Gentle and effective

My experience with this toner had been nothing but positive. It's very lightweight so it feels like nothing on my skin, just fresh and clean. I don't notice any smell whatsoever. Just for reference, I have fair, acne-prone, oily/combo skin with large pores and lots of redness 24/7. I get dry patches on my cheeks when it gets cold outside, but the rest of the year I'm very, very oily all over. I've been using other products for a very long time (in a few cases, years) including: -PC 4% BHA Foam 1x/week -PC Resist Barrier Repair Moisturizer every other night (been using only during cold winter months for several years) -PC Hydralight Moisturizing gel every other night -PC Niacin Booster 1x/day -Sunscreen (several different mineral sunscreens, I switch formulas depending on my skin's oiliness) At the same time I started using this toner I also started using PC Calm Redness Relief 1% BHA lotion 1x/day and between the two products my skin looks way more "chill" and less blotchy. To me it's definitely worth trying. I'll definitely buy this again!

One of my can't live without favorites

I have very sensitive skin that reacts every time I shave, this toner soothes the red rashy bumps and I can't live without it. Dunno why it has so many poor reviews, it's always worked for me

Stung face and turned it bright red

1

I was really expecting this toner to help calm my skin from some irritation that I have due to use of Differin. It actually did the opposite in that it stung my face really, really bad and turned it bright red. Not sure what ingredient caused this but it was awful and I can't recommend it for this reason.

Clinical Advanced Redness Relief Liquid Was Way Better

1

I used to buy Paula's Choice Clinical Advanced Redness Relief Liquid to use on my face post-laser hair removal. It smelled terrible, and I felt weird about it as a vegetarian, but it worked way better than anything else I'd tried. It and the apparently-beloved Hydralight toner have both been removed from the line and replaced with this product, which I tried a sample of. This smells almost as bad as the Clinical Advanced Redness Relief Liquid for none of the benefits. It irritated my face enough that I discontinued it after one use. Please bring back the products the rest of us loved and discontinue this.

GREAT for my extremely sensitive skin :-)

Works GREAT for my rosacea + Central Sensitivity Disorder -affected Extreme Combination Skin :-) Only caveat: if, like me, you have "porcelain" (extremely pale) skin, you'll probably only want to use this before bed. This product has an extremely light yellow/orange tint, which actually shows up on my skin! (It makes me look a bit "off" or "unwell".)

My Favortie Toner

I have sensitive, combination, cystic acne prone skin. This is my favorite toner because it balances my pH and helps reduce the redness of my acne. I highly recommend to anyone out there looking for a sensitive toner.

Irritated my skin

1

Unfortunately this product caused significant irritation for me. I bought a couple of samples and, after the first use, my face was left with bright red blotches were the toner had been in contact. I'm disappointed because there are several great ingredients in this product (and obviously many people have success with it) and I really like the CALM Redness Relief Cleanser. One other point: I noticed that several reviews indicate that this toner foams. I contacted Paula's Choice customer service regarding that and was told that this toner had no cleansing properties. However polysorbate-20 (classified as a cleansing agent in the Paula's Choice Ingredient Dictionary) is one of the first few ingredients. I know these ingredients have multiple purposes, so it may not be intended for cleansing in this product, but I did indeed notice that the toner foamed on the cotton pad when I applied it. Not necessarily a bad thing, just something to note.

Try a sample first before buying!

1

I am so glad I tried a sample. I am acne-prone, and my face is often sensitive, dry and red due to side effects of prescription Retin-A. I have previously used the Hydralight toner and loved it. I was so disappointed that it was discontinued. The Skin Balancing toner is what I typically use now, and I have been happy with the results. I bought a sample pack of the Calming Toner, thinking that it should better alleviate my morning redness. However, the exact opposite happened! After applying the toner with a cotton ball, my face immediately began to sting. Then, after only a few second, my entire face turned beet RED!! My face has never been so red! Twenty minutes later, it is still red! The toner also has a fishy smell that is unpleasant. I will never use this toner again! My fingers crossed that my face does not break out from this one-time experiment. I will be staying with the Skin Balancing toner. Please Paula, do not continue Skin Balancing the way you discontinued Hydralight! I am so disappointed.

Test it out first

1

I have very sensitive skin, so when the Calm line came out, it seemed like a god-send. Unfortunately, every product I've tried in this line has made my skin sting a little for a few minutes after application. The Calm Toner, however, made my skin feel like it was on fire. When the burning sensation didn't stop after 10 min, I tried to wash it off, which only made it burn more. It took about 45 min for my face to stop hurting. For the most part, I'd recommend Paula's Choice products to anyone--the skin care routine I've set up with PC products has served me very well. But if you want to try this product, I highly suggest trying a sample of this first.

Please bring back hydralight toner!!!

1

After using the CALM toner and moisturizer, I am now trying to nurse my skin back to health. My chin has completely broken out and my skin looks horrible. I'm not sure why you would discontinue the hydralight line and replace it with something that does the exact opposite of what it claims. Very unhappy. Please bring hydralight toner and moisturizer back asap!!
