Additional Information

Why is it different?

CALM Redness Relief SPF 30 Mineral Moisturizer Normal to Oily Skin pampers sensitive, reddened skin with its gentle, broad-spectrum mineral-based sun protection and soothing antioxidants, all in an ultra-light silky lotion that leaves a soft matte finish.

Collapse
What does it do?
Moisturizes while providing soothing skin relief and preventing the appearance of premature aging from sun damage. The SPF 30 is a significant benefit as it decreases the risk of skin cancer and early skin aging caused by the sun if used as directed with other sun protection measures. It’s gentle enough for sensitive skin and even suitable for skin prone to rosacea.
Collapse
How to use

Use as the last step in your AM skincare routine. Apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure. If you don’t apply liberally, you will need to reapply every two hours after your skin is exposed to direct sunlight. If you plan to swim or perspire you must apply a water-resistant sunscreen.

I've tried all of Paula's mineral sunscreens, Calm normal to oily is my favorite. I bought samples of them to try before buying full size product. I really thought that I needed something for normal to dry skin, but was surprised to see that the light texture of Calm's normal to oily works best and it moisturizes well. I had been using EltaMD prior but this one has more beneficial ingridients so I plan to keep buying.

I've used the hydralight spf for several years, but found it was a little too drying for me this winter so I started looking at other mineral sunscreens from Paula's Choice. I ended up settling on this sunscreen. The ingredient list is very similar to hydralight, but I think the calm spf is a nicer product. It's thicker and slightly more moisturizing then hydralight, and doesn't cause my combo/ dry, acne prone skin any problems. When using this product, my skin is very soft and hydrated all day. I do use it over the top of a separate moisturizer, it's not enough on its own, but neither was hydralight.

I had been having a hard time finding a sunscreen that wouldn't burn the area on my cheeks right under my eyes. I tried everything, including some of Paula's other sunscreens, and they always made those spots chafe after a few uses. I've been using this sunscreen for about 2-3 years now and I've NEVER had that problem. It goes on like a light lotion and absorbs quickly without a residue or tint - it doesn't feel like a sunscreen at all. It can get expensive given how quickly I go through it, but I rely on it so much that it's totally worth it for me.

I'm picky and I recommend for sensitive skin

I don't have red skin or rosacea, but I do have very sensitive skin, including facial eczema in response to some make-up and eye creams. I've been using the product almost daily for three weeks. This is the ONLY sunscreen, mineral or chemical, that I've used that hasn't given me those irritation bumps around my chin and under my nose or caused breakouts. I have tried cetaphil, cerave, vanicream, almay, neutrogena, laroche-posay, and arcona to name a few. I use it as a sunscreen over my moisturizer. The initial application feels silky and moisturizing. As the day goes on I can see how some might find it slightly drying, but with my underlying moisturizer I don't have a problem with that - it does say normal-to-oily on the bottle. When I'm out I am going to try the normal-to-dry version. I am white, with olive undertones and I don't find this gives me a ghostly cast like other mineral sunscreens. I'm super picky and I highly recommend you try if you have sensitive skin.

I have been using this moisturizer for approximately 6 months and agreed with past reviews that while this didn't cause a break-out, it did go on quite greasy and took a while to absorb into the skin. I believe PC released a new formulation, as my most recent order which arrived a few days ago (8/2) goes on much more matte, has a slightly different scent (i think they eliminated cucumber as an ingredient) and absorbs much faster into my skin. I reallyyyyyyy love this product! Even though it went on greasy before, I never broke out with it so I continued to purchase. This will continue to be a staple in my skincare regimen. I also use several other PC products including: CLEAR 2% BHA, Moisture Boost hydrating treatment cream and CLEAR spot treatment BHA. My skin has gotten so much more manageable after I started with PC products. Can't recommend enough!

I have been using this wonderful product daily for several months without the usual reactions I had from other brands. The most unique aspect is no stinging when applied to eyelids to protect the delicate skin tissue from sun damage.

Although my skin is more on the normal to dry side than normal to oily, this is my favorite sunscreen to use from PC. It's hydrating enough without being greasy. It gives my skin more of a glow than a shine, and it doesn't clog my pores or contribute to my acne. I wish I'd been using this one all along. It feels so smooth going on and makes my skin look brighter and healthier immediately after application.

I have very sensitive combination skin. I have eczema on my chin and blood vessels on my cheeks. That's the reason I chose this normal to oily one. After applying for 2 days in the morning, I had a few breakouts on my chin and forehead. Although it is not greasy at all, nonirritating, I'm still thinking about if I need to try it out for a little bit longer or just return it.

Comments about CALM SPF 30 Moisturizer for Normal to Oily Skin - 2 oz:

I wanted to use only mineral based sunscreens. The top brands from the drugstore left my face very greasy and uncomfortable. This sunscreen goes on beautifully and never irritates my skin or eyes. My husband and I both use it and we are hard to please. Paula's Choice products are the best, I have been using them for over 20 years. Cheers to the team and everyone who leaves a review.
