Additional Information

Why is it different?
SKIN PERFECTING 8% AHA Gel is a completely non-abrasive, leave-on exfoliant that gently and naturally helps shed built-up layers of dead skin, just like your skin did when you were younger. This unique formula revitalizes skin’s surface, creates noticeable radiance, smooths the appearance of wrinkles, and makes your skin look and feel remarkably soft. With ongoing use, it can help promote firmer-looking skin.

This exfoliant has an optimal pH range of 3.5–3.9.

How to use
Apply once or twice daily after cleansing and toning. Apply a dime-sized amount over the entire face, avoiding direct contact with eyes and lips. Do not rinse. For daytime, follow with a broad-spectrum sunscreen rated SPF 30 or greater.

Sun Protection Advice When Using Any AHA Exfoliant: This product contains 8% glycolic acid, an ingredient that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and the possibility of sunburn. Always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen rated SPF 30 or greater every day. When outdoors, wear protective clothing whenever possible, seek shade, and avoid prolonged sun exposure.

Comments about Paula's Choice Skincare 8% AHA Gel - 3.3 oz:

I have tried most of Paula's Choice BHA exfoliants in all of the varying formulas, and all were too harsh for my skin, which is sensitive and on the drier side. I thought I'd give AHA exfoliant a go, and this one really works. The gel formula did not cause me any dryness or breakouts, and it is effective at improving skin texture.

And thank you, Paula's Choice, for the variety of quality products and the generous exchange policy that allows people to try products until they find what works best for them.

    Service and delivery comments:

Paula's choice has the best customer service -- I've been very happy with their return policy and their responsiveness to questions.

Comments about 8% AHA Gel - 3.3 oz:

I alternate this product, in the mornings, and the 2%BHA in the evenings and have found this combination works best for my skin.
I have rosacea and very dry, sensitive skin. I find this product is very hydrating and absorbs well, which is why I choose to use it in the mornings.

Comments about 8% AHA Gel - 3.3 oz:

I have used PC products for years especially the BHA as my skin was acne prone. However with age my skin has gotten drier so I thought I could benefit from an AHA instead. I now alternate this product with the PC 2% BHA a few times a week. It tingles a bit but doesn't leave my skin red. I especially like how it quickly absorbs and leaves a non-sticky finish so other products can be applied immediately after. It does achieve its intended purpose leaving my skin feeling smooth the next morning. However I can see that this glycolic acid may be irritating for sensitive skin as for me it stings more than high percentage vitamin c serums or retinol products.

Comments about 8% AHA Gel - 3.3 oz:

I used Paula's choice products for many years, but took a break after my skin became really sensitive and I had a reaction to a bha product. I've been trying to do the 'natural' thing for over 2 years and have been failing at dealing very well with the flaky dry patches on my face. Nothing worked. I ordered this product after reading the reviews and... it sounds far fetched, but I am honest in saying that my skin texture improved overnight. The flakiness is gone and I have this awesome smooth skin surface. As for the natural thing I was trying to do, I still do that for some of products, but Paula meets my needs for nothing extra added (like fragrance) and the science to back up the claims and be an effective product. I'm back baby!

        Service and delivery comments:

Yes, super prompt. I only wish I didn't have such a big mark up in price with the currency conversion and $5 brokerage fee (Canada)

Comments about 8% AHA Gel - 3.3 oz:

I have been using Paula's choice exclusively for a couple years now and it has improved my oily, acne prone skin significantly. I have always used the 2% BHA liquid because of my skin type but have recently started incorporating this AHA gel into my routine and it has made a world of difference. While the BHA cleared up my acne, the AHA has helped to take my skin to the next level in terms of improving texture and evening out my skin tone. My pores are smaller and any bumps that the BHA didn't take care of are certainly addressed by this product.

I don't feel like this product is bad just bevause it didn't work for me. I know a lot of people in the beauty community that love this. For me, I felt like it caused some irritation even when I only used it every other day. Also, I didn't really see it help much for those small comedones which I guess is my main concern. I think retinol works better for me because it helps tackle pore issues.

Love this aha exfoliator! At first I got super sensitive and had to build my skin up to it. I've tried other aha lines but keep coming back to this one. Love the gel and thick consistency and that it hydrates while exfoliating and brightening my skin.

Comments about 8% AHA Gel - 3.3 oz:

Paula's Choice cleanser and moisturiser reduced my active acne to nothing over the course of a couple of months. When I introduced this I suddenly developed large cystic acne over areas that I didn't have any before even on my worst skin day. I tried this out for a month thinking that I was just purging but now my skin is painful to even lie down on when I sleep because of how bad my acne is.

I was and am so disappointed especially because of how well my skin had reacted to their other products.

                  Formula changed :(

Comments about 8% AHA Gel - 3.3 oz:

They have changed the formula and not for the better. I have been using this twice a week for years with great results but lately my face has has been super dry and cracking. I tried drinking more water, taking fish oil, etc then I decided to compare it to my old bottle - there was the difference they added parabens and and made a few other changes. I went back to my old bottle for a couple of weeks and my face was great again. Tried the new formula and the same thing happened dry, flaky, cracked skin, I just can't use this. I am going to finish the old formula up and I am on to a new AHA luckily there are so many available now I just hate to change from Paulas. This is a case of fixing something that wasn't broken.
