The perfect treatment after a rough day
from Costa Rica
Comments about SKIN RECOVERY Hydrating Mask - 4 oz:
I love reaching out to this mask after a day where I have been exposed to the sun for too long or had wear very heavy makeup. After cleansing and applying serum, I like to apply a good amount of this mask and keep it overnight. It does come out as a very thick formula, so for me it is more than enough for a great night treatment. It helps restoring and "cooling" off the skin after an strenuous day, and the next day the skin feels revitalized, supple and bright.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

A winter staple
from Denver, CO
This is a life saver in the dry and cold winters. I use this as a moisturizer at night on just my dry areas, and use something lighter on my oily areas. I'll use this all over as a mask while relaxing at night.
Great in combination with a moisturizing routine
I really enjoy this product. I have very dry, flaky skin and I use it about once a week to soften my skin and add a hydrated glow. I noticed that if I leave it on long enough it begins to dry down on my face, but when I wash it off with a damp cloth it becomes emollient again and slides off easily. For that reason I personally never use it overnight, only for about 30 minutes to an hour, after which I wipe it off and do the rest of my night routine. I would recommend it if you need to add a non-daily boost of moisture to your regimen, to soothe your skin after a strong treatment, or for special occasions when you want extra hydrated skin.
Not for me
Mask is a Very thick texture, Did not absorb into my skin, dried in a cakey-matte finish. Was hoping for great moisture post mask treatment but my skin was still flaky and dry. Bummer! Happy I can return it but bummed to have to pay for shipping.

I find this doesn't absorb well when I apply it and when it eventually sinks in it drys matte and doesn't feel moisturizing. The next morning I can't even tell I went to bed with a mask on. I find the radiance mask hydrates more and find myself reaching for that for hydration instead.
Great multipurpose product!
from Philadelphia, PA
I have combination skin - it is naturally quite oily, but sometimes becomes very dry and flaky from the prescription retinol cream I use for acne. My favorite uses for this hydrating mask have been as an eye cream at night, and in the morning I will actually mix a pea-sized amount of this mask with my facial cleanser and use the mixture to wash/exfoliate to create a smooth surface before putting on makeup. Works great! I have even used it on my lips at night in the winter months when really chapped.
Necessity for the winter!
from Buffalo, NY
I bought this in desperation when winter turned my normally dry skin into a flaky mess. After a few uses it completely saved my skin. Just remember this is NOT a daily moisturizer. I used it overnight with good results. I tried using again during the day after cleansing and by night my skin became very red and irritated. This product is great for a mask or to use a couple times a week as an overnight moisturizer. It caused a little bit of redness but that was a small price to pay to soothe my flaky skin. The tube is large and you get a lot for what you pay compared to other PC products. I have since bought the New* Moisture Boost Moisturizer and have been using it as my go to nightly moisturizer.

By Me, From Here
My skin was already dry and mildly flaking. I applied this mask after washing and exfoliating. It did not soothe my post-cleanse, post-exfoliant tightness at all upon application. Minutes later I was breaking out in small red bumps, and my skin began to flake in the extreme, as if I had applied an overly high-strength exfoliant. If I rubbed my skin with my finger, large amounts of skin flakes would come off. It was as if my entire face was being stripped of a layer of skin. After 15 minutes, I washed my face again and applied the Skin Recovery Moisturizer mixed with some diphenhydramine cream, and the irritation stopped. However, I began to feel nauseous, just as I have after using certain other PC products. PC's products are very hit-and-miss for me when it comes to allergic (or whatever) kinds of reactions. Of the products I've tried, I have been irritated and/or made ill-feeling by this, the Resist BHA Body Treatment, the Clear Body Spray, the Skin Perfecting BHA Gel, the Skin Recovery Serum, the Lipscreen, both Calm nighttime moisturizers, the Calm Normal to Dry SPF/Skin Recovery SPF, the Clinical face moisturizer, both Calm toners, the Skin Recovery toner, and possibly the Resist AHA Body Lotion. The Resist Eye Cream is also completely ineffective (compared to a drugstore urea lotion), leading me to believe that I could confirm an allergic reaction were I to apply it in a larger amount on a larger area of skin. The Calm BHA may or may not be irritating, as it definitely doesn't revitalize my skin the way AHA lotions can. On the other hand, my skin loves the Resist Retinol Body Treatment, the Skin Recovery nighttime moisturizer, and the Skin Balancing serum. I know now that I react badly to jojoba and castor, but there have to be other ingredients that bother me, since those two are not in all of the irritating products. If you could assist me in determining what common ingredients might be the allergens in my case, I would be very grateful.

Causes my sensitive skin to sting
By Cosmetics Realist
from Huber Heights, Ohio
I normally rave about my Paula's Choice products, but I cannot do the same for this product. Thankfully, I was able to request samples of this mask because I experienced a stinging sensation the first time I used it. I tried a couple more samples, but I had the same result. I don't know what ingredient is in this mask that irritates my skin, but I wish I knew so I could avoid it in future products. I use AHAs, BHAs, and retinal products from Paula and have no irritation.

Does Exactly What It's Meant to Do
By the end of the day during wintertime, my skin is very dry and starts to flake around my nose and cheeks. I have been using this, and my skin feels great all day. I don't use it as a mask though. I use it at night as a night cream, and then I use it in the morning before I put my makeup on. I do not rinse any off. I have sensitive skin, and this feels like a dream. It's very gentle.
