Sensitive skin beware!

About Me Beauty Expert
Comments about RESIST Weekly Retexturizing Foam 4% BHA - 1.5 oz:
I love Paula's Choice and use their products almost exclusively. However, as smooth as this made my skin, it caused HORRIBLE swelling, soreness, and sensitivity. I have tried it several times, each time believing I was using it wrong. I love the other BHA products, but this one causes me serious pain. My skin turns red, my face and eyes swell (even though I do not put it on my eyes) and I am unable to use any skincare for days without itching and burning. This said, I do not believe everyone will react this way. But if you have a history of somewhat sensitive skin, use with caution. I would also not suggest using this for the first time before a big event. If you have the same reaction as me, you will look horrible for a week or more.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

4% Bha Foam
About Me Skin Care Professional
Great product. Don't be concerned by the comments about the smell, it is minor and fleeting, especially when it's not the last step in your routine and is covered by another product. It really has made a difference in the appearance of my current blackheads, and also the occurrence of new ones. I've found this non irritating, even when using it on consecutive days, and I generally have very sensitive skin.

Great for super oily skin or oily areas but this DOES flake
from San Leandro, CA
If you've got oily skin or oily areas, this definitely helps keeps the oiliness at bay for at least a week. My forehead is very oily compared to the rest of my face and I noticed that with this, it was far less oily, which I appreciated, but it was pretty drying for the rest of my face. Paula's Choice claims this "delivers dramatic results without flaking." For me, personally, that's not true. I applied this all over my face this past Monday and it's now Thursday and the skin on my cheeks and chin are still flaking. What's worse is I can't lightly exfoliate it away without aggravating my skin so I'm stuck with really dry flaky skin that I can't cover with foundation either. I actually tried applying a 10% AHA moisturizer by PC over it in the hopes of exfoliating the flakes off and that absolutely did nothing. It's as if the flakes are this super dry barrier that just won't let anything in or out!Beware: unless you have extremely oily skin all over, restrict your application to a few, select oily areas. In the future, I'll only apply this around my nose and on my forehead, areas that are normally much oilier. I'm going to apply a thicker moisturizer before I go to bed tonight and hope it'll be better tomorrow morning.

It was okay

About Me Beauty Conscious
I bought this 2 years ago and never got around to reviewing it. I have severe blackheads on my nose and this did nothing to them in terms of getting rid of them. It did make my skin smooth everywhere else but not my poor strawberry nose. It's not a daily thing, more like an every other day product to avoid dryness because I made the mistake of doing it everyday and I got dryness. It made my skin look smoother and felt soft the next day but nothing to my strawberry, pore nose. So maybe it'll work for those who have better genetics that I can't seem to undue. I tried the entire line for this issue of blackheads and it maybe smoothed them out but didn't get rid of any of them but again, maybe genetics

I have to say this is one of my favorite treatments. I use it once a week and really notice smoother, healthier skin the next day. I love the light foam. It does tingle a little when you first apply it, but that does not linger and I do have sensitive skin. I have noticed the most improvement in my skin using this product.

Too irritating for me
Watch out. This is strong and irritating. I have been using PC products for over 10 years. Was excited to try this. I have large pores, bumps and blackheads. I use 2% BHA liquid 2 times/day and 9% BHA a few evenings a week. Neither bother my sensitive skin. Ordered this based on other positive reviews. Used a small amount one evening. When I woke I was shocked. My skin was bright red, swollen, irritated, and extremely sensitive. Also developed white heads. Irritation lasted over 2 weeks. Will not use again. Too damaging to my skin.
Stinky but it works!!!
I've tried all the PC exfoliants. This was the last one I tried based on some of the reviews, it kind of scared me! I have very sensitive eye area and will get contact dermatitis there easily, so some reviews put me off.BUT, I'm so happy to say that this is the exfoliant I was looking for. My skin can tend to be on the drier side so I started with the glycolic acids first. While they made my skin glow, it didn't address the white heads I was getting. I use this once or twice a week and it completely retextures my skin and shrinks my pores! It hasn't dried out my skin at all. Hold your breath for a minute and you'll be fine :) It's SOOO worth the results! Oh! And it's AMAZING on dry feet!!

Smooth, even skin tone, less sebaceous filaments
I LOVE this product, which I use once a week (I also use BHA 9% daily). This product, more than any I've tried, smooths my normally bumpy skin. It also helps loosen extremely stubborn sebaceous filaments AND reduces post-acne hyperpigmentation just with one application. I am so appreciative of this because the only other product that touched these issues is tretinoin, which ruined my skin -- made it dull, enlarged scars and pores, just made it a mess. That this product does none of that, instead using the power of safe, calming salicylic acid is a minor miracle. And I adore that these products are never, ever tested on animals -- that is as important a criteria to me as any other.
'OMG' A great product to battle acne

About Me Minimalist
Of all the PC products I use and have purchased (a lot), this is my favorite. I'm not sure I can do this product justice. I use the 2% BHA liquid only a morning and night daily basis. But I append to that usage this product when:-I feel a pimple coming-I've been bad and my skin is about to speak up-I need to exfoliate that dry dull skin-stubborn blackheads that I couldn't get out with the 8% BHA-and though it doesn't go on this list, I've noticed my pores cleaning up and maybe shrinking. The only con I can think of is the smell. It has a unique smell for the first couple of minutes but then I can't smell it or I've gotten use to it. The smell reminds me of seafood.I don't believe in magical and overnight skincare sells, but (for me) the benefits have been so drastic and dramatic with this product.
from New York, NY
I found this product very, very irritating! I don't usually have sensitive skin, so I tried it 3 times just to be sure it was the product and not something else. Time 1) Next day my skin was a bit red, warm and irritated, but went away in 1-2 days. Time 2) Same thing, only not quite as much irritation so I waited a few weeks and tried again. Time 3) Awful irritation, my skin actually felt like it was chemically burned! Ended up with a layer of dead skin that took a week to fully flake off (in that week my skin looked like I aged 20 years due to the dry/dead skin). Glad to hear this product works for some people, but I guess I am not one of them. I will be returning it for a refund or credit!
