    stings!
    • It smells very nice, but this lotion stings and burns when I apply it. My skin becomes red and super blotchy! I had such high hopes for this product being something that would soothe my skin, and be an spf I could tolerate. Not a good choice for me:(

    Good but...
    • I actually love the texture of this and I feel like it leaves my face in good condition. The white cast quickly goes away after the product is rubbed in. But...once the cream sets, it feels almost hard and cakey on my face; I can see that my skin looks moisturized, but it feels super dry. Fortunately, PC's customer service team is sending me some other samples to try, so major points to them.

    Love
    • The texture is fantastic, and I think you should disregard reviews that describe it as a very thick cream. When you first put it on, it looks white, but it gets soaked in. Sadly, not super moisturizing by itself a few hours into the day (I have dry skin, oily t-zone). However, when worn over my CeraVe PM facial moisturizer, it's perfect! It's hard to find facial sunscreen options that are mineral AND include antioxidants. Also, this is a great base for makeup, I find I don't need a primer.

At Last, A Suncreen I can use.
    • I have been looking for months for a sunscreen I could use after I suddenly developed an allergy to chemical sunscreens. This one works great. I like that it disappears into my skin after a few minutes without leaving a white film. I have had compliments on my skin, even on those days I don't wear foundation.

    Good
    • My two biggest worries about a daytime moisturizer are: that it could make my face look shiny(even through my makeup) and that it will make my mascara run. This moisturizer does not cause either of those to happen:). I like that this product has a fairly high SPF rating. My only complaint would be that a little bit does not go a long way....so I'm afraid I will use up the tube quite quickly. Overall though, I'm loving this product.

    My perfect daily sunscreen!
    • I have sensitive skin and can only use the mineral sunscreens on my face, neck & chest area. Most others I have tried have either been too dry, too thick or horrible smelling. Paula's Skin Recovery Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 is the perfect formula! It has the perfect texture, the right amount of moisture with the added benefit of antioxidants. (No separate lotion to apply!) It does have a bit of a sheer white tint with a slight smell, however, both disappear within a few minutes.

    Wonderful moisturizer
    • Love this! I use this in conjunction with RESIST SUPER-LIGHT WRINKLE DEFENSE SPF 30. These are the only two SPF moisturizers that don't sting my eyes. And they're amazing to boot! This gives me the extra moisture boost that I need. It also blends so well with the Resist SPF 30. Great stuff for my combo skin!

    Great SPF!
    • This moisturizer is lightweight, silky, and has a pleasant smell. It does indeed soothe redness and irritation. I think for dry skin this works better with no exfoliant or wash cloth beforehand; only cleanser and toner/serum. Otherwise skin can feel a bit tight. However, the satin-matte finish works well for daytime (no makeup smudges). For me this is a great skincare staple!

    Love
    • This is more cream than lotion, consistency-wise. Although this is marketed for dry or very dry skin, it's absolutely suitable for combination skin. It's not too heavy or greasy, but still very moisturizing, perfect for the dry winter. It leaves a white cast at first. It needs to be rubbed well into skin, so the white cast is even. In a couple minutes, it will disappear. It smells quite pleasant, but lacks fragrance. It feels very smooth going on, takes a while to sink in.

    Awesome!
    • I'm so glad I went with this one! I bought a sample of the Moisture Boost sunscreen and it stung and made my skin irritated (I think my skin didn't like that it is a chemical sunscreen). This one is very gentle, yet powerful. No stinging or redness and the perfect amount of moisture. It takes a little for it to sink in and there is a bit of a white cast when first applied but it goes away. Definitely reordering!

SPF that never burns. No allergy inducing odor!
    • Even when my painful environmental and chemical allergies have never been triggered, this moisturizer has soothed, protected, and relieved my skin. This is the first SPF product that has NEVER burned my face in times of heightened sensitivity, nor has the smell set off nasal rhinitis. This product is perfect for everyday use has made me a believer in PC products!

