Not much to dislike, but found it irritates
from Los Angeles
About Me Brand Buyer
Comments about RESIST Hydrating Cleanser - 6.4 oz:
Over the past year and a half, I switched to using physical sunscreen because chemical ones were irritating my skin. Unfortunately, physical sunscreens tend to dry my skin, so I've had to switch to more emollient cleansers, which I tend to use at night. I tried a full bottle of Paula's Choice Optimal Results Hydrating Cleanser in the hopes it would be a good solution for me.I found the texture to be amazing--creamy and elegant, but not too lotion-like. Upon adding some water, the cleanser becomes fabulously cushiony and slippery, which is ideal for not pulling and dragging on skin. It is fragrance free, with many skin-beneficial ingredients. The product is not drying, but also doesn't make me extra oily, which is a nice balance. On the surface, there is nothing to dislike about this cleanser. On the less positive side, I found the cleanser to sometimes be irritating, probably due to an ingredient sensitivity. I also needed quite a bit to cover both face and neck. Given the hefty price, I find this is a poor value for money. The biggest negative for me is that I did not see much difference between this cleanser and less expensive ones that don't have "anti-aging" properties. In fact, I find Paula's Choice own Skin Recovery cleanser to be much better because it is more soothing and a tiny bit goes much further. One final nit--although the packaging feels heavy and luxurious, it is kind of a pain to handle. I know that people were begging for pump dispensers, but I find that the product thickness means having to put a lot of pressure on the pump, and the tall, narrow bottle can easily slip. As an alternative, holding the bottle to pump doesn't work well with damp hands. I definitely prefer PC's shampoo-bottle style for facial cleansers. I probably will not repurchase, but do think this product is worth trying.

My year-round cleanser
About Me Budget Buyer
I decided to try this cleanser a few years ago when winter hit since my normally oily-ish skin started drying out from the cold weather and constant inside heat. It's very soothing for my skin. I actually started using it all year now. The only concern is I wish it was in a flip top container instead of a pump. When the product is low I have to turn it upside down to get the last amount of cleanser but even then I feel like I lose some valuable product. I won't stop using this but please maybe consider changing the packaging. Or maybe someone can suggest a way for me to get the last bit of product out of the pump bottle w/o wasting product? Thanks Paula for your great products!

Rinses clean, removes all sunscreen + makeup
from Seattle, WA
I have dry, sensitive, rosacea skin and cannot double-cleanse because it overstrips and senstitizes my skin. Because of that I am always looking for a great one-step cleanser that will remove my sunscreen and foundation. This cleanser is special in that it removes all traces of sunscreen and makeup in one step, and yet it rinses completely clean with no greasy feeling left behind. For me this is a perfect summer cleanser, but for winter I need a richer, more moisturizing cleanser to combat winter dry + flaky skin. Highly recommend for normal skin all year-round and for dry skin in summer.

Resist Hydrating Cleanser is Uncomfortable on my face
from Saint Germain-en-Laye, France
I have always used this cleanser. Recently, I started using Vitamin C, AHA, BHA, Serums with Retinol and Retin A. My skin is so dry that when I wash it with this cleanser, it stings and burns my face.I switched to Skin Recovery Cream Cleanser which is perfect for me since I have been using it. I hope to go back to the Hydrating Cleanser, as I have 4 more bottles to use up.
Great for oily sensitive skin
I have tried the RESIST for Oily/Combo skin line, the clear line, and skin balancing line, and I prefer this cleanser to them all. It is gentle and balancing, and leaves my sensitive skin feeling soothed and clean. One of my favorite PC products and use daily!
This is a gentle cleanser with a smooth texture that truly softens skin without drying. I can't say it's moisturizing but it definitely makes my skin feel great after using it. Because I use some heavy duty makeup, I need to wipe it off with a makeup remover first. Resist Hydrating Cleanser removes the last traces of makeup even around the eyes. No stinging of the eyes! Try this, you'll like it!
Perfect for me!
About Me Minimalist
This is perfect for me. I like that it's non-drying but still takes off my make-up (I generally wear light make-up so I don't know how effective it would be for heavy make-up). It's soothing and non-drying and yet it rinses off cleanly and without residue.

Burns. my Eyes
from Haleiwa, HI
About Me Beauty Conscious
I'm new to Paula's Choice skin care, and am in love with the Resist line for normal to dry skin. This cleanser smells lovely, thoroughly removes my make-up and leaves my skin feeling hydrated, yet clean. It works wonderfully with my Clarisonic, too. However, I am disappointed to say that the cleanser burns my eyes when I use it to remove my eye make-up, and for that reason I feel obligated to give it 3 stars. I will use it until it is completely empty, but will not repurchase it. That being said, I will continue to use all of the other products. Mahalo!

Much To Be Desired
By The Analyst
from Little Rock, AR
I have combination skin, however, overtime my skin has become much more dry which is why I am searching for a new cleanser to add to my current regimen. Cerave Hydrating cleanser is my product of choice, but I've been curious about Paula's Choice, so I bought samples of this product. Overall this product is far from hydrating; it leaves my skin the opposite of hydrated. After cleansing with this product, my skin feelse dry and tight, which is what I would expect from a foaming face wash. Overall I am happy that I purchased the samples instead, seeing that this product is very pricey.
I found my cleanser!
from Surrey, BC
Since I decided that Cetaphil wasn't doing a good enough job for me, I've tried several different cleansers - both PC and drugstore brands. Nothing every completely satisfied me until I tried this. It is thick and creamy and feels nice to use. It rinses well and leaves my skin feeling neutral - not dry OR overly moisturized. I wanted to stop using a toner to cut down on my bedtime routine, and with this, I am able to. I usually don't use foundation, but the few times I have this cleanser got all of it off - I followed with toner and the cotton pad was completely clean! I don't recall that ever happening with ANY cleanser I've ever used. This is IT for me. My search is over. LOVE IT!
