Who is this product for?
The Mini Brush Set is great for anyone that wears makeup, especially those who are on-the-go, travel frequently, or like the convenience of being able to take their brushes with them anywhere.
Mini Powder Brush:
DIRECTIONS: Gently place the tip of the brush onto the powder, picking up a small amount and knocking off any excess (if necessary). Stroke over face using short, downward strokes, following the natural contours of the face. For the smoothest finish, avoid applying powder in a brisk back-and-forth or up-and-down motion.
Mini Blush Brush:
DIRECTIONS: Gently stroke the brush in one direction over your powder blush, being careful to not pick up too much color. If needed, knock off excess color before applying. Sweep color across the entire cheekbone, starting the color one-quarter to one-half inch beyond the laugh line. Brush downward and back toward the center of your ear, being careful not to place color below the level of the mouth. Applying blush downward instead of brushing back and forth avoids a striped appearance.
Mini Large Eyeshadow Brush:
DIRECTIONS: Gently wipe the flat part of the brush over your powder eyeshadow, being sure to knock off any excess shadow from the brush, and apply with long, stroking motions across the eyelid, crease, and/or under-brow area, depending on your choice of color placement and desired effect.
Mini Small Eyeshadow Brush:
DIRECTIONS: Gently wipe the flat part of the brush over your powder eyeshadow, being sure to knock off any excess shadow from the brush, and apply with long, stroking motions across the eyelid, crease, and/or underbrow area, depending on your choice of color placement and desired effect.
Mini Wedge Brow Brush:
DIRECTIONS: First, brush the brow hair into place with a brow and lash brush. Gently dab the tip of the Wedge Brush into the powder eyeshadow or powder eyebrow color and apply to the brow using short, hair-like strokes. Fill in the shape of the brow without adding any color above or beneath the brow itself. The goal is to delicately fill in the area between brow hairs rather than draw on new hairs. If needed, carefully place color under the eyebrow. Be sure to check for and soften any hard edges (this can be done with a cotton swab).
Mini Eyeliner Brush:
DIRECTIONS: Gently stroke the brush through eyeshadow or cream/gel liner color of your choice, keeping the bristles together and moving the brush in the direction of the bristles (knock any excess powder eyeshadow from the brush). Carefully apply the color from inner to outer corner of the upper lash line. Repeat this step for the lower lashline, but do not line all the way across the eye. Rather, stop just before reaching the inner third of the lower lashline, and make sure your line fades gradually.
How big are the brush heads on the Mini Brush Set?
The brush heads on the Mini Brush Set are comparable in functionality, shape, and density to the brush heads on our regular-size brushes. Specifically, the Powder and Blush brushes in the mini set are approximately half the size of our regular-size brushes. The remaining 4 brush heads are the same size as the regular brushes.
How often should I wash my brushes?
If you use the same basic colors and reserve your makeup brushes for your own use, washing them once every 2–3 months should suffice. Washing natural hair brushes too often can break down the shaft. Also, frequent washing can loosen the glue in the handle that holds the bristles together and keeps them in place.
What should I use to wash my brushes?
Use an inexpensive gentle shampoo instead of pricey brush-cleaning solutions, which are just shampoo anyway. The shampoo shouldn't contain any conditioning agents, which can build up on the brush just like they do on the hair. Paula's Choice All Over Hair & Body Shampoo is an excellent option. Conditioner is not necessary when caring for your brushes.
Exactly how should I clean my brushes?
- Gently but thoroughly wash the brush head (not the handle) with gentle shampoo in tepid water.
- Meticulously rinse the brush head with tepid water, until water runs clear.
- Carefully press out excess water from bristles and dab the brush dry with a clean towel.
- Arrange the bristles back into their original shape.
- Let the brush air dry on a towel without the help of a blow dryer (blow drying can damage bristles).
