About Me Beauty Expert
Comments about SHINE STOPPER - 1 oz:
I am a licensed cosmetologist and makeup artist and I am thoroughly impressed by this product! I am a retin a user and use the Stila tinted moisturizer with spf for daily use on my skin because it is the only mineral sunscreen with a slight tint that does not irritate my skin and actually matches my porcelain complexion. That being said, everyone who has tried a mineral sunscreen knows that there is one con to using one... shine! I have combination skin that is sensitive but I tend to get shiny in the t zone area. I have found that the best way to use this is let my tinted moisturizer dry down a little bit, apply this with a dabbing motion over my shiny areas, and then top with a LIGHT layer of powder. I have tried applying it on top of powder and felt that the application was not as good, so I would recommend to a new user to apply it over your cream or emollient products before powder if you use one. I just got this in the mail this week and I am happy to say that I will be a customer for life! For once, I am not blotting my nose and forehead every three hours... I only used my blotting papers once yesterday and it was 9 hours after my makeup application. I'm sold! I cannot wait to use this on my bridal clients!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

About Me Beauty Conscious
I have really dry and sensitive skin except my forehead, which is really oily and shiny. I used it once and it works, my forehead has no shine and my skin is silky and dry. I will see how long it lasts....

Amazing Product with a Learning Curve
from Scottsdale, AZ
I've noticed that this product tends to inspire strong feelings: you either love it or hate it. After using this for two years, I think I understand both camps,, so hopefully this review will help you decide whether Shine Stopper is right for you. The Good: when applied properly (more on that in a minute), this product controls shine, blurs pores and fine lines, leaves your skin silky soft and smooth, and gets rid of any sticky/tacky feeling your makeup might have (seriously: the primary I resisted wearing a daily sunscreen was because I hated that oil slick feeling I got, even from sunscreens with "matte" finishes. This gets rids of it). Expect to be pleasantly surprised when you look in the mirror and your makeup still looks smooth and fresh--no small feat for summer in Arizona! You might find yourself stroking your face and marveling at how smooth it feels. The Bad: application is anything but fool proof. Basically, this product tends to ball up or cause your makeup to smear if you rub it in too much, but here are a few mitigating tricks I've discovered along the way. First, make sure that your makeup is completely dry before you apply this. I put on tinted moisturizer, undereye concealer and try to wait five minutes before putting this on (I use the time to do eyeshadow or something). Make sure all your liquid products are really, really dry. Kind of a pain if you're trying to get out the door, but there you have it. Second, the more layers of liquid products you have (foundation, concealer, highlighter), the more likely you are to have things ball up. If I'm in a hurry and can't let things dry properly, I just do sunscreen and this, rather than risk balling up (yes, I think this is more important than concealer!). Third, while I have no problem layering powder blush/highlighter/bronzer over this, I have very mixed results with layering any cream/liquid products. I recommend doing anything remotely "wet" before putting this on. Fourth, less is more. Start with a tiny pea-sized amount, rub it between your fingers, and see how far that gets you. You can always add more, but if you start with too much you're more likely to (you guessed it) have things ball up. Finally, THOU SHALT NOT RUB. Really. Just pat it on, and try not to go over the same spot more than a few times. Overall: Yes, it's a finicky product with a bit of a learning curve, but as I said, I've been using it for two years. You'll love how it makes your pores and fine lines disappear, it gets rid of that dreaded oil slick feeling, and it lasts all day long (at least for someone with moderately oily skin). Despite its quirks, this is one of my can't-live-without-it products.

Works great with my oily skin!
About Me Minimalist
I apply this on my face after moisturizing and it does a fantastic job of keeping the oils away. I have oily skin and live in a humid environment so oil control is essential. I've tried other products with little to no success. I love, love, love this product!

no results on oily skin
I tried the samples of this one, for 3 days, really wanted to love it because of my oily skin. Used under and without makeup, my face would still produce oils and definitely shine all day, tried applying less and still the same.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

By Nurse Rebecca
from Toms River , NJ
As a nurse working long hours - I need something that works for extended periods of time - and I hardly have time to eat a meal during my shift, let alone fix my makeup ... After getting home 12 hours after applying my makeup I was pleasantly surprised to see I had no oil buildup on my face which is a miracle considering I'm usually horrified when I look at my makeup after working all day/night ... Paula did it again ! Another amazing product.

My Summer BFF
When used as directed (patting, no rubbing!) this is a miracle product for oily skin! Even with a matte primer I find my DW foundation wearing quicker along my t-zone especially during the summer months. My skin changes in the summer tending to be more just oily all over vs combo, so although my primer works well on other areas outside my t-zone, I need this to keep me matte longer in that zone - and it truly does work for hours! This is a must in my make-up collection!

I've only used this once, and was super impressed by it. Controlled my super oily t zone and made my large pores look smaller.
from San Francisco, CA
I use this daily before applying makeup foundation. It looks like lotion however, it goes on and absorbs quickly and feels like a primer of sorts. It's lightweight and there is zero shine on my combo skin. And in the summer, my skin turns to oily - this is helpful in that it calms the oily T-zone down and my foundation is extremely nice when I put it on after the shine stopper!
Holy Grail for Oily Skin
This has been a life-saver for me. In the warmer months, my T zone is like an oil slick. Usually within one hour of applying makeup, my skin is oily. What I love most about this product is that it does not cause my skin to break out with cystic acne. Some products have caused this even after 1 application, so I've avoided anti-shine products. Thank you so much Paula's Choice!
