Not a fan

Comments about SMOOTH FINISH Conditioner - 14.5 oz:
Meh. Didn't do more than any drugstore brand. To be honest I've tried better. Left my hair flat and lifeless. Will not buy again!

Depends on your hair type
About Me Minimalist
I have coarse but straight hair that is generally resistant to getting oily for at least 5 days (PSA: daily shampooing is not necessarily for healthy hair!!). I have to agree with previous reviewers that this conditioner feels heavy on the hair after use. Also as previously mentioned (but now the review has been deleted?), it goes a little too overboard with the silicone. Of course when you initially wash and condition your hair, it feels super smooth and flowy, but I find the conditioner effects start to weigh my hair done and makes it much more prone to greasiness than other conditioners I use. I've tested this back and forth with other conditioners and I prefer the less-silicone heavy ones, but I can see how this PC conditioner would benefit someone with very fizzy or unruly hair, and are daily shampooers. Also, please fix the packaging! The cap is very flimsy. Given the thick consistency of the product, PC should really design a bottle that sits upside down on its *stable* lid.

really really good conditioner...better than high end lines
from Santa Fe, NM
I live in the high desert and this product I use (small amount) as a leave in conditioner for my thick, curly hair. This is the best product I have used and I have used several high end - kerastase, purology and other samples. None work as good as this product and it really does only take a small amount. Always have this product Paula!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is such a good product for my hair type. It made my hair really shiny and gave my curls beautiful shape. I only wish my hair wasn't so long so it would have lasted longer. Towards the end of the bottle, I was just using it as a leave-in conditioner to make it last longer.

First conditioner I've actually wanted to use regularly
By Michael S.
from Boston, MA
This conditioner makes a very noticeable difference for my fine, straight, now-partially-gray hair. It's an easy 5 stars for being an effective, straightforward kind of product without any downsides, at least for my hair and skin type.At 34 I have natural Mr. Fantastic white sideburns and a lot of the same coarser, graying hair mixed in with and hiding under the dark blond, and I've been trying to be good about using a conditioner to help the gray hair blend better with the rest, but I tend to skip the step because A) almost every drugstore conditioner is heavily fragranced and B) I honestly couldn't tell the difference 5 minutes after showering. This product somehow makes my hair much softer and fluffier. I actually look forward to this step and my nose and scalp are grateful for the lack of fragrance.

I was skeptical to try it but I love this conditioner!
from Austin, TX
About Me Beauty Conscious
I'm always skeptical about any conditioner, because I've tried so many over the course of my life that are marketed for fine/thin/limp hair and yet fail miserably. They made my hair feel greasy/slimy, coarse/waxy, or did nothing to detangle. (If you have fine/thin hair, you know the tangles....) This conditioner is better than any I've ever tried from a drugstore or salon, and I'm so relieved to have found it! It detangles but doesn't weigh my hair down. A little goes a long way, too: I dispense maybe a nickel-sized amount and that's all I need!

The only one I want.
By Paula is my guru
from Saskatoon, SK
I appreciate this conditioner is unscented and I have been using it for 15-ish years. It does what it is supposed to do: detangles my hair, leaves my wavy frizzy hair soft and shiny with no build up. If my hair feels extra dry, I just use more than usual. I try different products from time to time. Never stick with them. Don't want to be without this conditioner.

This is really good conditioner. It's a little pricey, but it makes my hair really shiny and soft. I have acne-prone skin and the conditioner doesn't irritate or clog my pores. I also use it as a shaving cream double, I prefer using a truly scent-free product for those sensitive areas. My only complaint is the bottle! I find myself banging and banging to get the conditioner left in the bottom. The problem is that the lid is slightly curved so you can't prop it upside down. With such an expensive conditioner, I would really like to get my money's worth and reach the bottom half of the product without spending valuable time banging it against my hand, especially since it's such a thick product. Please make the lid flat!! Other than that, this is an expensive but not overpriced conditioner that normal/fine/slightly dry hair, and sensitive/acne-prone skin will love!

I really wanted to like this
from New York, NY
I really, really wanted to like this. I have been reading Paula's books for years, and I greatly respect her knowledge and her opinions. However, this conditioner just has way to much silicone in it for my hair type. I know from reading Paula's books that silicones aren't "bad"; but they just don't work that well for some hair types. My hair may be curly, and I have a lot of it, but it's not coarse. I'm sure many others with this hair type kind of feel as left out as I do when it comes to hair products. It doesn't need to be lacquered with silicone. I really wish Paula's Choice would consider a silicone free version (or at least a version with water soluble silicones).

I will never let myself run out of this again. I did recently, and it shows ~ the nice, silky curls I'd gotten used to turned back into dry, frizzy, coarse straw! I don't know what the magic ingredient is, but this is the best conditioner I've ever used ~ salon brands included ~ and I'll never switch. My only wish is that it came in a larger economy-priced bottle.
