Feels great but has a smell
from Raleigh NC
About Me Brand Buyer
Comments about SKIN RECOVERY Lotion SPF 30 - 2 oz:
I love this collection, and finally bought this moisturizer for the SPF I need. It felt great, but smells strongly like sunscreen all day on my face. Probably won't use as my daily moisturizer, but will definitely keep for outdoor activities and being at the pool.

My one and only sunscreen choice
from San Jose, CA
I am a dedicated user of this moisturizer. I've gone through multiple bottles while in the UK and now California. It never lets me down as sunscreen but I apply a good amount of it every day. I have rosacea which actually gets calmed down by this cream. After I wash it off at night I see less redness. I love everything about this moisturizer. It's not made for sports or swimming and it runs if touched by water. But it means it is versatile to wear under makeup and for everyday life.

Perfect for fair, sensitive, combination skin

About Me Budget Buyer
I have 40-year-old super-sensitive fair skin, mild rosacea, some dryness, and pms breakouts near my mouth. I have been using this sunscreen inside and outside during daylight hours for a month, and it does not irritate my skin or cause any new breakouts. Compared with other mineral-based sunscreens, it has minimal white cast -- any whiteness in it just makes my complexion look less red and more creamy. I think the vitamins in it might actually be improving my skin's texture. Brown spots also seem to be fading, but that could be because it is winter. I have searched high and low for a fragrance-free, mineral-based, moisturizing sun screen that doesn't give me a chalky mask. This one is a winner! (I have still had two pms breakouts since I started using the product, but it is probably too much to ask it to fix everything.)

Works like a charm
from Gardena, CA
I've been using PC sunscreen products for years. Having had slightly oily skin earliett, I used Paula's Spf 50 in the orange tube, then switched to physical sunscreen Hydralight last summer. Worked great during the warm weather months. Then when the weather changed in the fall/winter,I found I needed more hydration on my cheeks especially under my eyes. I ordered this sunscreen just for my cheeks, still using the Hydralight on my t-zone. This has worked out great for my 68-year-old combo skin, which has never looked better because of PC products. I can even skip foundation or tinted moisturizers, and just add a light dusting of Paula's powder. The white cast eventually mostly disappears on my medium Asian skin and I haven't had any irritation or zits. Really like this moisturizing sunscreen and I use it daily!
Comfortable, Great Regular Daytime Product
By Princess Plum Jade
Kind to my middle age combo sensitive skin. Liberal application = white cast = inevitable w/mineral actives. Makeup layers & wears well. Have used PC Products for 10+ years. Never strayed from SPF moisturizers and have the skin to prove it.

Not moisturizing at all
from San Francisco Bay Area
I was quite disappointed in this product. I usually use Resist Daily Moisturizer SPF 25, but it was out of stock for a long time and i couldn't get any more out of the tube, so i ordered this. Given its name i was surprised at how dry it feels on my skin and my skin is only little, not exceedingly, dry. I also found that this does not blend into my skin as well as the Resist SPF 25.I've switched from Resist Daily Moisturizer SPF 25 to MDSolarSciences Mineral Crème Broad Spectrum SPF 50 UVA-UVB Sunscreen on my face and even it feels moister than Skin Recovery Lotion SPF 30 which i tried on my face once!I was using the Resist SPF 25 on my neck, which had been irritated for a couple months - all better now, thanks to other Paula products. I ended up cutting open my Resist SPF 25 tube to get at what remained and mixed a little with the Skin Recovery product so it would go on more smoothly and feel moister. At least it isn't irritating my neck, but i won't reorder this product.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Much better than expected
from Baltimore, MD
I had given up on PC moisturizers with sunscreen after most seemed geared toward oily skin or had avobenzone in them, which I'm sensitive to. I had tried the resist sunscreen moisturizer for dry skin and it was awful, with messy packaging, and a thick white paste that was terrible under makeup. I got this in sample packets with my last order and it is lovely. I love the mineral sunscreen base, it does not sting my eyes, and sinks right in. ALso looks great under my makeup. I will most likely buy a full bottle of this with my next order.

Did not work with my Rosacea Skin
from Portland, OR
I tried really hard to like this lotion. It was the second I purchased from Paula's Choice after the Resist lotion did not do well on my skin. This one did not solve my problems. I continued to have Rosacea break outs and dry skin. I switched to another brand and the break outs have somewhat limited themselves. I further have an increase of breakout along my chin. At 30 I wish I no longer had to deal with acne, but alas I continue my search for a good face lotion for my sensitive, acne prone skin.

Solid daytime moisturizer
By Cathy C
from Brooklyn, NY
It's fine for what it's supposed to be, but I find that sunscreen as a general rule does not make my skin super happy, but I wear it anyway because you're supposed. I like the texture of this lotion SO much better than the Skin Recovery Replenishing Moisturizer, which is too thick to spread on smoothly without reinforcing the crease patterns in your skin. I find the lotion on the other hand provides almost the same level of moisture, but the texture is silkier so it just glides on and absorbs into the skin. I think if the sunscreen minerals were taken out, it would be the perfect non-sunscreen daily moisturizer for me. Paula's Choice, do you think you can make a lotion in your Skin Recovery and possibly the Moisture Boost lines that does not contain sunscreen?

I hate the feeling of sunscreen and I have never worn it on a daily basis. I apply it purely to prevent sunburn when expecting to be outdoors, in the high-risk hours of the Spring/Summer months, mainly when bathing, sunbathing or at some outdoor event. However, during this winter I had some moles removed and to protect my skin this Spring/Summer, I was looking for a product to use when going for a walk during the day. I have bought expensive products too but they often have irritating fragrances in them. I cannot use chemical sunscreens as they irritate and sting my eyes. The problem I have with mineral sunscreens is that they are generally very thick and leave a ghastly white cast. I am not keen on nanoparticles. Six weeks ago, I ordered both the Hydralight and the Skin Recovery sunscreens. While the Hydralight is a slightly thinner consistency than the Skin Recover and both are thinner than standard sunscreens, they are still a sunscreen texture, rather than a moisturiser or balm consistency. Both leave a ghastly white cast. Both have a smell. Both leave a milky beading when sweating but the Hydralight is somewhat mattifying. Both are moisturising compared to most standard sunscreens but they are sunscreens first and foremost, NOT moisturisers with sunscreen properties. Both sting my ultra sensitive and reactive skin and sting my eyes if it gets in them. Both leave a tackiness that powder makeup slings to. I have also noticed, that I come out in a slight rash from both. Just now, I have noticed that I have a bumpy texture on the back of my neck which prompted this review. I would recommend this for beach or sporting use, except that neither a waterproof. This would suit those who do not perspire much and those who are used to heavier makeup and liquid foundation.
