About Me Beauty Conscious
Comments about 2% BHA Gel - 3.3 oz:
I've only been using this for a weeks or so, so I can't really verify any results yet. The stickiness is a huge turn off though. It eventually sinks in but make sure you use it way before applying any makeup...like and hour before.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I use this product EVERYDAY, mostly once a day but sometimes twice a day. Very impressed how it doesn't cause my face to get oily. It certainly helps reduce my large pores. Doesn't prevent acne but absolutely helps heal them up quicker. In love with this product. You should for sure give it a chance! By the way I have acne prone, dry, oily (combination) skin.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This stuff grew on me!
By Julie M
from Santa Monica, CA
I have oily skin, large pores, prone to clogged pores. At first, I didn't like the slimy texture. I decided to go ahead and give it a try anyway. I like that I didn't need a cotton pad. It has kept my skin crystal clear and smooth, free of breakouts and clogged pores. I don't feel the need to use my clarisonic like I used to in my pre-BHA days. My pores are clear! 2x's a day, I use 2 pumps and spread it on my face, neck, and chest...and wipe the excess on the back of my hands and arms. It's slimy and shiny after you apply, and takes a few minutes to dry. After it dries completely, I can apply makeup over it no problem. This bottle has lasted me a long time! Much longer than the liquid version.

About Me Minimalist
I'm mostly pleased with this product and formula! For a long time I fought dry skin, while also dealing with oil. After I figuring out that the products I was using were causing the dryness, and switching to PC, my skin is so soft! I'm fortunate that I only deal with the occasional small break-out during my menstrual cycle, and otherwise don't worry about blemishes, but I still fight oily skin. I've used the 1% BHA Lotion and liked that- I still use it on days when I feel like I need a little extra moisture boost during these winter months in Ohio. I've had improvement with that, but still struggled with oil so I got the 2% BHA Gel. I prefer to work with gels and lotions over liquids. The gel is manageable and so great to work with, but even after letting it set for several minutes (and at this time, it's been about half an hour) I have a leftover... shine, you could say. It's not oily; my skin doesn't feel slick, but it has a shine to it that only happens when I use the gel. If you are going to bed shortly after applying it, or planning to follow up with a foundation or cover-up, then it may not matter to you. For me, I rarely use foundation (due to my own failure at make-up; I struggle with finding the right shade, and when I do I'm bad at application) so I just got bare-faced daily. Although my skin doesn't FEEL oily, it LOOKS oily due to the left over shine from the gel. It's weird! Sometimes it's nice, because I can think of it as an unexpected highlight; it certainly catches light, but I feel like I look shiny rather than dewy. This could be just me! I've had the bottle just over 60 days and use it about twice a day, only occasionally using the 1% Lotion or 8% AHA just to mix it up, but when I do switch it's only one day a week maybe. I like the way my skin looks and feels otherwise! Maybe I'm not quite oily enough for this texture, since I don't notice that my skin feels oily in my T-zone or cheeks until I'm almost through the work day. I like the effect the 2% has on my skin, so once this bottle starts to get lower I'm going to check out the 2% Liquid and see if that texture is better for me. I have a feeling that I'm a little too combination-skin for this texture since I'm still working on recovering from the dry-but-also-oily skin issue.

About Me Skin Care Professional
I received this product about a week ago and applied it each night after following my night cleansing routine. I noticed no difference for 2 days and 3rd day it started to break me out. I started getting small (red) pimples on my cheeks. I still continued using it and woke up with two huge painful pimples on my chin on 4th day. I do have acne prone skin but this just made it worse. The good part was it really softened my skin and it was moisturizing. And not forgetting to mention, it didn't make any difference to my pore size.

Good product, bad texture
from Washington, DC
About Me Beauty Expert
My only real complaint about this product is the texture. The gel formulation is great for oily skin, but this product feels heavy and sticky for quite a long time after I've applied it. I ended up only wearing it at night because it's not practical for daytime wear - it takes forever to dry and and if you don't wait until it dries, it won't play well under makeup. Paula's Choice would do well to try and replicate the texture of philosophy's clear days ahead oil-free salicylic acid acne treatment & moisturizer (which gets 5 stars on Beautypedia). That product is a gel but feels light as air and dries quickly - it's now my daytime go-to. But, it's only 1% BHA and it's a bit pricey. Overall, this is a good product that definitely worked to reduce my blackheads and improve my skin's texture, but the goopiness of the product means I won't be buying it again.

This stuff is amazing!
I've been using glycolic acid wash and toner for years, but this is far superior! BHA seems to really smooth my skin and give it a glow. It almost looks like I've just had a facial every time I use it. I have mostly dry skin but still get the occasional blemish. I also have the beginnings of the "11's" and this seems to smooth those! Two thumbs up!
Can't live without it!
from Kuala Lumpur, Malayasia
I have been using this product for almost 2 years and can't live without it! I came to Paula's Choice after one of my students talked about how she used it and recommended I try it for my hormonal acne. It took another 3 months for me to order it, but once I started using PC products, especially this exfoliant, I knew I was going to use it for life. It makes my skin smooth, even, and reduces breakouts. I've used the liquid BHA, but I just prefer the gel as it goes onto my skin easier. I also use this product day and night after washing my face with a gentle cleanser and prior to putting on moisturizer and SPF (during the day).Recently I moved out of the US and ran out of this exfoliant for almost two weeks. My skin really missed it during that time--it started to feel more clogged and didn't look as bright. Now that I am using it again, I can really feel and see a difference!

One of several PC products that saved my skin!
from Southern CA
I had oily/ moody/ acne prone skin when I first found Paula's Choice's line. I had tried all kinds of skin care lines, fallen for all kinds of ingredient gimmicks... ugh. After doing a LOT of research on ingredients, PH, environmental irritants, etc., etc., I decided to give PC a go. The purity/ concentrations of key ingredients, research-based formulations, and cruelty-free ethos sold me on the brand. The 2% BHA gel was one of the first products I found and began using, starting about 4 months ago. I use this product at night, mixed with the Retinol Booster and the Vitamin C booster and the results have been completely stunning. Not only do I no longer have acne, I no longer have "oily" (or moody!) skin. My skin is basically normal now; blocked pores are minimal, and overall clarity has been seriously enhanced in ways I have not experienced using the barrage of product lines I've tried over the years. The BHA gel will not dry out your skin or make it red. There's no alcohol in the formulation, so the BHA is allowed to perform at its peak -- which it does. Over a relatively short amount of time, if you have skin like I did, you'll very likely see pores start to shrink, forehead wrinkles begin to shallow-out and fade away, and any surface acne issues you might have (as I did) will likely peter out to a stop. They did for me, and my skin was very inflamed and unhappy for a solid 2 years before I discovered PC. This product also plays well under makeup (with moisturizer/ spf/ foundation on top), so if you'd like to amp up your acne and wrinkle fighting regime to a day AND night routine, this stuff can help with that. Outstanding product.

Soft glowing skin
from Cambridge, MA
For the past two months I have been using this product twice daily. Although I broke out a little the first week, my skin has been beautiful since then. Three people have asked me the past week what I use on my skin! I wouldn't say it has reduced fine lines or pore size yet, but my skin tone is incredibly even and I havent had a break out in a long time. My skin is also quite soft.
