    LOVE IT!
    • I am completely in love with this! Cleanser takes all the makeup off with only few of it. Toner is great. I LOVE the exfoliant, the pores on my nose and the sides of it are a little bigger and almsot as soon as I put the exfoliant they reduces. Love the daytime moisturizer. It has great SPF, maybe a bit shiny but I put foundation and it works great. Night time moisturizer is great too! Totally recommand it!

    Good System
    • I loved this system! Everything about it but especially the Hydrating Treatment Cream to use at night. Unfortunately, my skin has changed with the season. I think I have to put this aside until my skin is less dry and the weather here in Alabama gets more humidity in the Spring. I just ordered samples of the Skin Recovery System to try and will most likely be ordering that as well.

    "No fine lines"
    • I used this system all spring and summer (I use the Skin Recovery system in the winter), and when I went for my dermatology check up in October, the doctor said (with the bright light shining on my face) "Your skin looks pretty good, no fine lines". By the way, I'll be 51 in three months. All I was thinking was; thank you, Paula! Nearly 51, and a dermatologist is telling me I have no fine lines. I love that the daily moisturizer doesn't irritate my skin. I used it all summer. Love this system!

    My skin get Irritated
    • I bought the sample set for testing. It was good for me. But, when I started to use the full size, something happened. After 2 weeks, my skin get irritated. I stopped for 2 weeks, but when I restart to use them, I still felt uncomfortable. I think it should be the toner and the 1% Beta Hydroxy Acid Lotion. Now, I can only use the cleanser and the Moisturizer sometimes. I don't want to disappoint others, but if your skin may be sensitive (Actually, I'm not sensitive skin), consider carefully.

    3 weeks with Moisture Boost
    • I love the Moisture Boost System. At first, my skin broke out in tiny bumps, almost a sandpaper texture. I continued to use the entire system for two more days, and then contacted Customer Service. They said to try using the BHA lotion only 2-3 times per week, rather than everyday. Since I have done that I have noticed a huge change. My skin looks clearer and brighter. I have been using the system for 3 weeks, and only use the BHA at night 3 times a week.

    Love it.
    • After my skin threw a tantrum, I tried everything, but nothing worked. I heard about Paula's Choice, chatted with a consultant, and she recommended this system. Frankly, I thought she was mistaken, but I gave it a shot. After the first use, my skin was softer. After a week, it was clearer. After two weeks, it was smoother. She was so right! The Moisture Boost system has been wonderful so far. Thanks, Paula's Choice!

    Hit and Miss
    • I have been using these products for three months and have not seen much change in my skin, with the exception of being slightly less dry, but still flaky in parts and oily in others, with some breakouts. I still have the same amount of acne and annoying blackheads on my forehead and jawline area. Seems the BHA lotion has had zero affect. The moisturizers in this pack are the only items I would consider repurchasing. I do applaud the nighttime moisturizer - its silky and gets absorbed quickly.

Like some of it, wish I wouldn't have bought it all
    • I tried the sample kit and it worked well for me. I purchased the full-sized products and within a week I was having some intense breakouts. I contacted the customer service folks and they reccommended a stronger exfoliant and sent me a sample of the regular strength Clear exfoliator. It has taken a month, but the products are working alright together, but I still break out. Now I have two products in a set that I don't use, which stinks. I love the PC products that work for my skin.

    • It took me awhile to find the right combo of Paula's Choice Products that work the best depending on the time of year it is where I live. During the winter months when it gets dry, the Skin Recovery Cleanser, 2%BHA lotion, and Skin Recovery Moisturizers help my skin to stay clear and hydrated. During the summer months when it gets hot and humid I have found that the Skin Balancing products along with the 2%BHA gel and the Shine Stopper Instant Matte Finish (best product for shine control ever!!) on my t-zone keeps my face free from blemishes but not tight. I have also found that my cheeks require a more moisturizing product than my t-zone, so I adjust the moisturizers for the time of year. I can't say enough about Paula's Choice products as a whole. If you can't find a System here that works for you, keep trying different combos. The customer service team was great in helping me figure out what worked for me, and my skin hasn't looked or felt this good in years!

    Fantastic Results In Two Weeks
    • I have always been sceptical of cosmetic claims and I have never written a product review. However, after just two weeks of using the Essential Moisture Boost System, I am a believer. I've tried many expensive product lines and though they did moisturize as promised, I have always had redness and uneven complexion. After using Paula's products for 24 hours there was a very noticeable decrease in redness. The toner in the system is very soothing and calming. I was always puzzled by the use of heavy fragrance in expensive cosmetic brands and I was very pleased to find all of Paula's products are fragrance free. Although I am 52 years old, wrinkles are not a major concern. The fine lines I did have have softened greatly with the use of Paula's system. I did use redness correcting treatment and foundation before starting with these products. I now use no foundation or other cover-up. My skin is completely even toned with no redness. The price of these products is another factor that has convinced me to gradually replace all of my beauty products and make-up with Paula's Choice. I have finally found a company I can trust for my beauty needs.

