Please redesign the bottle!
from Lawrence, KS
About Me Beauty Conscious
Comments about Hair & Body Shampoo - 14.5 oz:
I've used this for many years. I hated the package redesign of several years ago--the old bottle with added pump worked fine--as did many others, judging from reviews. I was told that the bottle was meant to be stood upside down for easy dispensing. But the cap is convex meaning it CANNOT be used that way. And the cap is a poor design, too flimsy and not sealing well enough to stand upside down even if you wanted to awkwardly prop it in a corner. The opening is too large, meaning product is frequently wasted. A few years back, a PC staff member responded to some of the complaints in reviews and said our complaints had been heard "loud and clear" and the issue would be addressed. A few years on, it's still just a dumb, awkward bottle design. Paula's Choice has many great products, but I'm frustrated by the lack of response to this issue for a mainstay product. Now, for the good. As stated, I've used this for years as shampoo and body wash. I love that it's fragrance-free and doesn't irritate my sensitive, dermatitis-prone skin. I like the clean natural smell that doesn't leave any fragrance behind and that doesn't interfere with any perfume I may choose to wear. I would like to keep using it, but until there is a new bottle or a pump offered, I'll be researching other body washes and shampoos.

Not for long, coarse hair
About Me Product Junkie
I love all my PC products, but the shampoo and conditioner are not for me. I have very long, thick, coarse Asian hair. The shampoo and conditioner, after two uses, have made my hair dull and made the ends of my hair crispy. The second use, I even used the conditioner as a leave in treatment and I still had dry, dull hair. I do not heat style my hair, the only change was this shampoo and conditioner combo. I do like the shampoo as a body wash and the conditioner for shaving, so I'll keep my products. Is there a way to ask Paula to make a much more moisturizing and nourishing shampoo and conditioner? There are currently no shampoos and conditioners that fit that description and are free from irritants and fragrance. I would buy these products for life if they existed.

Amazing Hair too bad my skin didn't like it
By Nicole M
from Palm Harbor, FL
My hair has been dull and lifeless lately so I decided to try the Paula's Choice shampoo sample I had received. OMG did my hair look shiny and amazing after one shampoo. The only problem was that my skin did not look amazing after use. My scalp broke out, as did my face in areas where the lather had touched. I've had this issue before and I always attributed it to heavily perfumed shampoos, but this product had zero scent. I think my reaction is probably a one off kind of deal though. My hair honestly it looked it was almost worth the skin issues...almost. :-)

My favorite unscented shampoo!

Godsend for people with perfume sensitivity! The only shampoo I know of that does not impart an unwanted scent to my clean hair. I like the ease of washing my hair in the shower with one gentle, non-irritating product. It leaves my fine, wavy hair looking healthy and shiny, which I love. I have used Paula's Hair and Body Shampoo for years and don't know what I would do if it were ever discontinued!!
Love the no fragrance
from Madison WI
I love this product. I use it as shampoo, body wash, and for shaving my legs. It is great for travel since it contains no irritating fragrance (like you find in hotel products). It doesn't strip my skin and leaves it feeling clean.

I have been using this shampoo for many years now.....I love it and wont use anything else. I like to mix some sugar into it to use as a facial scrub since I cant use chemical excoliants.

Not for dry hair
By Skin care obsessed
from Livingston, NJ
I am 44yo and I have long, very thick wavy/curly dry hair. I have heard that my non-sulfate cleansing conditioner (WEN) may not be enough to cleanse the scalp well, so I was looking for a shampoo with sodium laureth sulfate to use every other time I wash my hair. Of course I turned to Paula's Choice since I trust PC and use it exclusively for skin care. Sadly my hair wound up in tangled knots as soon as I gently massaged this shampoo into my scalp. Seriously, washing my hair normally does not lead to knots. Yes, I do have long, thick, dry hair which is color treated (single process) once every 8 weeks, but why does this shampoo cause knots in my hair?? When I use wide tooth comb and or brush to smooth out the awful nest of knots, I wind up loosing to much hair!! I assume this product is not meant for dry hair. This product is okay to use as a body wash, however! The only reason I am giving this 2 stars versus one is because it's nice as a body wash, and the conditioner works well to shave my legs.

5 Star Product, 1 Star Packaging
from Boston, MA
I have very fine, thin hair and (I thought) an oily scalp. I have used salon shampoos for years, but was frustrated with both the cost and that my hair never felt fully clean. It would often be so oily within 24 hours that I would have to lather up twice to feel like the shampoo had done it's job adequately. I decided to give this a shot and am so glad that I did. My hair feels clean and soft, and my scalp no longer feels as oily. Honestly, I think I could even skip a day - something that was never previously possible. BUT the packaging is awful! The cap is flimsy, ready to break off with one false move. And the opening is huge, making it almost impossible to not dispense too much and waste product, especially when the bottle is new/full. I understand I could (and likely will) use my own workarounds, but for the price point, improvements are in order.

Not suited for senstive scalps.
By Amy G.
I'm a big fan of Paula's Choice products, but the hair-care line isn't my favorite: despite being described as 'gentle enough for sensitive scalp', I noticed the opposite effect. My scalp is very reactive/sensitive, therefore I find it strange that this product is recommended as such. After using it a couple of weeks I now suffer from an unusual itchy scalp and neck. Also it seems very drying for my hair. I have long hair, and this shampoo unfortunately isn't doing much for it. The conditioner isn't conditioning enough either, makes my hair feel dryer too than any other conditioner.

Didn't know how much I needed this shampoo
from Bay Area, CA
About Me Beauty Expert
I'd battled for years trying to get rid of mysterious dandruff that didn't respond to dandruff shampoo. I had oily hair, I told myself, it can't be that I'm dry! And I used conditioner and it didn't fix the itchiness.I tried this stuff mostly for the body care part of it. I'd been having issues with dry spots/acne and keeping everything in balance, and I'd had such great luck with PC's other products that I thought I'd give it a shot. And then the itchiness stopped. I didn't notice it at first, but when I briefly used a different shampoo and it came back full-force, I realized that what I'd been battling for years was just plain old scalp sensitivity. And this product is so good and keeps me so clean that not only is it great for my sensitive scalp, it's the reason I know I *have* a sensitive scalp. Also great for my body, though the results weren't as striking to me there because I hadn't been having as big of issues. Like a lot of PC's products, I wish it came in a different type of container-- it's easy to spill too much of this into your hand. But that isn't a big enough deterrent for me to even knock it down a star.
