About Me Minimalist
Comments about 8% AHA Gel - 3.3 oz:
I used this every night at bedtime and really like the results. I have previously used BHA products since I have combination skin and BHA is supposed to be better for combination and oily skin. However, I get much better results with AHA products (I've tried to change to BHA several times during the past few years and keep returning to AHA products). This is a very light gel. I used to have a blemish either coming or going, but have not had any since I've started using this about a month ago. I've also noticed that after a couple weeks of use, my skin seems a bit smoother. I use less foundation and it blends a little easier. I like the dispenser since it protects the product and still allows me to pump exactly the amount I need (a little less than a full pump for my entire face). There is no scent and I follow with the Vit C serum and my nightly moisturizer. I'm very pleased with the results and have had no issue with my sensitive, mature skin.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Gentle exfoliant; just bought a new bottle

About Me Beauty Expert
I've been using this exfoliant most mornings for probably almost a year. I'll be up front and honest about the changes I've noticed and the way I feel overall:This AHA exfoliant is gentle, doesn't irritate or sting when I apply it all over my face, and the lightweight, low-viscosity gel absorbs very quickly with no residue. I use it in the morning under my moisturizer, and use a 2% BHA at night. The BHA is a bit too strong to use A.M. and P.M. for me - occasionally I notice a little redness on my face - so that's why I alternate with an AHA in the morning. (Since I wear makeup, I like the BHA at night because it is oil-soluble and can penetrate the pores). I find this AHA soothing and gentle, as I stated, and never causes any redness. It's one of my Paula's Choice "holy grails" - it's a good value for me. You can do better, perhaps, with the Resist line AHA, but as I don't have an endless money supply :) this one is just perfect for me, and I make sure all the "anti-aging" goodies (just to lump them all together) are in my moisturizers! All in all, I'm super-pleased with this product and I just purchased my second bottle.

Made me break out
from Chicago, IL
About Me Beauty Conscious
I love a lot of PC products but sadly this product made me break out after a week of use along my jaw and neck so I stopped using it. I had already done the whole "purging" with other products but would eventually regret it so I stopped use in a short period.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I should really be on retinols right now; but due to breastfeeding I am just using an AHA as my "anti-aging" routine. This 8% AHA is great! I have been using it for about 2-1/2 months, and my skin is clearer, smoother, more even toned, overall healthier than it was before I started. I am using all PC products at this point, and they are all working well for me. My skin is more even, and healthier. In the past my skin has been super temperamental--- dry/flaky/red patches around my chin and mouth, breakouts on my cheeks and forehead, crazy big pores on my nose, uneven skintone, laugh lines, beginning to get lip lines, lines around my eyes, and forehead crease. I use the AHA every night after using PC creamy cleanser, and follow the AHA up with PC intense thick moisturizer when needed. In the morning it is the PC creamy cleanser and Calm Redness Relief SPF 30 (BEST SPF Moisture that I have ever used).
Really wanted it to work
from San Diego, CA
I had really high hopes for this as I heard it was great to help prevent wrinkles and just good anti-aging. However, it caused me to have the worst breakout i have ever had, I occasionally get a pimple here and there, but i had so many new pimples 3 days after using this, and they still have not healed. In the past I would never really get andy painful whiteheads, but this gave me terrible whiteheads. Overall I wouldn't recommend this due to the terrible results on my skin.

I've used (and enjoyed) the 5% AHA for years, but decided to up my game with the 8%. I have normal - sensitive skin that is not particularly acne prone. I use the AHAs as a general exfoliant for brighter skin, not really to fight acne. I used this entire bottle (one application in the AM daily, occasional application in the evenings - not every night) and did not find that it seemed to do much of anything. I think it was lightly exfoliating my skin, but I didn't notice anything beyond what the 5% does (no WOW moments) and it does not come with the added benefit of the great texture of the 5%. I also used it on my (dry, patchy) elbows and KP and didn't see any improvement there either. In general, this could be helpful for those of you with oily skin (it soaks in and is non greasy) that doesn't pair well with the 5%, but beyond that I don't recommend.

Smoothed skin surface overnight
from Los Angles, CA
I am in the process of sampling all the PC exfoliators to find the right ones for me, and recently used two high-concentration AHA's: Resist Weekly (10% AHA) and Skin Perfecting (8% AHA).Both Resist Weekly and Skin Perfecting had similar properties when applied: viscous liquid texture spread easily without being too thin or drippy, inoffensive scent, tingled when applied, became slightly sticky when "dry". Both tangibly reduced the roughness of my skin overnight. If I were to choose based on specifications, I would give a slight edge to Resist Weekly due to its higher level of anti-aging ingredients and slightly more AHA concentration. I think Skin Perfecting is a high enough AHA concentration that I would also consider it a weekly or bi-weekly treatment, and it might be better for those who need just a tad less AHA. Based on price, Skin Perfecting is the more budget friendly of the two. Frankly, based on my short-lived experience, I think it is difficult to go wrong with either.
Not for everyone

I began using this product in the hopes that it would eliminate my closed comedones, decrease PIH, minimize the size of the Sebaceous Filaments on my nose, and generally improve my skin's texture. I have dry, somewhat sensitive skin that is typically free of acne (with a few hormonal exceptions). This product was simply not for me. I found that my skin texture became rougher with this product and I actually had more breakouts. My face became red and irritated, even when I cut down use to only two days a week. After cutting this product out of my routine my skin cleared and improved within 5 days. I will not be using this product again. If you have sensitive skin this may not be for you. I hope to find a different AHA (perhaps at a lower concentration) that will help with my skin concerns.

Wonderful alternative to BHA
I recently discovered that I'm allergic to aspirin and -- thanks to PC website -- should therefore stop using salicylic acid. I've used PC's BHA for past few years because of my skin type (oily, some breakouts), but had to experiment with strength and frequency because I often had flaky skin after use. I just started using this product as an alternative, and I love it! No flakes and my skin is so smooth. It's exfoliating beautifully and I've been able to use it twice per day. A wonderful alternative to those allergic to aspirin or if you have oily skin with large pores and occasional breakouts but get flaky from BHA.
