Found the balance!
from San Francisco, CA
About Me Budget Buyer
Comments about SKIN BALANCING Ultra-Sheer Daily SPF 30 - 2 oz:
Fair-skinned redhead here. Have used daily sunscreen for many years (20+). I've tried most of Paula's sunscreens as well as over the counter ones. This one has arrived at number 1!! It goes on quickly and dries to a matte finish. It never gets super shiny on me even though I have oily skin. I do reapply in the afternoon if I'm outdoors a lot. For serious beach time I opt for a higher SPF number. It seems "liquidy" when if first goes on and I have created a little technique: pour quarter size amount in my palm, rub hands together, then with open palms I pat forehead, cheeks, nose, and neck/chest. I then have about 30 seconds to really rub it in and cover all the areas. After 30 seconds it gets a little sticky as it dries but in less than a minute it is smooth and matte. I really like the finish and have actually used it as a base before going out at night. I highly recommend you try it! It may be the balance you are looking for!

Wanted to love it.

About Me Brand Buyer
I really wanted to like it. Tried it so many times...almost like I could not believe it. Every time same thing happened. It burns. Right now writing review wondering why I did it again. Just not for me I guess. Never ever had this issue with sunscreen ever so I'm not sure what is is. It happens with a few of the paula products so it must be something they like to use that doesn't agree with my skin.

Stings a bit and makes my oily skin more oily
I have used this product daily (full size tube) for my oily, acne prone skin, but finds that it stings my skin slightly when I put it on, and seems to increase my oil production (likely due to irritation).
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I wanted to like this product. Easy to apply, no white cast, good SPF and a light texture. However, it caused quite a bit of eye burning. After adjusting and being more careful with application I still found that my cheeks were stinging. I'm looking forwarding to sampling some other moisturizers to see if I can find one slightly more moisturizing and that doesn't leave me with the burning sensation.

Mattifying, minimally irritating to sensitive skin
By red head
I have sensitive skin and use Paula's Resist Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF 30 tinted mineral sunscreen. I like that the Resist is mattifying, doesn't irritate my skin, and keeps my makeup in place throughout the day. It's the best primer I've ever used. However, on days where I don't want to wear makeup (as much as I love the tint of the Resist sunscreen, some days I really want to bare my own skin to the world--Paula's Choice products have made my skin SO GOOD, why should I hide it at all?), or if I want to re-apply sunscreen (say I'm at the beach more than 2 hours), I wanted a synthetic sunscreen that didn't irritate my skin. This one fits the bill. This mattifies my skin, rubs in easily, dries instantly, is imperceptible on my skin, and--most importantly--doesn't cause my skin to burn, break out in hives, or itch. I will say that this sunscreen, compared with the Resist Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50, is slightly, SLIGHTLY more irritating. I used this product from the sample packets for three consecutive days, and got two raised red bumps on my skin. I never get acne, not ever, but I do get irritation in the form of large red bumps, usually no more than one or two in one place. It's just how my skin reacts to things it doesn't like. What I did to combat it though was simply to use a touch of the Resist Daily Wrinkle Defense (the mineral, tinted sunscreen) on that area of my face the next day, and apply the synthetic everywhere else that didn't show signs of irritation. I'm still very optimistic about this product, so I purchased a full-sized tube. I can't wait to use it in the summer and feel free to not wear any makeup during the day. Thank you, Paula!

I have tried so many moisturizers with SPF, and finally found the right one! Bravo, Paula's Choice, for ending my years-long search.-- Not heavy or greasy or shiny-- Doesn't leave a whitish cast-- Skin does not feel tight/dry after applying-- Doesn't make me break outIt is a little bit runny, but once I knew that, I was extra careful squeezing it out of the tube.

I am in my forties and live in a sunny environment, so sun protection is essential. I use this over my serum or moisturizer before I head out of the house any time of day. I don't wear face makeup except for the occasional powder blush and this product leaves a lovely smooth matte finish on my sensitive rosacea skin. I was worried about a breakout like mineral sunblock tends to produce, but my skin never had a negative reaction to this.*It's not greasy or sticky either.

Great texture and finish, but it stings around my eyes
from Los Angles, CA
I've been on a quest for facial sunscreen, and have been going through samples of PC products because I haven't had good luck with other brands. I am olive complected with "extreme" combination normal to oily skin and some sensitivity. I tried Resist Mattifying spf 50, Skin Balancing spf 30, and Hydralight spf 30. I felt a little like Goldilocks and the three bears...All three sunscreens were great for daily use: lightweight, absorbed quickly, left no white cast, non-greasy, just a touch of moisture for skin tending toward oilyness, didn't add to facial oil production throughout the day. All three are somewhat liquid in texture, but not too thin. This means they are easy to apply and don't feel mask-like as other sunscreens might. Here is where the three differed:Resist Mattifying spf 50 (physical sunscreen)--soothing, did not sting eyes, but left a sheen ie, was not mattifying on my skinSkin Balancing spf 30 (chemical sunscreen)--ok on face but burned around my eyes, mattifyingHydralight spf 30 (physical sunscreen)--soothing, did not sting eyes, and mattifyingIn my case Hydralight was the "just right" solution to quell my sensitive eye area and provide some mattification. I also really loved the super light weight of Resist Mattifying and Skin Balancing. I think if the Resist product didn't leave a sheen, that would be my HG sunscreen since it provides a bit more protection, is non-irritating and has great anti-aging ingredients. Skin Balancing was also great as a lightweight handcream, leaving my hands feeling silky and smooth with no shine. For now, I'm going to stick with Hydralight as my full purchase, but all three are worthy of sampling.

I chose it over CeraveAM. Skin balancing formulation is very strong. Even Cerave can't compete with it

I finally found a daily moisturizer with sunscreen that doesn't leave me greasy, white, or sting my eyes. It's not at all irritating on my sensitive skin.
