Love - great for oily skin
from Los Angeles
About Me Budget Buyer
Comments about HYDRALIGHT Shine-Free SPF 30 - 2 oz:
I love this sunscreen and use it daily. It soaks in quickly, leaves no residue, and doesn't make me break out. I have oily/combo skin.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This moisturizer with SPF is only ok. It leaves a white cast on your face that you have to wait a few minutes for it to sink all the way into your face and you still look a little greasy/white. The SPF is good but I wouldn't get this again, I'll stick to my regular sunscreen moisturizer (Cetaphil).
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

About Me Brand Buyer
I have dry skin, so my initial foray into PC sun protection products was with the Skin Recovery line. For whatever reason, the Skin Recovery sunscreen did not have the same success for me that the Hydralight did. I do not use this alone - I use it over my CeraVe PM moisturizer, because I need some added moisture and the two work very well together. Even though my skin is dry, I find that super greasy sunscreens never soak in well, and result in bad makeup application and an oily t-zone. This sunscreen strikes a perfect balance between moisturizing and keeping a satin matte finish, which is a hard feat for any sunscreen. Honestly, I have yet to find a mineral sunscreen that absorbs and rubs in as well as this. I have sensitive skin, and this is gentle enough for everyday wear. I just ordered two more, I do not know if I could live without it! While it isn't convenient to use a light moisturizer underneath, I do not mind the extra step, since this sunscreen has a stellar finishing/primer effect. Looks great under powder and liquid foundation. PS: I'm a skincare junkie, so I've tried A LOT of sunscreens.

Great for Sensitive Skin
By Hello Katie
I have very very VERY sensitive skin. I tried SO MANY moisturizers with SPF (including high-end brands), and they ALL made me break out. Until I found THIS ONE, that is. Finally, my face is protected from the horrible sun and my skin isn't mad at me. I have combination skin, and this isn't moisturizing enough for the dry bits, so I use a heavier cream under it in certain areas. The smell is weird - it's a little like toothpaste. But it goes away quickly, as does the faint whitish cast. Two very small cons that I'm totally willing to deal with in exchange for SPF protection for my insanely sensitive skin.

Sample vs. Sample
from St. Louis, MO
I have the Resist Trial Kit for Wrinkles + Breakouts which had a moisturizer + SPF sample which I have used for the past couple of days, and compared to this moisturizer + SPF, this is better--for me at least. While it did leave a white cast, it's not as severe as past sunscreen with zinc in it. After it dried, my face felt very soft and powdery! I did not notice a smell. The white cast doesn't put me off as I've noticed it works better for me as I'm fair skinned--sunscreen without doesn't do as good of a job.
My favorite sunscreen!
By Gwen the Golfer
from Henderson, NV
I use this sunscreen every morning! It is light and non greasy.(I have oily skin) I also use it for evening as well, because it is a great primer for foundation. I golf a a lot and my face has never gotten a sunburn! I like the fact that it is also benefiting my skin other than sun protection with the anti-oxidants. The small container is great for traveling. I do see the white(zinc-oxide) when I apply it, but it quickly disappears.

Nice moisturizer but didn't sit well under makeup
I bought this to replace my EltaMD clear 46. I wanted a moisturizer that would be hydrating and sit better under make-up. I had high hopes for this one but it balled and pilled under my make up. Really disappointing.

Great daily sunscreen!
As with any sunscreen, you need to reapply in the sun, water, and sports. I love that this is a mineral block, and I think the product applies well, it does need to be blended more than a chemical sunscreen but it does easily. I have been using daily for about two years with no reactions. Great product, wish they had the exact formula in a bigger bottle for the body!
My fifth Purchase!! I "LOVE" this product
from Toronto, CA
I love this product so much!! I have been recommending to friends and family. I have a very very sensitive skin. I'm allergic to just about anything. This product works perfectly on my face. No grease. Works well under make up

Just a sunscreen
By Happy Little Vegemite
from Melbourne, Australia
I hate the feeling of sunscreen and I have never worn it on a daily basis. I apply it purely to prevent sunburn when expecting to be outdoors, in the high-risk hours of the Spring/Summer months, mainly when bathing, sunbathing or at some outdoor event. However, during this winter I had some moles removed and to protect my skin this Spring/Summer, I was looking for a product to use when going for a walk during the day. I have bought expensive products too but they often have irritating fragrances in them. I cannot use chemical sunscreens as they irritate and sting my eyes. The problem I have with mineral sunscreens is that they are generally very thick and leave a ghastly white cast. I am not keen on nanoparticles. Six weeks ago, I ordered both the Hydralight and the Skin Recovery sunscreens. While the Hydralight is a slightly thinner consistency than the Skin Recover and both are thinner than standard sunscreens, they are still a sunscreen texture, rather than a moisturiser or balm consistency. Both leave a ghastly white cast. Both have a smell. Both leave a milky beading when sweating but the Hydralight is somewhat mattifying. Both are moisturising compared to most standard sunscreens but they are sunscreens first and foremost, NOT moisturisers with sunscreen properties. Both sting my ultra sensitive and reactive skin and sting my eyes if it gets in them. Both leave a tackiness that powder makeup clings to. I have also noticed, that I come out in a slight rash from both. Just now, I have noticed that I have a bumpy texture on the back of my neck which prompted this review. I would recommend this for beach or sporting use, except that neither a waterproof. This would suit those who do not perspire much and those who are used to heavier makeup and liquid foundation.