    Best Sunscreen For Dry Skin
    • I am absolutely smitten with this stuff. It takes little effort to blend well into the skin, and once it settles, it doesn't give you that tight, bone-dry feeling that a lot of sunscreens have (which is problematic for dry and sensitive skins). Unintentional tautness is just a step away from itching and redness. My one tip that I'd like to offer is this: after applying, take a cotton swab dipped in micellar water cleanser or toner and swipe gently over your eyebrows. It makes 'em look pristine!

    Another home run
    • Ugh, yet another PC product that I love. How many different moisturizers can one person use? I don't particularly have dry skin so I never thought to use this product. Some of the SPF lotions of hers weren't moisturizing enough or were so matte and quick drying that they weren't ideal as a base layer for my foundation. I got a sample of this and I LOVE IT. It's a bit heavier than what I usually use but it makes my skin so soft and absorbs really quickly. It's especially great for winter.

    Nice but a little drying
    • I'm in my early 50s and have dry, fair skin w/yellow undertone. I've been looking for a mineral sunscreen b/c of concerns about the long-term safety of using chemical sunscreens. Of the 3 PC mineral sunscreens, I liked this 2nd best (my fave turned out to be Resist Super Light, even tho it's not meant for dry skin). The white cast this Skin Recovery Lotion leaves fades when dried, & it leaves a nice glow to my face. But it leaves my skin feeling dry, even when I put on serum underneath.

    • Very silky and smooth. There is a bit of a white cast when applied, but keep working it in and it will go away. Also, if you're going to apply makeup on top, the white cast won't matter much anyway. Very moisturizing.

    Finally found it!
    • I had tried EVERYTHING. No matter what sunscreen, what price, what ingredients. It always made me break out in little white bumps on my forehead, or was brutally sticky with a bad white cast. When I found Paula's choice, I ordered a ton of samples, and this beaut has been perfection for the past 6 months that I've been using it. My dry acne prone skin is finally happy and I am too!

    Effective,gentle cream
    • This is a lovely gentle moisturizer. Glides on smoothly, and absorbs quickly. I have normal to dry sensitive skin but is prone to breakouts. Many products I have tried such as Clinique, have made my forehead breakout in tiny red dots, yuck. This product seems to calm yucky red dots. I love that it's fragrance free and has such a high SPF. I am not convinced however that this product will be moisturizing enough for very dry skin.

    Sunscreen without Benzones
    • I haven't bought the sunscreen yet, but it took a LOT of reading for me to figure out that the ingredients that were causing rashes were oxy & avobenzone. With rosacea, you can't use these if you'll actually be in the sun. Paula's rosacea formula doesn't contain these. I will order this when I run out of my current formula, and to the previous reviewer - it's titanium dioxide that leaves a whitish cast, but that's the sunscreen that's safe for rosacea.

    It's okay
    • I think it's a good moisturizer, it didn't irritate my face or cause break outs. But it did leave a white cast, I'm wondering if Paula has any moisturizers for dry skin that doesn't leave a white cast.

    Shiny finish and break outs
    • This sunscreen does not irritate at all, which is one thing I really like about it. There is also no white-cast, as others have mentioned. Unfortunately I won't be purchasing again. It definitely leaves an oily sheen on my face, despite applying powder after. I also started to get pimples after about a weeks use. I will test it out again in the winter to see if my skin handles it a bit better then.

A must buy for dry skin!
    • Wow, wow, WOW! I'm so impressed with the skin recovery line. This sunscreen is especially amazing for problem dry skin. It feels so buttery, it almost has a whipped texture. It's very soothing and comforting on my skin. It's hard to describe how amazing the texture is but I actually look forward to putting my sunscreen on in the morning because this feels so good!

    Love it so far!
    • Only had this for a week but love it so far. I'm 29 and looking to prevent wrinkles esp crows feet an was looking for a spf I could use not only on my face but around my eye area. As long as I dont get it in my eye its amazing. Not only do you get benifits of 30 spf but its also a great everyday moisturizer. I thought it would be a think cream but its not an I dont get any white cast it blends an sinks into the skin right away.

