    My One Good Powder
    • The neutral colour is perfect for my moderately fair, slightly olive-toned skin. Doesn't make my skin itch after wearing it all afternoon! This will be what I use for extra sun protection in the summer when I don't want to reapply sunscreen in the middle of the day (or use oil blotting sheets to reduce shine on nose, forehead and chin), thus messing up my makeup. Looks very nice on. Plus, it's not a messy loose powder. What a win!

Love this powder, but the price increase is ridiculous
    • I've been using this powder for years and love it on my skin. But the price increase is getting ridiculous. I ordered this last 2 months ago and just looked at the price now-jumped $2. I've noticed prices increasing lately, but $2 in 2 months? What changed to justify the increase? I love this powder but am planning to look for a different brand now just because of the cost.

Thanks for your comments! I think this was a matter of timing, as your previous and then subsequent order for this powder fell right in between our annual price increase. There are many factors that go into the decision to change prices, too many to get into here, but you can always check out other pressed powders with SPF that we've reviewed favorably. There are a few options at the drugstore that cost a few dollars less than ours.

Great product but lengthy application, limited amount in compact
    • This is the only pressed powder that does not irritate my skin. I would give it 5 stars except for two issues: it takes forever to apply as the layers go on in miniscule amounts, and there does not seem to be very much in the compact. I apply makeup once a day, and went through this in 3 weeks using mostly a kabuki brush. Otherwise I loved it.

    Please, more light shades
    • I agree with Carol M., there needs to be a Porcelain or similar very light shade for us fair skinned ladies. A light neutral shade would also be nice. I like the powder just not the available shades.

Odd coverage & lightest shade is too dark
    • I have to apply multiple coats to get coverage, and I don't like the feel of that much makeup on my skin. Also, the Buff Beige is way too dark (like 2 shades too dark) for my fair skin. Please make this powder in a Porcelain or Fair shade!

    Need the porcelain
    • I have this powder in the porcelain. Love it but now I am at the end of mine. Alas, I don't see that color as being available any more. Please!! us fair-skinned gals need SPF as much or more than darker skin tones.

I need to review this again
    • It does really need a Paula's Choice Logo Powder Puff. Like I said before, I use this as a powder foundation. I was using Bare Minerals Ready Foundation. But the coverage was too cakey -- even when I used the fluffiest powder brush. I also used Stila Illum. Powd Found., and the coverage there was ok, but that too would cake. I feel this powder does the best job. It looks so smooth and just doesn't cake on me. To get the foundation coverage, I use a puff & it lasts 10 hrs on oily skin.

Please Consider Making A Lighter Shade!
    • The texture of the powder is lovely. Nice, sheer to light-med coverage, depending on application method. Was hoping to use it as my foundation, and it would've worked had the color been light enough. If you wear Fair in BE or lighter than MUFE Powder in 115, be cautious. However, if MUFE shade 115 works for you, this should work too; my mother wears 115 and it this was a perfect match for her. Thank goodness. The Resist Powder comes in a lighter shade, but alas, it is way too sheer for my needs!

Only Face Makeup I Can Wear
    • Provides a beautiful finish, not cakey, even with the powder puff i bought. MY skin doesnt break out! I thought I would eventually grow out of my sensitive skin prone to breakouts. When this did not happen a girlfriend told me to stop wearing makeup for a week, once I did my skin cleared up. But still wanted an even skin tone that only a little makeup can provide so began to look for something better quality. Even department stores could not deliver! A friend recommended Paula. Really needs a slim powder puff
    • I've been using this powder for quite some time and really like it. You can vary the coverage from light to heavy depending upon application. Yet I'm still surprised every time I get a new one that it doesn't come with a slim powder puff. I use a brush at home and I buy small powder puffs to add to it to carry in my purse. I don't care for Paula's sponges as they are too thick for this and sort of absorb too much of the product.

    Outstanding
    • The best powder I've ever used, and that's saying a lot as I'm now 46. I am very fair (I'm always the lightest or second lightest in powders) and the Buff Beige is perfect. I think it would blend with a variety of fair skin tones. I use it with a conventional puff because I like some coverage, and this goes on silky and invisibly but still mattifies, refines, and evens out skin color alone or on top of foundation. Use SPF underneath of course. The SPF in the powder is a terrific extra layer.

    Meh...not so great for me.
    • I tried a brush and a sponge, but still it is difficult to apply. a brush it just will not be applied at all. With a sponge, it leaves a kind of thick cake-y feel to skin. Also packaging is let-down. The powder smudges all over the case and won't get cleaned completely. There is no room to store sponge or brush inside the case. Especially I was hoping to use it during day time to re-apply SPF on my make-up, and it is super inconvenient taking out another case for brushes etc.

    Great product, poor packaging
    • The powder covers well and looks very natural and is a good match for my skin tone. As far as the container, I'm disappointed that it did not stand up to average wear. The black plastic changed texture with handling due to the moisturizer/sunscreen residue on my hands and the lid broke after only a couple months of use. I also had both issues with the concealer. This has not occurred with other makeup lines that I've used for much longer. I give this 4 stars for the actual product.

    Really great product!
    • I really like this powder. It has the coverage I want with the SPF everyone needs. However, I do with that there was an applicator included. I prefer a sponge (though Paula's says not to use them :/ ). There aren't many "best" products on the market for powders with spf so I guess I'm lucky I found one that I really like.

    Great product
    • I use it to offset the shine that is left from a sun protection moisturizer. Both neutral and flaxen work for my skin tone and if you are a guy, no one will ever know that you are wearing powder (I promise!). There is no reason to run around with an oily face. I also find powder to be the best way to combat oily skin and my suggestion to PC is to incorporate a formula which will absorb excess oil such as Neutrogena's shine control powder, which is so much better than using blotting sheets.

