Dispenser is awful, serum seems okay
About Me Minimalist
Comments about RESIST 1% Retinol Booster - 0.5 oz:
I was excited about this retinold product when I ordered it. However after using it I am no longer excited, rather I am frustrated. I purchased this after a wanting to increase my percentage of retinol from 0.1% to a little stronger percentage. After talking with a Paula expert I chose this because it was said that I could apply a drop to my nightly moisturizer and get about 0.3% total. This sounds nice but the dispenser is a pump. It is a plastic bottle similar to some of the other Resist pumps (like the Resist body retinol). So this makes it almost impossible to get a drop. You end up with a full pump, sometimes half a pump if you are lucky. The serum itself has little to no smell, feels silky, and has not iritated my skin at all. That said I will not reorder this because it is a bit pricey for 15mL especially when you cannot control the amount you want to use any better. I will be out soon and have only had this for a few weeks. It should have lasted a much longer time. Very disappointing. I think when I am out I will reorder a 0.25% retinol serum from another company and when I feel comfortable with 1% maybe try the Clinical Retinol from Paulas line. I just hate wasting the serum because I get too much out and do not want to dry out my face.

About Me Beauty Conscious
This did not have any effect on my skin at all, good or bad. It's lightweight, is absorbed quickly and doesn't smell pleasing (but that doesn't matter really). There is a halfway point that you should be using to measure the drops. But for so little, it is seriously pricey. The recommendation is to add 2-3 drops to your serum or moisturizer. I went all the way up to 6 drops, still nothing. For something that's a booster, 1% in 2-3 drops over the entire face results in the product being spread so thinly there might as well not be any at all. If it wasn't for the fact that Paula's Choice never lies about the contents of the products, I would've thought that there isn't any retinol at all in this.Furthermore, there's only 15ml of product here. It isn't going to last long even at 2-3 drops a day, not to mention 6. Although I haven't personally tried the other 1% retinol product, you might want to start there instead. It might be more effective and more cost efficient.

About Me Beauty Expert
I use it 2 to 3 times per week and noticed the improving of skin profile and brightening it up. Typically, add 2-3 drops to my serum and apply all over the face, neck and decollate. The result is not immediate but getting more obvious as time passes.

I love that I can control the amount of the product that I use. I can vary the amount I want on a daily basis depending on how my skin is feeling that day while still getting results. Even with acne prone skin and rosacea my skin is happy.

This seems like a fine product, but the packaging makes it impossible to use as instructed. It's packaged with a pump, not a dropper, so I don't know why the instructions say you can control the number of drops. I find that I am completely unable to control how much product comes out. This is especially problematic because it seems to be drying for me when I use a full pump.

My new 'Holy Grail'!
from Augusta, GA
I use this booster with my antioxidant serum morning and night, now! I absolutely love retinol.... I wish I had known about it sooner! I started using it at the end of August, a month before my wedding in hopes it would help make my skin less oily and clear up hormonal breakouts and hyperpigmentation from the past and boy it delivered! When I get a pimple now, and if it looks like it'll be stubborn and not small, I dab a bit of retinol on it and it nearly disappears overnight. Even the smell is amazing! The only tiny complaint I have is the pump. When I first got it I assumed when it said "2-3 pumps" it meant actually pressing down ALL the way 2-3 times. After a few uses I learned that I was using way too much and discovered there's a half way point in the pump. So I use that now. I'm on month 3 now, so I'm glad it has lasted this long, I was worried it would be a waste of money, boy was I wrong. Just try it!!!!

On my 3rd bottle
About Me Skin Care Professional
I am currently on my 3rd bottle and am planning to buy more. It has definitely helped with reducing acne, although my acne was't horrible to begin with. However, the occasional breakouts I do have don't last as long and are less angry. I've also noticed less frequency of breakouts I get since using this product. There was an adjustment period initially where I had maybe 20% more breakouts but eventually got better over the past 10 months. I've also noticed my skin appears smoother and pores about 10% smaller. I highly recommend anyone to try this product if they haven't already. It may surprise you.The only issue is the design of the pump. Fully depressing the pump dispenses and significant amount of product - I would say almost 5 "drops" or more. Considering the purpose of this product is to use varying doses of drops, it would make more sense to make it deliver a standardized amount with each pump. As it currently stands, I mostly have to eyeball how much to use, which isn't ideal. Since I am reviewing the formulation, I haven't deducted any points from the rating as the pump is still functional and bonus for being airtight. However, I think PC should definitely get a better pump for both this and the BHA 9 where you're only supposed to be using a little bit each time.

Not for my skin
I recently wrote a review after I had used the booster for about 3 days...since then I found this product to be very irritating, red blotches, flakiness and red puffy spots on my eyelids. I should have known not to use this product on my eyelids as I used Retin-A for a number of years and knew not to apply it around the eyes. Anyway, I think there should be more instructions as how to use this product as in the Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment I recently ordered which warns of irritation and if that occurs then how to use it, etc. With the Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment I plan to start out very slowly maybe only once a week in the beginning. I got a refund on the Resist Booster which was good.

dispenser not suitable
I have not used the product long enough to see results, one thing I find is the "squirt" type dispenser either squirts too little or too much. This product is pricy and I don't want to waste it. An old fashioned eye dropper would be best.

Good product, cheap packaging
from San Francisco
Great product but the squirt top pooped off the first time I took the cap off and never fit right again. Because of the broken top the bottle dispenses product unevenly, sometimes getting too much which is a waste. It did take the red out of my stretch marks noticeably after one use so I'm very pleased with that. Just fix your packaging, this product is way too expensive to waste.