Slightly less shiny than the Resist SPF 25
    • I've been using the Resist Cellular Repair SPF 25 for the past couple of years, but my big complaint was always that it left my skin a bit shiny. I figured I would try a different one, and I'm glad I did - this is great. Still a shine, but more "glow-y" and less greasy than the Resist . My skin sits right at "normal", but can get dry with harsh products or in the winter. This is my new every day moisturizer. Works well under makeup or on its own.

    SPF 30 for Australia please
    • This product has a great feel and consistency but again it seems that only SPF 15 is available to Australians (at www.paulaschoice.com.au) whereas it's SPF 30 internationally (on www.paulaschoice.com). I can't see any logical reason for this - unless you're flogging your old stock to Australians, which is not acceptable either. Australia has some of the world's highest levels of solar radiation, melanomas and skin cancers - we need the higher SPF products, not the lower ones.

    Customer Service Response
Replied on: Friday, September 05, 2014

Hi there! Rest assured, there's been no flogging of old stock to Australia. We love our Australian customers! Here's the deal: Due to Australia's testing regulations on sunscreens, at this time, we are unable to claim higher than an SPF 15 on our packaging.  Each of our SPF-rated products is currently going through Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration’s extra testing to verify that these sun protection products can indeed sport the higher SPF ratings we know that they offer based on results from U.S. regulations. All SPF-rated products purchased from Paula’s Choice Australia website are the exact same formulation as if you purchased through the Paula’s Choice U.S website, just with the specific labeling currently necessary for us to be allowed to sell them in Australia.  Once these sunscreens have passed the TGA’s regulatory processing, we will be cleared to show the actual SPF ratings on each sun protection product.

Sun Protection Measures: Spending time in the sun increases your risk of skin cancer and early signs of skin aging. To decrease this risk, regularly use a sunscreen with broad spectrum SPF 15 or higher and other sun protection measures including: limit time in the sun, especially from 10 a.m.–2 p.m.; wear long sleeve shirts, pants, hats, and sunglasses. Children under 6 months: ask a doctor.

Detailed instructions on how and when to apply your Paula's Choice products can be found in our How to Put Together Your Own Skincare Routine article.

The Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion SPF 15 is now an SPF 30! Did you change the formula?

No to worry, the formula hasn't changed at all (not even a little bit)! We rested the Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion to comply with the latest FDA regulations. We were thrilled to find out that not only does this sunscreen meet the FDA's new rigorous broad-spectrum protection standards, but also that its mineral-based SPF rating is higher than previous testing revealed. It's the same gentle, daytime moisturizer with sunscreen you've always loved—only now you're getting a greater amount of critical sun protection!

Should I reapply Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 during the day?

For casual wear, meaning less than two hours total time out in the sun, it is not necessary to reapply sunscreen as you will be protected all day. If you are perspiring or just spending a longer period of time outdoors, it should be reapplied. You may also touch up your sun protection by applying a pressed powder with sunscreen, such as Paula's Choice Healthy Finish Pressed Powder SPF 15.

How is Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 different from Moisture Boost Daily Restoring Complex SPF 30?

Although both products provide reliable broad-spectrum sun protection, they do so using completely different active ingredients. Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 contains mineral actives (titanium dioxide and zinc oxide) while Moisture Boost Daily Restoring Complex SPF 30 contains synthetic active ingredients such as avobenzone. Because of this, Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 is preferred for sensitive or rosacea-affected skin. The other notable difference is that Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 30 is a more sophisticated formula designed to be used as part of the comprehensive Skin Recovery routine. Moisture Boost Daily Restoring Complex SPF 30 is a very good daytime moisturizer for those seeking a simpler routine that covers the basics.

How is Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 different from Resist Cellular Defense Daily Moisturizer SPF 25?

Although both products provide reliable broad-spectrum sun protection, the Resist formula contains titanium dioxide as its active ingredient while Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion contains a blend of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. Both formulas contain antioxidants to help defend skin against signs of aging, but each has its own blend. Texture-wise, these two daytime moisturizers with sunscreen are quite similar. Both provide hydration and a silky, radiant finish those with normal to dry or very dry skin will appreciate best.
