Great for Summer Mornings
from White Plains, NY
About Me Beauty Conscious
Comments about 8% AHA Gel - 3.3 oz:
In the summer, I use this in the AM rather than my BHA exfoliant. Then I just use my BHA at night to deep clean my pores from the day's dirt and pollution. It works like a charm and my skin seems to find it less irritating than using the BHA both morning and night. The only drawback is you can't use this with the vitamin C serums as it will leave your skin pink from irritation. Which is why I don't typically use this in the winter - because my skin needs to extra boost of moisture the resist super anti-ox serum gives in the AM.

Great for sun damage
from San Francisco, CA
I got this exfoliant to help with the sun spots that have been popping up on my skin in this summer weather. With a good sunscreen this works well to reduce visible sun damage. I only wish this came in a lotion formula as I have very dry skin and need all the help with moisture I can get. I could have sworn there was a lotion formula for AHA a few years ago on the paulas choice website but it seems to have been discontinued? It's a shame because I preferred the lotion texture to the gel.

This product came in a kit I ordered. I tried to use it as suggested but it was just too irritating at the time so I put it away in the cupboard. Big clue though, it was the skin recovery kit I had ordered and I had very bad skin at the time; water even irritated it. Every other product in the kit worked beautifully and I ordered some more products. A few months ago I tried the AHA gel again and to my surprise it didn't irritate my skin but the results were amazing. I started using it every day. I think that it was too much for my extremely sensitive skin in the beginning, but after using the other products to recover my skin to a better state it works like a charm! It might be a good idea for other people who initially experience irritation to allow their skin to recover before trying this gel.

About Me Beauty Expert
I have been using for a few months now. I have sensitive skin, and if I use it too frequently it I experience some dryness and irritation. So it took some playing to find the perfect exfoliation schedule, but it was worth it. I use it at night, twice a week. I have had huge benefits from this product used in conjunction with the 2% BHA lotion and PC's Resist serum and Vitamin C booster. A MUST product.

About Me Minimalist
I used this every night at bedtime and really like the results. I have previously used BHA products since I have combination skin and BHA is supposed to be better for combination and oily skin. However, I get much better results with AHA products (I've tried to change to BHA several times during the past few years and keep returning to AHA products). This is a very light gel. I used to have a blemish either coming or going, but have not had any since I've started using this about a month ago. I've also noticed that after a couple weeks of use, my skin seems a bit smoother. I use less foundation and it blends a little easier. I like the dispenser since it protects the product and still allows me to pump exactly the amount I need (a little less than a full pump for my entire face). There is no scent and I follow with the Vit C serum and my nightly moisturizer. I'm very pleased with the results and have had no issue with my sensitive, mature skin.

Gentle exfoliant; just bought a new bottle
By J Atl

I've been using this exfoliant most mornings for probably almost a year. I'll be up front and honest about the changes I've noticed and the way I feel overall:This AHA exfoliant is gentle, doesn't irritate or sting when I apply it all over my face, and the lightweight, low-viscosity gel absorbs very quickly with no residue. I use it in the morning under my moisturizer, and use a 2% BHA at night. The BHA is a bit too strong to use A.M. and P.M. for me - occasionally I notice a little redness on my face - so that's why I alternate with an AHA in the morning. (Since I wear makeup, I like the BHA at night because it is oil-soluble and can penetrate the pores). I find this AHA soothing and gentle, as I stated, and never causes any redness. It's one of my Paula's Choice "holy grails" - it's a good value for me. You can do better, perhaps, with the Resist line AHA, but as I don't have an endless money supply :) this one is just perfect for me, and I make sure all the "anti-aging" goodies (just to lump them all together) are in my moisturizers! All in all, I'm super-pleased with this product and I just purchased my second bottle.

Made me break out
from Chicago, IL
I love a lot of PC products but sadly this product made me break out after a week of use along my jaw and neck so I stopped using it. I had already done the whole "purging" with other products but would eventually regret it so I stopped use in a short period.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I should really be on retinols right now; but due to breastfeeding I am just using an AHA as my "anti-aging" routine. This 8% AHA is great! I have been using it for about 2-1/2 months, and my skin is clearer, smoother, more even toned, overall healthier than it was before I started. I am using all PC products at this point, and they are all working well for me. My skin is more even, and healthier. In the past my skin has been super temperamental--- dry/flaky/red patches around my chin and mouth, breakouts on my cheeks and forehead, crazy big pores on my nose, uneven skintone, laugh lines, beginning to get lip lines, lines around my eyes, and forehead crease. I use the AHA every night after using PC creamy cleanser, and follow the AHA up with PC intense thick moisturizer when needed. In the morning it is the PC creamy cleanser and Calm Redness Relief SPF 30 (BEST SPF Moisture that I have ever used).
Really wanted it to work
from San Diego, CA
I had really high hopes for this as I heard it was great to help prevent wrinkles and just good anti-aging. However, it caused me to have the worst breakout i have ever had, I occasionally get a pimple here and there, but i had so many new pimples 3 days after using this, and they still have not healed. In the past I would never really get andy painful whiteheads, but this gave me terrible whiteheads. Overall I wouldn't recommend this due to the terrible results on my skin.

I've used (and enjoyed) the 5% AHA for years, but decided to up my game with the 8%. I have normal - sensitive skin that is not particularly acne prone. I use the AHAs as a general exfoliant for brighter skin, not really to fight acne. I used this entire bottle (one application in the AM daily, occasional application in the evenings - not every night) and did not find that it seemed to do much of anything. I think it was lightly exfoliating my skin, but I didn't notice anything beyond what the 5% does (no WOW moments) and it does not come with the added benefit of the great texture of the 5%. I also used it on my (dry, patchy) elbows and KP and didn't see any improvement there either. In general, this could be helpful for those of you with oily skin (it soaks in and is non greasy) that doesn't pair well with the 5%, but beyond that I don't recommend.