    Best. Powder. EVER!
    • I have tried a zillion powders over the years, but I don't have to try anymore because of this one. I have oily-combination, blackhead and acne-prone skin. This is the only powder EVER to truly work with my skin. it looks flawless on. The powder in the compact stays perfect and doesn't do that gross "hardening" thing I hate when some powders get funky. I tried PC's Resist powder, but am going back to this one. It is my all time favorite, and I will never be without it again!

Lightest shade too dark for NW15 skin
    • The lightest shade was way too dark for me. I would have been able to keep it for contouring or as a bronzer, if I didn't already have one I liked. It's unfortunate that such a basic characteristic of a makeup line like having a decent range of shades, is one area where PC is really inadequate - I have had bad luck with other PC makeup products as well. It's odd because the skincare line is so outstanding. The finish of this was alright, not too "powdery". The coverage was minimal imo.

    Better Than Resist Smoothing Powder
    • Thank goodness this is back in stock. It was out of stock so long I bought the New Resist Smoothing Powder even though it did not have the SPF coverage I was looking for. I'm suprised that Paula would sell a new powder formulation without SPF considering how she stresses that in most of her writings. Glad to bea ble to go back to the good stuff.

Better than the new Resist Smoothing Powder
    • I really like this Healthy Finish Pressed Powder. I bought the neutral & also the healthy tan. Both are wonderful colors. Does not dry out my very dry skin. Great price. Goes on smooth. I use it over my foundation or tinted moisturizer. Plus it has an SPF.

    Makes a nice foundation powder
    • I used to use Stila Illuminating powder foundation. Then I ran out and I found out that they are now testing on animals. I dug out an old Paula's Choice, Healthy Finish Pressed Powder in "Flaxen" and decided to use it with one of my foundation sponges for heavier coverage and it works even better than my Stila foundation. My husband said "Wow, you don't look like your wearing all that make up today. You look good sweaty. I like it when your skin looks nice." So I re-ordered another today.

    Love this powder
    • I've been on a search for a very long time for a powder that doesn't cake up my eyes and show dry patches of skin. This is awesome. I just wish PL had another shade darker. I'm using the darkest shade now and summer hasn't hit.

    needs lighter shade
    • This has been my favorite powder for years. It wears well on my skin and has spf but the Buff Beige is darker than my skin tone. I still wear it but always feel self concious that my face is darker than my neck when wearing this powder. It would rank a 5 star rating for me if there was a lighter shade available.

    Too Dark
    • Fine product, love the SPF but all the colors are too dark. You really need a translucent one or an extreme light for those of us with 'white girl syndrome.' That's the Scandinavian, I only burn, peel then turn white again, natural blonde, super fair creamy skin. We see tanning as a pastime for those with death wishes, dislike the mess, fuss and look of spray tanning and love how we age well because of our religious use of sunscreen. We want to finally have a chance at make up like that!

Some suggestions for use, only my opinions!
    • I too wish Paula would go back to offering a lighter shade than the Buff Beige, but that would be my only "complaint." Here's what I do with the powder. First, a few dabs of the Shine Stopper Instant Matte Finish wherever there are oily areas. Then stock up on DHC Silky Cotton (Paula rates these as "Best" in Beautypedia). Use the Silky Cotton squares once, then toss out after use. Apply the powder fairly liberally. Last, use Paula's Powder Brush to brush off the excess powder. You will glow!

    • Just the right coverage. Very smooth finish. I use it over All Bases Covered. I apply it with a powder brush. Not to matte so that is looks dry. Finishes my make up and lasts all day.

DIRECTIONS: For use as a finishing powder, Healthy Finish Pressed Powder can be applied with our Powder Brush. A standard pressed powder puff may be used as well by those who prefer more coverage or extra sun protection.

For brush application, pick up some powder on the full end of the brush, knock off the excess, and brush it on using the same motion and direction as you used for your foundation.

We do not recommend using Healthy Finish Pressed Powder wet—the sunscreen will likely be compromised and it has not been SPF-tested for wet application.

* Unless a significant layer of Healthy Finish Pressed Powder is applied, we do not recommend relying on it (or any SPF-rated pressed powder) as your sole source of sun protection. It is best to use an powder with sunscreen in conjunction with a moisturizer or foundation with an SPF 15 or greater that contains UVA-protecting ingredients.

Does Healthy Finish Pressed Powder SPF 15 work as my sole source of sun protection?

Not really, at least not unless you're willing to apply it in a thick layer. Since most people don't use powder in that manner (and for good reason!) Paula recommends that any pressed powder with sunscreen be used to enhance the sun protection you get from your daytime moisturizer or foundation with sunscreen. Healthy Finish Pressed Powder SPF 15 is great to brush on during the day to reduce shine and touch-up your sun protection!

Which type of foundation does Healthy Finish Pressed Powder SPF 15 work best with?

Although Healthy Finish Pressed Powder SPF 15 may be used with any foundation, it works best applied over liquid or cream foundations that have a smooth, non-powdery finish. If your foundation has a powdery finish, you may not need to apply a powder over it until later in the day, when it's time to touch-up your makeup.

What’s the difference between Healthy Finish Pressed Powder SPF 15 and RESIST Instant Smoothing Satin Finish Powder?
The biggest difference is that Healthy Finish provides sun protection and also offers more coverage. RESIST Instant Smoothing Satin Finish Powder does not provide sun protection and has a lighter, sheerer texture than Healthy Finish Pressed Powder SPF 15. RESIST Instant Smoothing powder also has a satin-matte rather than a true matte finish. Both powders come in a range of soft, neutral shades.
