New and SO improved!

About Me Acne Prone, Fair Skin, Hormonal Acne, Sensitive Skin
I was a diehard PC 1% BHA lotion fan for years, to the point that I had a small meltdown when they told me that they were making changes, and that the new version would be from the CALM line. Let me just say: this product is hands-down SO much better for treating acne, clearing redness from recent breakouts, and PIH from older ones. I noticed the difference after one application, and even tried going back to the old formula for a few days to make sure I wasn't imagining things. There was no denying that this new formula is everything. Thanks, Paula!! :)
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Not for sensitive skin
By Hey Girl

I have mild acne and slight redness on my upper cheeks, and was looking for a product that would gently exfoliate and clear my skin. This product was extremely irritating, even when I only used it every other day.

Please bring back the old Skin Perfecting 1% BHA Lotion!

About Me Combination Skin, Sensitive Skin
I've been using the (now, mostly discontinued) Hydralight system for two years now, and it did wonderful things to my sensitive, combo skin. I had stocked up a while ago, and much to my dismay, the 1% Skin Perfecting BHA Lotion and Hydralight Moisture-Infusing lotion were discontinued! I'm extremely happy Paula's Choice brought back the Hydralight One-step Cleanser, but I am really missing my 1% BHA lotion. I tried this new Calm Redness Relief formulation, and have been using trial packs for several days now. It definitely does not feel the same as the old formula - it leaves my face slightly greasy (although moisturized) and doesn't seem to sink into my skin like the old formula did. I also broke out after switching to this formula, and it does not seem to be getting better with time / the "getting used to it" factor. The 2% BHA lotion and gel are both too harsh for long-term use on my skin, and so switching to those isn't really an option. I have not tried the 2% BHA liquid, but I feel like I may have to since the Calm Redness Relief is not working for me. If anything could be done to bring back the old 1% lotion formula, I would be so happy!
Better than expected
from Hartford, CT
Based on the reviews, I ordered a few samples of this and also the 2% BHA liquid. My skin definitely prefers the 1%. I am fair with semi-sensitive skin and some ruddiness, but I have started to get clogged pores and realized I needed an exfoliator. The 2% was too much for my skin - even just two uses (days apart, too) my skin became dry. With the 1%, my skin felt moisturized and smoother and I was able to use it every day. So I am back to buy the larger size of the 1%. I also preferred the 1% lotion texture to the 2% liquid - so much easier to put on.

Please bring back the old formulation.
from Miami, FL
I have ultra sensitive skin and was so excited when I tried the old formulation of the 1% BHA and it did exactly what is said it would and with NO irritation or other side effects. I didn't mind the smell because it worked. When I ran out and went to reorder I was devastated to learn that the formulation had changed. I ordered the new Redness Relief hoping it would be just as good, it is not. Very drying and does not help with redness as it claims to. PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD FORMULATION OF THE 1% BHA, it was perfect as it was.
Didn't work for me
Bought the whole calm routine because I have red tones and work in a cooler. Used the regiment as per instructions and still have those red tones. I don't even have anything remotely severe like rosacea. It leaves my skin feeling nice and smooth and doesn't clog my pores, but as far as "redness reduction", not even close.

I was using the other 1% BHA lotion prior to it being disontinued, and upon using this new one I found that my skin was a lot less irritated. This suits me much better and I am very happy with the new formula. I know there are mixed reviews here but I guess it is very individual. I love the Calm line's moisturizer too!

Please bring back previous formula
from Alberta, Canada
About Me 65, Combination Skin
I tried samples of this and it did not moisturize like the old formula. Also caused my skin to sting. I immediately stocked up on the old formula before it disappeared - estimate I have about a years supply. I know users complained about the smell of the old formula but taking out the cucumber extract in this new formula is a huge mistake. PLEASE bring back the old formula before my stockpile is depleted!!

About Me Dry, Occasional Breakouts, Sensitive
I can only use this once every other day. If i use it everyday, my skin gets dry. I liked the old version, which had weird smell, it was not too drying for dry skin. I think there should be seperate 1% bhas for dry and oily skin. How come the cleanser, toner and moisturizers in the calm line are for different skin types, but this should be suitable for both dry and combl/oily?? It doesen't make any sense. If it was a bit more moisturizing, it would be great product for dry skin also!! Now i think it is more suitable for combo/oily skin.
