Not for dry, sensitive skin!
About Me Brand Buyer
Comments about SKIN RECOVERY Cleanser - 16 oz:
This can't possibly be for dry, very dry skin. After rinising my skin feels tight and dry, even more than before I washed it. I use many of Paula's products and this is one that just doesn't measure up.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This has a light, but strange smell that reminds me of stale beer. One of the last things I want to smell in the morning or before bed is a reminder of my college sorority basement, lol -- but that is the memory it elicits. Is it supposed to have a slight alcohol-y smell? Others says 'smells great' - stale beer not a great smell to me. Maybe there is something wrong with mine?Other than that, it goes on nicely, I think I've been using more than I need to so will correct that. Willing to see it through to finish and see if it makes a difference in my 60 year old skin, which isn't bad, but I'm always looking to protect it from looking like 60 year old skin. : )

My skin type is super finicky. Mainly dry and occasionally I will get *slightly* oily in parts. And also VERY clogged pore prone. I use this product twice a day, with my Clarisonic. I was hesitant at first because there is almost no lather so I worried my Clarisonic was just kinda wiping it off. But it wasn't and I love this cleanser! It is very gentle and leaves your skin feeling clean and supple. I remove my makeup before so I can't speak for how it removes makeup. This does everything a cleanser should. Be gentle on your skin, clean you skin, wash off easily and completely and won't clog your pores. If you are looking for a good cream cleanser, get this!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

One of the worst cleansers I've ever tried
from New Jersey
About Me Budget Buyer
I started using a medication that caused dryness in my normally oily skin. Since my doctor warned me about this side effect, I went looking for good products for dry skin. In the meantime, I continued to use my drug store brand cleansers and moisturizers for several weeks. I purchased the cleanser, toner and AM/PM moisturizers in this line. After using them for a week, my skin was so dry that it was flaking off, and I was breaking out all over my face, both small bumps and a large painful pimple right in the middle of my cheek. The cleanser doesn't remove makeup. I've washed my face twice with a washcloth and I still saw makeup on the cotton ball when I applied the toner. One wash left my skin feeling tight and dry, the fact that I always needed to wash twice meant that washing my face became a fairly unpleasant ritual and the moisturizing toner didn't help at all. I thought it might be a side effect of the medicine so I went back to using my old sensitive skin cleanser and my skin started clearing up immediately. The pimples are clearing up and the flaking has stopped. Maybe my skin just reacted badly to one of the ingredients in one of the products but I'm not willing to experiment on my face to figure out which one of the items in this line caused the problem, it's all going back

Best Eye Makeup Remover I've Ever Used
from Bartlett, IL
I wear several coats of mascara upper and lower lashes, and in the past, I've had a hard time finding a cleanser that takes off mascara. Not only that, but at times I've used one cleanser for skin and one for eye makeup remover. Some cleansers even state not to use in the eye area. Skin Recovery cleanser is amazing. It removes every trace of mascara along with my makeup. My skin feels clean and soft. No residue. No greasy feeling. This cleanser never fails to impress.

Very happy long term user
from Snohomish, WA
I struggle with skin products because I have rosacea. Now that I am older, my skin has also gotten quite dry. It has always been very sensitive. To top it off, I have severe allergies and can't stand scented products on my face. This cleanser checks all the buttons for me. I have been using it for a long time with excellent results. I noticed several comments about inadequate makeup removal. It removes mine just fine. In fairness, I only use light makeup and no eye makeup (eyes are too sensitive). Perhaps the problems some have had with this product relate more to eye makeup. On the rare occasions I do wear eye makeup, I use a makeup remover first.

Great formula - slightly misleading name
About Me Minimalist
This is the product that hooked me on Paula's Choice. I initially ordered a cleanser that was a little too drying, but PC did a switch-a-roo with no questions, and I've not used another cleanser since. Although the name "Skin Recovery" suggests that this cleanser is for hard-core repair operations, I use it daily and love how soft and clean my skin feels.Note: I don't tend to wear make-up and when I do, I use a make-up remover before I wash my face; therefore, I'm not a reliable witness to whether this cleanser easily removes make-up.

Best eye makeup remover I've ever used
About Me Beauty Expert
I've tried lots of eyemake up removers, and this cleanser bests them all. I used 3 or more coats of mascara on my lashes because, with age, they are thinning. The cleanser removes every last spec. My skin is dry, and I find the cleanser to be soothing and leaves my skin with a soft smooth finish. Honestly, this is the best. Try the Skin Recovery line if you are menopausal and suffering dry skin. Cannot beat this line anywhere, any price.

About Me Skin Care Professional
Love the product and use it with my Clarisonic, the only negative is that its the only cleanser that I have used to actually leave a bad smell in my Clarisonic unless I thoroughly clean it afterwards.

Over the last few years I have tried every single Paula's cleanser and held off on this one assuming that since it is advertised on the the far end of the spectrum for the driest skin types, it couldn't possibly be right for me. The Hydralight cleanser was my favorite Paula's cleanser and recently discontinued. (The replacement in the Calm-Oily line did not calm skin.) I used the Resist Perfectly Balanced cleanser all summer but it left my skin, well, unbalanced. The Resist Optimal Results cleanser samples I tried did not leave my skin feeling clean or fresh. Aside from all that, I had been juggling between Cerave cleansers and Olay's sensitive skin formula. Nothing was awesome. Then on an intuitive whim I decided to drastically revamp my routine. I ordered the full size without even sampling and after one week of using this cleanser morning and night, my skin is the most comfortable and happy it's been in seriously years. A cleanser can make that big of a difference! My skin is not "mature." I'm 30, with very congestion and breakout prone skin that is, on the flip side, extremely sensitive and tending easily towards dehydration that is hard to catch up with. This cleanser rinses off clean, unlike any made for dry skin that I've tried before. It doesn't leave my skin feeling greasy or like there's a mask of yuck on it, but even more effectively than the Moisture Boost/Calm for dry cleansers ever did, it gets rid of the whole "desert on the top pores on the bottom" problem skin. It just smooths everything while actually getting it clean. I don't find I need a washcloth to rinse, but an exfoliant brush or something a few times a week can definitely help turn over skin since it is on the gentler, and therefore probably less exfoliating side. The best thing is that I'm noticing my usually small but gunky pores clearing up. Used along with the matching Skin Recovery Toner and CLEAR reg. strength 2% BHA, I can feel these next two products sinking into my skin much more thoroughly, and I can only gather it's because my skin has been mildly irritated/unbalanced all this time, and that this cleanser is key to keeping it calm and well-behaved. Paula's Choice seems to be growing as a company and growth also means change, which we've been seeing a lot of this year, but please do not change anything about the Skin Recovery line!!