Super happy with first Paula's Choice purchase
    • I have tried all kinds of skin care products, from drug stores, expensive department stores and all natural/organic shops and this set works better than anything I have ever used. I feel like I have the skin I always thought I should have as a young person (I am 25). My skin has a nice glow to it and I don't need to wear any foundation. Another thing about this product is that even though I don't really break out every more, once in a very little while I might get a break out and I found while using this set that my break outs were much smaller and cleared up extremely quickly, like within 2 to 3 days rather than a week or more. I think its because the products are very soothing. I would by all of the products in this set again with the exception of the 1% BHA lotion. While I found it effective I preferred the sample of the 2% BHA liquid I received with my order. Great purchase!

    not great for me
    • We have pretty harsh, dry winters where I live and I was tired of having tight, dry skin all of the time. My skin is also prone to blemishes/breakouts. I used the entire system for a few weeks but didn't notice much improvement in the dryness of my skin. I did not like the way the 1% BHA lotion smelled, and with my blemish prone skin I found that the 2% BHA liquid or gel worked better (and smelled better) at clearing up my blemishes. I spoke with Customer Service about a more hydrating system, but they said with my blemish prone skin, this was the most moisturizing system I should go with. We vacationed to a much warmer/humid area for a week and my face broke out horribly while we were there. I didn't want to give up on the system completely, so I waited a few weeks and my skin condition went back to its pre-vacation condition (dry, tight, with some blemishes). I discovered that my skin felt better after I stopped using the toner (it would leave my skin feeling slightly red and irritated) and I would have sent it back for a refund but my 60 day window had already passed. I will continue using the system for now (minus the toner) because my skin has a few fewer blemishes than before I started using the system, but it is still pretty dry and tight. I have a feeling that as the weather gets warmer and more humid here I will have to find something else so I don't have a repeat experience of when I went on vacation earlier this winter! The Customer Service team was very helpful in recommending the 2% BHA for my skin, but I just wish I could find something that would relieve the dryness I constantly feel without causing more breakouts! Customer Care Response: Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear of your experience with the products. We do understand that each customer is uniquely different in how they will respond to products or ingredients. This along with everyday environmental factors can sometimes play a part in how someone will ultimately respond to a product or combination of products. We have located your account information and applied a credit for the products. We will send you some of the Skin Recovery samples to see how your skin responds and hopefully they will be more moisturizing but not lead to blemishes or breakouts. Please contact customer care with any questions.

    Great!
    • I've been using this system for a month now, and I love it! I've been on Accutane for 2.5 months now and as a result my skin was very dry and flaky. I wanted to use Paula's products for a long time now, and bought this kit from a recommendation from the Live Chat with an expert, and I'm so glad I did! The moisture levels in my skin improved in a few days, and it has not aggravated any breakouts at all. Although I'm still in the early stages of treatment, which means I have large pimples that take forever to heal and flake considerably, this product has helped smooth over the areas and keep what skin has healed looking flawless! I highly recommend this product to anyone with dry skin. I will definitely repurchase!

Moisture Boost One Step Face Cleanser:

Do I still need to use an eye or face makeup remover?

It depends on how much eye or face makeup you are using or if you are wearing waterproof mascara, waterproof makeup, or other hard-to-remove makeup. If that's the case, we recommend using Paula's Choice Gentle Touch Makeup Remover before or after this cleanser. Otherwise, this cleanser effectively removes most types of makeup.

I have normal to oily skin that gets drier in the winter - would Moisture Boost One Step Face Cleanser be a good seasonal choice?

Yes! It has a lotion-like texture but still rinses and cleans beautifully.

Moisture Boost Hydrating Toner:

What do toners "tone"? I thought Paula didn't recommend toners!

Paula has always recommended toners that are well-formulated. Toners can be a great after-cleansing step to be sure you've removed all your makeup. When properly formulated, they soothe skin and provide an extra dose of antioxidants and repairing ingredients.

What are the main differences between Paula's Choice toners?

Every Paula's Choice toner repairs skin, provides antioxidants, delivers anti-aging ingredients, and helps remove last traces of makeup. They do not contain alcohol, fragrance, or unnecessary irritants such as menthol, peppermint, and citrus oils. Below you'll find a brief description for each distinct toner.

Resist Advanced Replenishing Toner is a specialized formula designed to supply aging skin with a broad range of ingredients it needs to produce healthy collagen while reducing wrinkles. It is a super-charged version of our popular Skin Recovery Enriched Calming Toner, with a specific emphasis on improving the signs of aging skin.

Hydralight Healthy Skin Refreshing Toner is an excellent choice for normal to oily/combination skin. It provides a weightless finish, and although it feels very light, it supplies skin with potent antioxidants and anti-irritants.

