    Very Nice Cleanser
    • First I would like to thank customer service for helping me with product selection. I have been using Paula's products for several years but needed a new routine. My usual normal to dry skin & even drier in winter decided to produce more oil. While I was a tad skeptical about using a gel cleanser...I love it. It does not dry out my skin but is very effective in removing excess oil.

    Seeing improvement
    • I'm 57 years old and have struggled with Rosacea since entering menopause. Splotchy redness, enlarged and congested pores, thickening skin. I've tried many products, prescription and over the counter. Recently I ordered the full Hydralight kit. The moisture-infusing lotion seems to be too much- oily breakouts on my chin. BUT, my pores are looking better than they have with any previous treatment and my overall color is more even. I'm excited to see SOMETHING finally making a difference.

    Awesome Cleanser!!
    • Over this past winter my oily and never sensitive skin started to freak out. After cleansing I was getting irritation even from Paula's toner (Hydralight) and Paula's creams. I started using Moisture Rich line even. Still, irritation and redness, flaking big time.... until it dawned on me!!!! I ran out of Paula's Cleanser and started using La Roche Posay cleanser which I usually use in the summer with no issues. I switched to Hydralight One Step- after a few days my skin returned to normal!

    Teeny bit drying
    • I find this cleanser a bit drying to use twice a day. It's perfect at night to remove makeup, but if I use it in the morning I end up with visible skin flakes. I don't really feel that I need to cleanse at all in the morning after applying the 1%BHA and the Hydralite moisturise at night. My skin looks and feels so good when I get up that a splash of water and a swipe of Skin Recovery Toner is all I need. Oily skin would love this cleanser though.

    Try it today!
    • I am in my mid-40's and have experienced mild acne since my early teens. Like many of you, I'm sure I have spent thousands on beauty products hoping to calm my acne prone, oily, sensitive skin. I discovered PC Hydra light system about three years ago and haven't looked back. I will NEVER use any other products. You've got to try PC. Go on....do it today!

    Oily Faces Will Love This!
    • Once upon a time, I had extremely oily skin and this was the perfect, perfect cleanser for me. It always cleansed thoroughly without making my face tight, even following a makeup remover (Bioderma Crealine). Since moving to a new city however, my skin has become quite dry due to the change in climate. Sadly, the Hydralight does not remove all of my makeup on its own and preceding it with makeup remover is a little drying. This is perfect for oily skin though. (Skin Balancing is my new match!)

    Hello old friend!
    • I used this cleanser with the matching toner back when the product line launched. I have used newer PC products as they have come out, but I decided to go old school. Glad I did. Despite my skin now being slightly dry, this cleanser works well without leaving my skin dry or tight. I love (and missed) the light, refreshing gel texture. Paired with the Hydralight toner and new Resist 2% BHA Pore Refining Treatment (mixed with the 15% vitamin C) my already good skin is looking great.

    Very gentle!
    • My other cleanser often made my face very tight and dry. The PC hydralight cleanser leaves my skin feeling just right - not too dry and not too oily. I like how my skin isn't irritated by the ingredients and I can also clean my eye area better without the product irritating my eyes. I like how the cleanser is fragrance free. The pricing is excellent, 8 oz of cleanser will go a long way. Will buy again :)

    Great gentle cleaner
    • This is a nice gentle cleanser that leaves your skin feeling clean without drying it out. Can use is the shower or easily rinses of well washing your face over the sink. I like the fact that it's not a foaming cleanser

    • This refreshing cleaner is gentle yet gets my skin squeaky clean without any dryness. I would prefer a pump dispenser, but that's just me. Thank you for the wonderful product.

    Feels great!
    • This cleanser feels really good when I apply it in the shower. You don't need to ever use that much with PC products too which is nice. This product is a good size bottle but other products come in smaller containers - but with almost all products a dime size amount is all you need, which I love!

    exceptional cleanser
    • I am very much a foaming-cleanser kind of girl. I never thought I would like something that does not foam, but this thing is fantastic. No cleanser gets off all your make-up in one shot, but this really does clean incredibly well, getting off almost ALL my makeup, with just a trace turning up on a toner-soaked cotton after. Rinses off completely clean and feels great. Not for drier skins though. It can leave you a bit tight if you're dry. Definitely ideal for combo or oily. Swipe toner on after.

Good, but not PC's best for me
    • I tried a this with the Hydralight complete system sample set. Compared to the Skin Balancing cleanser (my fave), this is more gel-like and removes more oil. This is fine if you have consistently oily skin, but my skin is wonky combination-type. Skin Balancing was slightly more awesome for me. :) Hope this helps anyone trying to choose between these two great cleansers!

