    Terrific product!
    • I have purchased this product twice now and I couldn't be happier with this product. My complexion is fair and I have sensitive skin and I have been wearing this product year round without any sensitivity issues. I spend a considerable amount of time outside so sun protection is a must for me, and this product works great- better than other products on the market! This moisturizer does hydrate my skin and I even think that it has improved my skin's appearance.

tried it for a long time
    • Okay, so it has been at least a year since I first started using this moisturizer. I only use it in the warmer weather, when I am going to be outside, and wear no makeup or Paula's Tinted Moisturizer but that does not alter my opinion. It is heavy and white and truly not that moisturizing. I just started my most recent tube and much to my disappointment, can not bring myself to continue using it. There are great products in Paula's line, this one just is not for me.

    Ugh! Dried out my skin
    • Although i have oily skin, after applying this product it felt like my face couldn't move it was so dry and tight. I guess it was too "mattifying" for my skin. I have rosacea and had high hopes for this product :-(

We're sorry this product didn't work for you. It is defnitely matte, but what you experienced isn't typical and may do the combinatin of this SPF product with other products in your routine, including topical prescriptions for rosacea.

    It's grown on me!
    • I've come around to titanium as a viable option. It brings the usual baggage with it: A WHITE CAST. Can't get rid of it, I'm afraid. You can, however, mix it with the lovely RESIST SPF 30, which is nicely tinted to get a sunscreen that utilizes both mineral actives and leaves no evidence of titanium. For my normal/dry skin, this works wonders, as the RESIST SPF 25 has lots of skin conditioning and emollient ingredients in it.

    VERY NICE
    • Gave this a 5 star becuase its all around a great moisturizer. I have extremely sensitive skin and also Rosacea. And have not found a Spf that I can use without breaking out, face getting blotchy and red or eyes tearing up. So far so good. No reaction at all! I like the finish and texture of this as well, No smells to this or fragrances like some of her other moisturizers have fruit extracts in them. This is very natural! It has a white cast that if you dont over apply it disapears. Luv it!

    Great for dry days
    • This sunblock is too moisturizing for my face on most days and can never be used on my nose but it is great for dry days (comforts skin) because of using PC AHAs or retinol. I apply it mid day after my PC moisturizer and other sunblock have set in and my face is feeling dry or just the eye area @ mid day. This is the only facial sunblock I can use from PC. The super light tinted version is too dark for me. It's nice to have while I work from home cause it does make my face whitish.

    Very heavy formula
    • I got this as part of the Resist starter pack. While it certainly works for sun protection, I found it to be a very heavy formula. This is not the product if you want something light that soaks into your skin easily, but if you need extra hydration and are in a dry climate, it might be a good pick for you.

    Greasy mess!
    • My skin is drier now that I'm using Differin, and while summer means It is only a bit dry, I don't think I'd like this cream even in the driest winter. It left my face super greasy and shiny, plus I sunburnt a bit the week using it, so it didn't protect that well. So glad I only bought a bunch of samples, and not the full size!

    Did not protect my skin!
    • I have been using Paula's Choice products for a while and overall I love them. However the Resist with SPF25 was very poor at protecting my skin from getting sun-burned. I used it an hour before attending an outdoor lunch and made sure it covered my neck, face, ears and chest as I have fair skin. After 3 hours in mild sun (I'm in the Pacific Northwest) my skin was burned from the sun and turned red. I am very disappointed. The texture of the moisturizer is also sticky and unpleasant.

    Customer Service Response
Replied on: Wednesday, June 18, 2014

Thanks for your review! All of our SPF products are tested and able to provide the stated level of sun protection, but fair skin spending three hours in direct sun would absolutely need to reapply at least once to maintain the level of protectoin or you can consider layering various SPF-rated products, such as this daytime moisturizer, then a foundation with sunscreen and finally a pressed powder with sunscreen. As with any sun protection product, when in direct skin we also advise the use of hats and protective clothing, as no sunscreen can provide complete, 100% protection (one reason the term "sunblock" is no longer permitted in the U.S.).

    No more leaky top, whoohoo!
    • Haven't ordered this in a way so I was thrilled to see the old cap has been replaced. I have dry skin that is also acne prone and this product doesn't break me out or leave my skin feeling tight. The key to it not being greasy is to apply just enough to cover my skin and to use a setting powder over my foundation. In fact, I wish there was a version of this product w/o sunscreen suitable for nighttime use. I do switch to a lighter moisturizer in July and August.

    No sunscreen smell.
    • This is by far my favorite daytime moisturizer. Not only does it work well, but there isn't that sunscreen smell that is typical of spf moisturizers. I am sensitive to smells, so no matter how well other spf moisturizers have worked in the past, I have stopped using them due to the lingering sunscreen odor.

    Pretty Darn Good
    • My thirsty skin drank this up - if only it were ever so slightly tinted! Right now, my acne spots are healing and my other tinted sunscreen camouflages the white-dry-skin healing spots better. Once my skin clears completely, I'll use this.

    bothers my eyes
    • I have alot of trouble with moisturizers, although I don't have sensitive skin, since I had laser eye therapy alot of cream products that I use for the face tend to bother my eyes. It is usually products that are very thick. I can not really most sunscreens because of this. There are a couple of mousurizers that I can use and I am ok with tinted moisurizers. This unfortunatlely was one of the worst. It is very thick and the product bothers my eyes so much that I really can't use it at all.

    Caused acne. Bummer.
    • I bought this along with Resist anti-aging clear skin hydrator, intending to use the hydrator at night and the cellular defense during the day (for its SPF 25). I got acne galore until I switched to the hydrator only. When the hydrator ran out last Sunday I started using the moisturizer again, but now I've got a red bump forming (after having clear skin for 2 months). So yep, it's really this stuff causing it. Bummer. I'm going to go order more of the hydrator.

