Comments about SKIN BALANCING Antioxidant Serum with Retinol - 1 oz:
I tried this serum since I tried the pink one before and I was really impressed, but I am not sure if mine was damaged since when I try to squeez the product out I have clear water coming out and a ticker yellowish paste (whereas the other product I tried is similar to oil). I have to say I didn't use it very much, the consistency does not feel right.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Skin balancing serum
have oily acne prone skin. Got this with the advanced skin balancing line. I love this serum. I only use this in the am as I use a different serum at night. I agree with other posters that this feels similar to a dry oil. It feels weird at first on ur fingers but feels nice on my face. Vey light and absorbs fast into skin. Leaves your skin looking smooth. It works well under my makeup (powder foundation). Started out using this a few times a week (to make sure I wasn't sensitive to retinol) and now I use it every day. I have been using this for about 3 months now and my skin feels and looks so much smoother. Will repurchase!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Made me breakout!
from Chicago, IL
I have had sensitivity to retinols in the past, so originally I tried the antioxidant serum w/retinol for dry skin, but it caused me to break out. I have pretty normal skin that can get dryer in the winter and oilier in summer. I was told I broke out because I used the dry skin version, and I should use this skin balancing serum w/retinol instead. The good news is that the retinol didn't irritate my sensitive skin in either product. That's about where the good news ends. First, I didn't like the scent or texture at all. The scent is almost gasoline like, but thankfully it fades quickly. The texture is gel-like, but oddly slippery and doesn't absorb very quickly. However, it's not heavy or sticky or greasy. It just feels like it gets smeared around the face for a while before sinking in.I used this for about 2 weeks, and started noticing I was getting small pimples on my forehead. I rarely breakout on my forehead, so this was unusual. I didn't connect it to the serum at first. I kept getting more bumps, and eventually ended up with a red, painful zit on the end of my nose! I never break out on my nose. When I realized the timing wasn't right for my breakout to be hormonal, I suspected this serum. I stopped using it, and within a week my skin was clearing up. However, I still have a scar on the end of my nose from that pimple. The other night I decided to try the serum again just to see if my breakout was due to something else. The next night I noticed a new batch of pimples on my forehead, so I'm pretty certain it's due to this serum.I don't understand what's breaking me out, as retinol is supposed to help acne. But this product did not work for me. I love most of Paula's products, just not this one. It may work great for others. As for the anti-aging benefits, I didn't notice a particular difference but it may require longer use to see results.

This causes breakouts frequently for me. Wish I would have realized it prior to ordering a new tube. It hasn't been opened but I am way past the 60-day return. It's too bad, the skin that didn't break out did look good after using this. But I battle acne enough already without adding a product that exacerbates it.

I'm a 23 year old with sensitive combination skin, acne and a little sun damage from years of sports. Since it is never too early to begin an anti aging routine, I was looking for a serum with a gentle amount of retinol and this fit the bill perfectly!! I started using it at night and within a week it made a noticeable difference on my skin. My skin is SO smooth, glowing, even toned and I noticed it even helped reduce my acne a little! I travel a lot for work and cannot always bring my entire PC skincare with me but this is the one product I always bring. The texture might be a little unusual for some people but, like previous comments have said, you should give it a little shake before you apply! This has become my holy grail PC product and will always reorder.

Made My Skin Wrinkly
from Toronto ON
I didn't like this product. I wanted something with retinol for my under-eye area and it made my skin dry & wrinkly - old looking. i look younger and better without it. sticking with my regular Neutrogena face cream from the drug store.

I am now obsessed with this stuff! It is silky, absorbs quickly and makes my skin feel like a dream. Used in combination with the Resist Intensive Repair Cream, I wake up with baby soft, even skin every day. I cannot say enough about how much I love this serum.(NOTE: If you do not shake it up again, I can see what the earlier reviewer stating it is like dry oil means. However, if you shake it, that issue is resolved and the consistency is much easier to work with.)
Works very well and I love the gel fell. Goes on easily and dries quickly.

Antioxidants against Acne
from San Francisco, CA
The first time I used this I applied it at night, and woke up to see my acne marks (very dark on pale skin) fade a lot! It feels like it calms down the skin a little and definitely helps the skin heal MUCH faster and I continue to see those results after long term use, even though that initial incredible lightning "boost" effect wore off.I would appreciate if the same antioxidants with some added anti-irritants would be available in a more fluid texture, so that one could mix it with thicker cremes or other silicone as well. However, this serum is easy to spread when you make sure you shake it properly before applying a few drops to your fingertips, otherwise it stays separated; and it mixes best with liquids (such as a little of the Vitamin C Booster or Clinical Redness Relief). This is better suited for normal-oily skin, as it is not a hydrating serum (hence under Oily/Combination), but can easily be followed/layered/mixed with something more moisturizing. I recommend this for people who are looking for a way to speed up the healing of damage caused by acne, shorten the "lifespan" of a breakout, as well as prevent minor breakouts and greatly reduce major infections. My mother used this quite a few times as well, and she noticed that this serum minimized fine lines and greatly improved the texture of her skin.Definitely recommend this if you are looking to give your skin some goodies and help it do its thing.

Great for summer
I have aging, sun damaged, combination skin, prone to breakouts and redness. I also have melasma and wear quite a bit of foundation and concealer.I needed something to protect my skin against further damage, but would not make my skin greasy and make my makeup wear off sooner. This serum really works for me. It is matte and absorbs completely. My skin feels soft and soothed when I put it on and my makeup goes on smoothly and lasts, especially in summer and in combination with Paula's Antiaging Clear Skin Hydrator. Fortunately, my skin has not had any negative reaction and it's pretty sensitive. I love the gel-like consistency. My skin has really benefitted from this serum. Lines softer, brown areas a little lighter. Great product for me.