    Don't like scent
    • This cleanser is ok, but I don't care for the scent. It removes my makeup (I remove my eye makeup first with another product.) but it didn't impress me. I will finish using it up but I don't plan to reorder. I have very oily acne prone skin, and over the last 2 years I have tried all her cleansers that are suited to my skin type, and haven't found one that I loved. They were all just ok.

    PREFER THE SKIN BALANCING
    • I'm 54, normal to slightly oil, hormonal acne, chemically sensitive with contact dermatitis from formaldehyde resin (in nail polish) bismuth oxide (some mineral makeups) essential oils and SPF Oxybenzone or SPF Oxtinoxate. I stopped using all toner. I prefer the 2% BHA liquid for a toner after using the skin balancing cleaner. I've done a lot of tweaking (not twerking). Although the hydralight is a good cleanser and I have used it for many months in the past, skin balancing cleanser is it!

Love this Mixed 50/50 with Skin Balancing Cleanser
    • I have normal to oily combination skin that responds perfectly to a mix of skin balancing and hydralight cleansers. The skin balancing seems to offer the deeper cleaning I need for my pores, while the hydralight adds a gentler touch for my somewhat sensitive skin. I've been doing this for years, just right for me.

    Does not clean
    • Purchased this cleanser as it was on sale and was very disappointed as it did not clean my make up even when I used it with a wash cloth, and multiple times over! Customer care is excellent as they exchanged this product for free and sent me my usual Skin Balancing Cleanser which is the best cleanser ever. I love Paula's products and have been a satisfied customer for over 5 years. But the Hydra Light Cleanser has gotta go!

    Too strong for my skin
    • I wanted to like this. I have an oily t-zone with large pores and hoped this would help. I started off just using this at night and my old cleanser during the day. That seemed OK so I switched to this both morning and night. It dried out my skin and my face felt irritated all day. Unwisely, I tried it again and not only did my face feel irritated but how I have some small red bumps. I'm going to order a cleanser with more moisture, hopefully that will help out and clear up these bumps.

Not my favorite of Paula's cleansers
    • I have used most of Paula's cleansers at different times, and this one is not my favorite. I don't love the clear, thin, gel consistency and it does not remove my eye makeup. The other cleansers do. Different cleansers work for different people and this one just isn't for me.

    Even better than expected!
    • I bought some for my mom, who is 75 with oily skin, brown spots and skin tags. She was amazed to find her brown spots fading and her skin tags disappearing after a few months of use, plus it controlled the shine and oil production to give her skin a nice matte look. She doesn't use computers but wanted me to tell you she never wants to be without your products again; the improvement in her skin at her age wasn't something she expected, but is thrilled to see!

Not as good as Skin Balancing Cleanser
    • I thought the Hydralight would be good in the summer for my combination skin, but it seems that the gel formula is too drying for my skin and did nothing for my blackheads. The Skin Balancing Cleanser suits my skin much better because of the lotion formula and is more effective in combatting blackheads and large pores. Back to Skin Balancing I go.....

    Does not clean
    • This is definitely a gentle product, but it didn't work like a cleanser for me at all! Would not remove my PC's foundation--I was shocked by how much makeup remained when I used toner after this cleanser!

Thank you for your review and we're sorry to hear this product didn't work out for you. This is a gentle cleanser that effectively removes most types of makeup; however, a separate eye makeup remover may be necessary to remove tenacious, long-wearing products such as waterproof mascara or lip stains. Please contact our Customer Care team and they will be happy to assist you with a return and/or exchange.

    The core of my regimen
    • I've been using this cleanser exclusively for years and it's great for combination skin- your face is clean but not dried out. Dry skin can't heal itself, so even though dry FEELS like clean, it isn't helping you. Drying cleansers just make your face crank out more oil. This product leaves your skin feeling clean without the tight feeling. However, The new packaging tends to dump out massive amounts of product per squeeze, resulting in a lot of waste. The old bottle/cap did not do this.

    Definition of a gentle cleanser
    • I have sensitive, blemish prone skin that alternates between combination dry and oily and this works well for my skin regardless what kind of shape it's in. Only complaint is it doesn't take off makeup quite as well as some soaps although it's nice it's water soluble, (I only use a tinted SPF and mineral powder) and I still believe some exfoliating scrub is necessary during the week even with a BHA or AHA product because this is so mild you don't always feel quite clean especially when oilier.
