A great nude matte palette with a little sparkle

About Me Natural Style
Comments about 4 Mattes & A Glam Eyeshadow Palette - Complete Kit:
I received this as a free gift with purchase, maybe a year ago? At first, I don't think I was that impressed. The colors looked a bit boring and the plum-glam one looked out of place. But I've had a recent change of heart. For one thing, I actually like the sparkly plum shadow. I layer it over the darker brown shade as an under-eye liner. Looks great on me! The lightest shade, requires a light hand, as it could look a bit chalky if not applied correctly. For a primer, I use a concealer, and I have very oily lids, but it all stays put. I also like the ingenious packaging; nicer quality than the drugstore brands. I'm not a big fan of dusty eye shadows, because they are trickier to apply, but holding a tissue up to my eyes is a small price to play. It's a nice a palette of natural colors that help me look fresh, pretty and not heavily made-up. Works for me!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

About Me Classic Style
I'm actually relieved to read some of the comments here, as I concur! This palette with high quality matte eyeshadows is wonderful except the purplish "glam" color - what to do with it??? Paula, maybe you could ask Wayne Goss what he was thinking and give some tips on the website? (I love Wayne) I would have chosen to put in a sparkly champagne or pink color for the lids. Bonus: the packaging is really cute, compact, and sturdy - good for travel or throwing in your purse.
Service and delivery comments:
As always, Paula's Choice has excellent customer service and my products always come sooner than expected.

Beautiful Mattes, Awful Glam Colour
from Vancouver, Canada
The Mattes are nice and good for a clean, everyday look but the "Glam" sugar plum is not just an awful eyeshadow (flaky, easily sheered out to nothing, not pigmented), it's an awful and baffling colour choice. This palette would have been more versatile (ie. Day to Night/Glam) and cohesive if it was replaced with:1) matte black, 2) matte dark brown, 3) shimmery brown, or 4) shimmery gold
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Great texture, would like different colours
By The Eyes Have It
from Toronto, Ontario
This (and the Nude Mattes) are the best eye shadows I've ever used. They fade on me, but I think that's because I have oily lids that no primer seems to conquer. The only complaint I have is that I throw out most of the colours. I find I can't carry off the plum, or any of the browns in either palatte; my eyes just look bruised. I would love to see a palette with Cream, Beige, the dark grey from the Nude Mattes palette, and a mid-taupe like MAC's Copperplate.

The quality of the eyeshadows is excellent, however I have no idea what to do with the plum color, the palette would get 5 stars if the plum was replaced with the pink sugar color from the nude mattes.

Nice Little Palette!
from Wood Village, OR
I love The Nude Mattes palette and sorry it's no longer available (but I still have one). This smaller palette has some of the same shades and works very well for me. I'm 63 yo, fair skin, brown eyes, white hair. It's a great everyday look and these shadows have the same quality as The Nude Mattes palette; they go on very smoothly and are easy to blend. (I do use an eyelid primer to prevent creasing with my hooded, crepey eyelids!) The only color I'm not sure about is the Sugar Plum -- where to use; eyelids, under the brow?

Love the grown, hate the "glam" color
Great neutral colors but I just don't get the purple "glam" color. I would've added a darker brown, a grey or black but not purple. It just doesn't go with the selection. The pigment is great! The ease of applying the shadows is great! The size is perfect for travel. A nice thing to possibly add (instead of the glam color is one slot of natural concealer. Would be the perfect eye kit.

Best eyeshadow palette ever!
By Cosmetics realist
from Dayton, Ohio
I LOVE this eyeshadow palette. I have been a makeup guru for 25+ years and have used eyeshadows from nearly all cosmetic lines (department stores and drugstores). The colors in this palette are by far the most flattering ones I have ever used! The shadows blend beautifully and stay put all day. This palette goes on so well that it looks professionally applied. I hope Paula never discontinues this item!!

Elegant Shadows-New Favorite
By Thea S
from Sunnyvale, CA
I absolutely LOVE these shadows! I am a long time PC customer and fan for over 16 years and have used and tried almost every category of product offered. Years ago, Paula offered a lot of different eye shadow sets and those shadows were gorgeous: Light, smooth, blendy, natural looking and they lasted for hours. I was so upset when PC discontinued the eye shadows because few available elsewhere compared. When this compact was offered as a Free Gift with any order some months ago, I decided to try it. I loved it so much, I reordered several more to be sure not to run out. They are just as beautiful as the earlier shadows and I love how easily the compact pops open and snaps shut with a push of the thumb. I do wish she offered compact duos and trios shadow sets for purse or travel. Although, I use this when getting ready in the morning, I don't like to carry it (or the blusher compact) around in my bag. I can't argue with anyone else's experience but I have used these shadows over various serums, moisturizers and eye creams and they always went on seamlessly and smoothly and stayed put all day into the evening. I never used primer, but then I haven't found it to be necessary. Please Paula, make more of these lovely shadows available in compacts of two or three shades for pocket or purse like you did before!
Gums up over eyeshadow primers
from Chicago, IL
I had high hopes for this small, travel friendly, smartly packaged eyeshadow palette. The color choices are great for my green eyes, but the eyeshadow quality needs a lot of work. I have issues with eyeshadow creasing and I have to use a primer. I tried 3 different eyelid primers with this shadow, and the shadow skipped, balled up and became gummy over all 3 primers. It did not go on smooth at all. I hope PC considers reformulating this product.