Hi there! Thank you for sharing your experience, and we're sorry the RESIST SPF 25 wasn't a fit for you. We should note that the RESIST Cellular Defense SPF 25 is a dry/very dry skin formula, which it sounds as if you have more a oily/combination skin type?  We would encourage you to try our RESIST Super-Light Wrinkle Defense SPF 30, which was designed to be the AM counterpart to the RESIST Anti-Aging Clear Skin Hydrator. Please contact our Customer Care team, as they would love to help with an exchange, refund as well as samples to try.

    GIves a smooth even skintone
    • I dont think of my skin as "very dry", I'm usually oily on my nose and forehead by the afternoon and in need of a blotting. However, this moisturizer really agrees with my skin, and gives me a very even, healthy looking glow, and soaks into my skin really well too. I find that it works for me both in the hot weather and in the winter. I'm on my 4th tube of this stuff, so it definitely has become a favorite, since I used to just change moisturizers every time I need a new one!

    Excellent for dry skin
    • This is an excellent moisturizer for dry skin. I'm allergic to synthetic sunscreens and this was such a great find. Also, it doesn't have parabens, which matters a lot to me. I couldn't be happier with this product.

    Customer for life!
    • I've tried every SPF formula from drugstore to expensive luxe brands, and I have never loved a sunscreen until this one! Usually, they are too tacky or thick and don't really soak into my skin. Not only does this soak in, but it's really all the coverage I need unless I am going somewhere where I need a more "made up" look. I see that it's too white for some people, but I am fair-skinned and it works just great for me. Doesn't even rub off onto my clothes when I use it on my neck. Perfection!

    A new favorite
    • I have naturally very dry skin so moisture is key. This product is very moisturizing (as some sunscreens are not). It has antioxidants so it has the added value/benefit of doing more than one thing while boosting the efficacy of the sunscreen too! I find that it really does what it says it will. Not many manufacturers can get the right balance of moisture with titanium dioxide to work, but this product gets the mix right.

    Love this lotion and PB!
    • I have never written an online review but compelled to do it for PB. Never been happier. I haven't had huge problems with my skin but at 44 have been working on lines and elasticity. This is the first product that made me feel like my face looks younger. The very first morning after using it when I woke up my husband said "you look pretty." :) I used to use darphin which is so much more expensive and now with PB I can use the product more liberally on my neck décolletage etc which is nice.

    Great for winter
    • I initially bought this product and tried it during warm/humid weather. It was heavy, made my face look shiny/greasy, and I didn't like the white cast that never fully went away, so I tossed it in a drawer and forgot about it. When the cold dry weather hit I decided to give it another try. I've been using it for about a month and it's awesome for winter weather! 4 stars because, like others, I really dislike how it dispenses. Would MUCH prefer a flip-top cap.

DIRECTIONS: Apply liberally every day before sun exposure as the last step of your morning Resist skincare routine. Do not apply any other skincare product over this sunscreen. Once absorbed, proceed with your normal makeup application.

More detailed instructions on how/when to apply your Paula's Choice products can be found in our How to Put Together Your Own Skincare Routine article.

Should I reapply Resist Cellular Defense Daily Moisturizer during the day?

For casual wear, meaning less than four hours total time out in the sun, it is not necessary to reapply this moisturizer with sunscreen as you will be protected all day. If you are perspiring or just spending a longer period of time outdoors, it should be reapplied every few hours to maintain the stated level of protection.

How is Resist Cellular Defense Daily Moisturizer SPF 25 different from Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion SPF 15?

Although both products provide reliable broad-spectrum sun protection, Resist Cellular Defense SPF 25 offers a greater amount of sun protection. The Resist formula contains titanium dioxide as its active ingredient while Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion SPF 15 contains a blend of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. Both formulas contain antioxidants to help defend skin against signs of aging, but each has its own blend.

Texture-wise, these two daytime moisturizers with sunscreen are quite similar. Both provide hydration and a silky, radiant finish those with normal to dry skin will appreciate best. Resist Cellular Defense SPF 25 leaves less sheen on skin when compared to Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion SPF 15.

Is Resist Cellular Defense Daily Moisturizer SPF 25 the only Paula's Choice moisturizer with sunscreen that provides antiaging benefits?

Definitely not! Every Paula's Choice daytime moisturizer with sunscreens as well as our "body" sunscreens (which can also be applied to the face) provide broad-spectrum sun protection and contain antioxidants for enhanced defense and antiaging benefits. Resist Cellular Defense SPF 25 contains an antioxidant blend that complements the other Resist products from Paula's Choice, including the Daily Smoothing Treatment and Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum.

I notice I get a white cast after applying Resist Cellular Defense Daily Moisturizer. Anything I can do to minimize this?

Some people, typically those with medium to tan or olive skin tones, will notice a bit of a white to pale violet cast after applying Resist Cellular Defense Daily Moisturizer SPF 25. This is due to the amount of mineral active (titanium dioxide) this moisturizer with sunscreen contains. If this happens to you, here's what you can do to eliminate the white cast:

Experiment by applying a drop or two of a sheer bronzing gel (Clinique makes a good one) over Resist Cellular Defense Daily Moisturizer. You can also mix a drop or two of the bronzing gel with this daytime moisturizer before applying. The bronze will offset the white cast and should make your skin tone look more natural without losing the anti-aging sun protection this provides. Of course you can also apply a Paula's Choice foundation with sunscreen over Resist Cellular Defense Daily Moisturizer, too.
