Caused a large red rough dry spot on my face!
About Me Beauty Conscious
Comments about 2% BHA Liquid - 4 oz:
I have tried this and the gel salicylic acid exfoliant. I only used it at night. Both caused a red dry rough red to develop on my face. The first time it reached the size of a quarter before I realized what was causing it. It was slightly raised above the skin so I thought it was a zit at first and kept using the product. The next time I tried it I knew right away and stopped using it. It took over a week for the spot to go away the first time. I have never had this happen before with a salicylic acid product. I am trying the 1% lotion thinking that 2% is too strong for my skin. I will write a review for the 1% lotion in a few weeks.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Great Product, Small size
from Toronto, Canada
Just to clarify, this is a review for the product itself, but also for the TRIAL SIZE product.I've been using the BHA Liquid for about a week, and I literally think it saved my skin. I saw a amor improvement in my skin THE NEXT DAY, and I've had only one or two small pimples pop up since using it. My skin, while not yet perfect, is the best it's been since before I started getting acne at age 14. I'm 21 now. I have dry skin, so I probably SHOULD be using the BHA lotion, but I like the liquid because I can see the gunk that gets out of my pores on the cotton pad. It does make my skin a bit dry/flaky, but it's worth it.I will say that although the product claims to help with redness, I find it actually makes me a bit red. I use it twice a day, so maybe that's why, but I'm too scared to only use it once a day because this is the first product where I've actually seen a huge improvement in my skin and I don't want my acne to come back!My only other complaint about the product - I purchased the trial size to try out for a bit before I purchased the full size product - is that it's too small. What I mean is, the people purchasing the trial size are probably people that haven't tried this product yet, like myself. By the time I used the product long enough to know I wanted to purchase the full size, it was almost done. My order is currently on it's way, and I don't think I will have enough product in the trial size to last me until it gets here :( .Still, great product. Only wish I tried it sooner.

Dont use it for oily/acne prone skin!
from Panama City, PANAMA
I bought a trial size just to try it as it says it is suitable for "all skin types". It turned out to be a really bad idea. Do not try it if you have combination/oily skin. It felt so heavy and greasy that when it spilled inside my travel bag I had to use soap to wash it away (yes, the package was leaking, I ended up putting it inside a plastic bag). I was lucky I had a long work trip to a very dry place so after a few days my skin got drier and I used the product. My review does not apply to people with dry skin tough (thus my 3 stars, not 1)!!!

I love this!
from Las Vegas, NV
I've had it for three months now. But I recently have used it consistently for the past two-three weeks and it's almost a miracle. I have enlarged pores on my nose and my cheeks. When I use this product consistently, it really showed results within a week or two! I'm really surprised how much this has made a difference on my skin. I normally use it at night with the niacinamide. Definitely recommend.

This product is transforming my skin! I already use a mild BHA daily in a treatment product but I find this works wonders applied at night. Definitely recommend.

My go to product.

Have been using Paula's 2% BHA liquid for @ least 10 years. Can tell when I don't use as that's when the texture of my skin starts to look uneven and rough. Still have oily combination skin (even though I'm 64 now). I use this product every am (under SPF product). I use Rx tretinion @ night. It is a little greasy when I first put on but after a few minutes it goes away.A minor thing; such a great product that I can't be without.

Can't live without it.
from NL, Canada
I cannot be without this product. I'm 30, and have struggled with my skin ever since I was in junior high. Thankfully, I've never suffered from the severe cystic acne or rosacea that some people do, but I've always been prone to mild to moderate breakouts. I have tried so many products; none of them worked, and many of them irritated or dried out my skin, causing redness and flaking.I started using this product about six months ago, and it has made more of a difference to the quality of my skin than any other product I've ever tried. I know it's not explicitly marketed to fight acne per se, but the unclogging of the pores must have been the key thing for me. I have noticed a substantial reduction in breakouts, reduced pore size, elimination of blackheads, near-elimination of white bumps, and a more even skin tone. I use this as part of my evening routine (cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize). I do find it takes a while to dry, which is no good for me in the a.m., as I don't have time to wait before moving on to apply sunscreen and make up. My skin is quite sensitive, so I wouldn't use this twice a day, so the evening application works great for me. Sometimes it stings a tiny bit, but it does not cause redness. Once it dries, I apply my moisturizer and any slight stinging goes away and my skin is happy. I have combination skin - leaning oily on my nose and chin, drier around the eyes, and normal everywhere else, with the aforementioned sensitivity (yay, lol). This product works for me, so should be suitable for most skin types. Strongly recommend to help combat clogged pores and mild to moderate break outs. Paula's Choice is the best < 3
Worked like a charm
from Las Vegas
Let me start by saying that before Paula's choice, I never really knew what a "skin routine" meant for me. I'm really into makeup, so when YouTuber's would post skin care routines they never seemed to cater to my ultra sensitive skin. A friend of mine recommended the "Think Dirty" app and ever since then I began to wonder what was really in my skin care products. This review is aimed at the skeptics- search this website for the article about developing a skincare routine- it will change your life! I have combo skin that gets ultra oily in the T-zone during the summer- which causes breakouts. I was on the verge of giving up and going to get pills from a dermatologist (who recommended toxic cetaphil to me in the first place) and then I found Paula's choice. I WILL say, in the time I have used this product I haven't noticed a drastic change to under the skin blemish scars near my face, but I will update after I have used it longer. They are, however, smoother and less apparent and most of all- way less acne! My skin is clearing up like a charm. I used this with the earth toner, redness relief cleanser, and rose water and glycerin (not paula's) for day and "simple" moisturizer for night. I plan to upgrade my night time moisturizer soon. This product is perfect for people like me, who have small black heads and pimples but everyone says "you don't have acne" and brushes it under the rug... It is not irritating (I have adult ezema) and cleans deep down to the pores even my clarisonic didn't reach. Enjoy!

not a miracle product for me

About Me Minimalist
Was having brutal breakouts in acne prone skin, and my sister (with very similar skin) recommended this product to me. This product ended up just drying my skin out and making the breakouts worse! Finally just bit the bullet and went to a dermatologist, and now things are much better. Not a miracle cure - go see a dermatologist!
Does what is advertised
from Vancouver, BC
While this product hasn't been a miracle worker for me, it does do what it says it will and for that reason I enjoy using it. I don't have much acne but I do have VERY congested skin and lots of clogged pores and small comedones. The first few weeks I started using this I did noticed my skin getting a bit worse - however this was expected (and exactly what I wanted it to do anyway) as the product was bringing all the oil plugs in my pores to the surface where they could be more easily extracted. By about week 4 this stopped and now my skin feels much smoother and even. It's too greasy for me to use during the day so I only use it at night. It's dried my skin out a lot even with once a day use but I also assume (based on others' reviews) that this will subside after a while. My skin isn't perfect by any means right now, but it has improved.Overall, not a miracle worker and not without it's downsides, but it did do the one thing I wanted it to do (unclog my pores) and did so more effectively than anything else I've ever tried. I'd recommend it for that reason if you have congested skin like I do (or did).
