Ultimate BHA Exfoliant
By Inés Aaliyah
from Vancouver, BC
Comments about RESIST Weekly Retexturizing Foam 4% BHA - 1.5 oz:
Nothing beats this chemical exfoliant for controlling acne, smoothing textured skin and obliterating milia and sebaceous filaments. The foam formula absorbs deep and fast, but be sure to use only half a pump as a full pump will cause your face to feel sticky. People complaining about the smell should suck it up. Yes, it smells like dehydrated prawn crackers, it fades in minutes.
Service and delivery comments:
Prompt and fabulous delivery, as always

Essential for smooth baby soft skin
from Potomac, Md
I started with BHA 2% lotion and noticed that it wasn't delivering the results I wanted after weeks of nightly application. Previously, I purchased this 4% BHA with the intent on using once a week like prescribed. Yea, that didn't happen. After using this one night, I woke up to poreless smooth skin. After experimenting for a few more weeks, I decided to use this exclusively every night. For the record, I sandwich this between a toner and a moisturizers. I do not use retinol products. My skin is extremely sensitive, or so I thought, and has not had an adverse reaction to using this on a daily basis. The results are AMAZING. I go make up free on the weekends, and get comments from friends on how great my skin looks and feels. Yea, it smells on application. But with results like this, who cares? I am in love with this product!

not the best of the Paula's BHAs
from Bay Area
I hate giving Paula's products negative reviews. I love most of the PC Hydroxy products. They are clean and pure feeling. I like the foam but some how I don't seem to get the results that I do with the gel , liquid and lotion BHAs. This is the 2nd time that I have tried this product as I wanted to be sure before I added a negative review .
I have always been impressed with the speed of delivery from paula'schoice.com

Total Blackhead buster
This stuff ROCKS for getting rid of blackheads in my T-zone! I have combination skin and am menopausal, so my acne prone skin is finally drying up like the rest of me. However, the large pores seem larger and blackheads persist. The 2% gel just wasn't cutting through. I use this instead, just at night (every other to nightly), and apply Cereve moisturizer with a couple of drops of the Niacin booster after it dries. My skin is looking better every day. Pores smaller, blackheads vanishing. As for the smell? Yep 4 stars instead of 5. I did find that shaking it up first really helps. Otherwise, if I forget, the rotten egg scent is present, but fades. Either way, don't stop making it Paula! Only if you have something better at the same bha percent!
Fast as always!
I've been using this for two months, but not consistently as my schedule is kind of weird. So I haven't noticed a huge difference in pore size. However, I managed to give myself an accidental chemical peel after using my clarisonic (gently). Didn't notice any burning or itching before going to bed. Woke up to very itchy and very bright red skin. Thankfully the redness went away after 24+ hours. But my skin is a tad flaky. Hindsight it probably wasn't the best idea, but I've been using BHA and a clarisonic for a while with no adverse reactions. On a positive note, My pores seem to have cleared out significantly and I'm less oily, so there's a plus. Overall it's been a pleasing BHA.
Can't get past the smell
from Chatham, NJ
The product works, but I can't use it anymore. I'm very sensitive to fragrances and this product simply stinks. The fishy smell doesn't fade on me, either. The last time I used it, I had to wash it off after about 20 minutes because the smell was giving me a headache. I threw the rest of my bottle away. I love most PC products, but this one doesn't work for me.

I have had this product for a couple of months. I read reviews about bad reactions but wanted to try it out anyway as Paulas Choice has a great return policy. The first few times I used it there was no reaction. It left my skin smooth and bright and I was very happy. But then my skin started to respond differently. When used it, I started having pink, itchy, dry reaction. I cut down my use and even tried using only 1/2 a pump, but still didnt help. Last night I used it again and rinsed off after leaving on for 1 hour to see if it would help. I woke up with a red face looking like I have sunburn and it itches. I will be returning this. I dont know if this an allergic reaction of if this us supposed to work like a chemical peel??? That being said, I am still a fan of Paulas Choice products and love everything else I have purchased and will continue to purchase this brand, just not this particular product.
First Bad Reaction
from Alberta, Canada
I was using this BHA foam for months with no adverse reactions. However, I did read one other reviewer's comment that she noticed a reaction when she added retinol to her routine. I have been using retinol for years and was recently using the 1% Retinol Booster mixed with my nightly moisturizer. After going through a few bottles of that, I decided to try a stronger retinol product and ordered the RESIST Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum and have only been using it 3 times a week instead of every day. Anyway, I went to use this BHA foam again (I was only using it once every 1-2 weeks), and the next morning, I noticed something was wrong right away when I started rubbing my eye and all of the skin sort of around and below my eye started burning horribly. I went and looked in the mirror, and my skin was very red, irritated & painful. The worst of it was below my eyes, though, and I'm pretty sure that was my fault as it says right on the bottle not to use on eyelids or eye area, and from reading a few of the reviews, some other people made that mistake. I was trying to avoid my eye area, but I obviously got some of the foam a little too close to that very thin skin just below your eyes. A couple days ago, I went for a facial and they actually used a salicylic acid foam that was very similar to this, but she ONLY applied it to my T-zone, mainly my nose and then washed it off after a bit, and I think that's how you need to use this. I wouldn't leave it on overnight, and because it is so much stronger, only apply it to the areas that are more oily and that you need to exfoliate. I did not use this on my neck and chest area as directed, thank God. I also noticed directions say to use one pump, and you really don't need that much. A little goes a long way, and I think applying it a little too overzealously (along with using the stronger retinol product) is part of that caused my minor chemical burn. It does smell bad, but the smell goes away as soon as the product dries
Really works to improve look of pores!
from Toronto, Canada
This product is just wonderful and delivers all that it promises. I have enlarged/clogged pores on my nose and they look dramatically better the next day after applying this product. I do use it all over my face however for exfoliation, and my skin feels really soft and smooth because of it. I do have to agree with others that the smell is kind of bad when you first apply it, otherwise I would give this 5 stars. But it dissipates very quickly and the results are totally worth it. I have never encountered any irritation from this, but I am careful to use it just once a week in winter, then twice in summer.
Not for me
By Terrier mom

I have used PC products for a while now, and I have never had a reaction to any of them. I find them very soothing to my skin. However, this particular product produced an allergic-like reaction. Before purchasing, I did read some reviews that indicated it caused reactions for some people, but I honestly just did not believe that I would have any problem.I used the product, left it on all night, and awoke in the morning scratching my neck before realizing that I had this itchy rash all over my face and neck, and I was red like a tomato! My eyes were extremely puffed up and itchy as well. This rash did not go away quickly either, but lasted for about 4 or 5 days! When I say itchy, I had to purchase some OTC steroid cream to stop the itching because it was driving me crazy. As I said, I have never had ANY bad reaction from any other PC product, and I will continue to use them just as I have. Just not this particular one. I am still surprised by this reaction, but out of all the products I have tried, I am lucky to have only had one bad reaction. Some others mentioned the smell, but I really did not notice the smell at all.Be careful using this one though, the idea of trying it for just a few hours may work, but I don't think I want to try it again.