Moisture Boost Essential Hydrating Toner contains a broad range of ingredients that aid skin's barrier repair process so those with normal to dry skin will receive even more benefit from their Paula's Choice moisturizer and/or treatment product. Skin Perfecting 1% BHA Lotion Exfoliant:

What's the difference between AHA and BHA exfoliants? Do I need both?

When properly formulated, both AHAs and BHA are brilliant options for exfoliating the surface of skin. Both AHA and BHA work to reduce wrinkles, stimulate collagen, and firm skin but each has its special qualities you'll want to consider when deciding which one to use:

  • AHAs are preferred for sun-damaged and dry skin because they exfoliate on the surface of skin and have the added benefit of also improving moisture content.
  •  BHA is preferred for oily, acne-prone skin and for treating blackheads and white bumps because BHA can get through the oil that's clogging your pores, normalizing the lining of the misshapen pore that contributes to acne.
  • BHA has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial action. Those are two more reasons to use a BHA exfoliant if you have acne or sensitive, reddened skin.
  • BHA is preferred for those struggling with rosacea. Not everyone with rosacea can tolerate an exfoliant, but it is wise to experiment with a BHA product to see how your rosacea responds.

If your skin is sun-damaged and you're also struggling with acne or clogged pores, add a BHA product to your routine.

If you'd like to use an AHA and BHA at the same time, that is an option, though not really necessary. Some people find they work well when they're applied at the same time, but if you want to give this a try it is best to apply them separately, one during the day and one in the evening.

How do I use an AHA or BHA exfoliant?

  • You can apply an AHA or BHA product once or twice a day.
  • You can also apply either of these around the eye area but not on the eyelid or directly under the eye.
  • Apply the AHA or BHA product after your face is cleansed and after your toner has dried.
  • Once the AHA or BHA has been absorbed, you can apply any other product in your routine, such as moisturizer, serum, eye cream, sunscreen, and/or foundation.
  • If you're using a topical prescription product such as Renova, other retinoids, or any of the topical prescription products for rosacea, apply the BHA or AHA first.

Your AHA (glycolic acid) products have a higher percentage than your BHA (salicylic acid) products. Does this mean AHA is a stronger exfoliant?

AHA products are most effective at a 5% to 10% concentration and BHA at 1% to 2% concentration. Think about it like making bread, the amount of yeast you need is tiny in comparison to the amount of flour you use but equally important to get the results you want. The percentage of effectiveness varies depending on the ingredient. Rest assured that the BHA products are not any less effective due to lower concentrations of the exfoliant.

What strength of BHA should I use? Will a higher concentration provide better and faster results?

Which BHA strength you opt to use should be based on your skin type and the stubbornness (or severity) of your acne, white bumps, or blackheads. The 1% BHA strength is a great starting point to see how using a pH-correct BHA can improve the skin's condition. The 2% concentrations can be something you step up to if and when the need arises or if your skin isn't responding well enough to the 1% concentration.

At what point after my laser and/or peel procedure can I begin using my BHA exfoliant again?

First, we urge you to follow the post-procedure instructions your doctor or nurse provided. If nothing was mentioned about when to resume use of a BHA exfoliant, please contact the doctor's office where you had the procedure done. Otherwise, our general advice is to begin using your BHA again as soon as possible. Or, if your skin seems extra-sensitive, you may want to wait and apply the BHA exfoliant a few days post-procedure. Salicylic acid is an excellent anti-inflammatory ingredient that can enhance skin's natural healing process as it works to reduce post-procedure redness.

Moisture Boost Daily Restoring Complex SPF 30:

Should I reapply Moisture Boost Daily Restoring Complex SPF 30 during the day?

For casual wear, meaning less than four hours total time out in the sun, it is not necessary to reapply sunscreen as you will be protected all day. If you are perspiring or just spending a longer period of time outdoors, it should be reapplied.

How is Moisture Boost Daily Restoring Complex SPF 30 different from Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30?

Although both products provide reliable broad-spectrum sun protection, they do so using completely different active ingredients. Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 contains mineral actives (titanium dioxide and zinc oxide) while Moisture Boost Daily Restoring Complex SPF 30 contains synthetic active ingredients such as avobenzone. Because of this, Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 is preferred for sensitive or rosacea-affected skin.

The other notable difference is that Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 30 is designed to be used as part of the comprehensive Skin Recovery routine. Moisture Boost Daily Restoring Complex SPF 30 is designed to be used with our Moisture Boost Kit for those seeking a less complicated skin-care routine.

Moisture Boost Hydrating Treatment Cream:

I have dry skin. Which Paula's Choice moisturizer should I use?

All our moisturizers address the needs of dry skin and make it feel soft and smooth. Resist Barrier Repair Moisturizer is our lightest cream, while Moisture Boost Hydrating Treatment Cream is richer because it contains more oil. Skin Recovery Moisturizer is our most "protective" moisturizer. The best way to determine which one to use is to sample them and see which texture you prefer.
