Suffererd persistent back acne for years
After 5 years of no solutions for my back acne this kit has completely cleared my back of acne and pist-inflammatory marks. Nevermind a review, Paula deserves a reward. I had this acne for YEARS! It's a blessing that I can finally wear sleeveless & backless tops now.
I bought the Travel size of this product so I could try it out. I have not had any breakouts since I started using it. I love the exfoliating solution - it removes dirt and dead skin without irritation - even when I've just washed my face, my cotton ball is brown after I use this solution! I've never seen this with other toners. I have used a lot of products for mild but persistent acne over the years (it came back when I was 25 after a round of strong antibiotics). Nothing has been able to clear up my skin, though I had some success with Proactiv. However, their business model is questionable at best. I am really glad I discovered this product and sent some to my niece to try! I also tried the Resist anti-aging line and I really love the Anti-redness Hydration creme, which is moisturizing and has faded the sun discolorations I have on my forehead and cheeks, improving my skin's overall evenness.
I like the products and use them at home, but the product packaging on the travel kit is terrible! A travel kit needs to be able to travel. I bought this for a two week trip and the exfoliant bottle leaked everywhere. Thank goodness I double bagged, but it was a mess and I ended up with only a few days worth of product.

Packaging is awful :( Lost a lot of product due to leakage.
Same comments as TravelBug.
I would recommend product.
I would not recommend using the packaging it comes in for travelling.
This review is mostly for the packaging. I have purchased the full size of these products several times for my daughter and she loved the results. Took the full size travelling with us and both exfoliant and cleanser leaked. A lot of product was lost! :(
So I thought we would try the travel size. However the both the exfoliant and cleanser leaked big time also, even though care was taken to cling wrap and put into zip lock bags. Very disappointing considering it's suppose to be a travel kit.
Once you open this don't plan on taking it anywhere unless you want to lose half the product by the time you get to your final destination. This is a great option if you are just purchasing to test out and leave on your basin.
Paula's Choice please, please change the packaging!
Not good for travel. Leaks.
This review is mostly for the packaging. I have purchased the full size of these products several times and love the results. I thought the travel size would be great to take on short trips (size is TSA compliant) However the exfoliant leaked big time. I though I could just put some cling wrap and then screw the lid back on, but it still leaked and I put the lid back on tight! I purchased a second time thinking it was just a defective bottle, but this one also leaked everywhere. I had the same problem with the cleanser for both purchases, although not as bad as the liquid exfoliant. Very disappointing considering its tagged as a travel kit. Once you open this don't plan on taking it anywhere unless you want to lose half the product by the time you get to your final destination. This is a great option if you are just purchasing to test out and leave on your basin. Paula's Choice please, please change the packaging!
Exceeded my expectations
I was skeptical to try this since the normal strength kit did nothing for me, but I am amazed! I get really bad cystic acne on my chin and this is the only thing that's gotten rid of them and kept new ones from forming. I have blackheads and enlarged pores on my nose and there is a noticeable difference after 3 weeks of use. I find it's a little too drying for my normal skin, so I reduce it's use to only my problem areas, and I can say I'm very happy with the results and will be buying the full sized kit!
I love this stuff!!
Love these products!
This system works great. Previously I used a prescription cream which was WAY more expensive, and left white streaks on my skin. I really like that the Benzyl Peroxide is a clear gel. It goes on smooth, and I can easily put on makeup over it. It definitely dries out my skin though, so I usually only use it at night, and/or on problem areas.
My breakouts have significantly diminished, and the few that I do get are far less severe. I feel like my red spots disappear faster, probably due to the salicylic acid exfoliant. I used to always use harsh scrubs to exfoliate, but I am sold on the gentle liquid in this kit.
This kit has the same basic concept as most acne systems, but I think the formulation and packaging is what really makes a difference. The products are easy to use with makeup, and aren't in those cute pots (which spoil quickly). Other people have mentioned spills from the packaging, but I haven't had any issues. I would definitely recommend trying this system. It lasted me much longer than 2 weeks, and I ended up buying the full size bottles.
This product did not work for me
As much as I love Paula's Choice, I am disappointed in these products. I used the set as directed and found that my skin did not improve in the slightest.
I am 24 years old and, over the past two years, have suffered from hormonal acne on my cheeks and jawline. I also apply makeup multiple times a day for my job and my skin is severely agitated by humid weather.
I was optimistic about trying the Clear line and devistated that it did not work in my case. Perhaps I needed to use the products for more time than the trial-sized products allowed. Ultimately, I do not recommend these products to someone with skin problems similar to the ones I listed above.
I have oily/combination skin, with acne prone/sensitive skin with closed comedones (small bumps). I have tried many things to get rid of those very stubborn bumps, and I decided to try this kit out.
The first time I used the products (mostly the exfoliant and clearing treatment) my skin had a burning feeling and was SO uncomfortable. It was also itchy, but I decided to wait it out because I have tried so many products without any success. The discomfort went away after about an hour, but I woke up with slightly reddish skin from the irritation. However, I decided to stick it out because I did see my skin become a little smoother. For a few nights, my skin was extremely uncomfortable... the bumps on my face did lessen (but not completely gone), and I had extremely dry and flaky skin as well. The redness in the morning went away.
After using this for a few weeks, I do not think that the discomfort after applying these products on my face at night is worth the results. My skin does look a little better because my acne and bumps have smoothed out a little, but they are definitely still there. Plus I have very dry and flaky skin now. Maybe I should have gone with the regular strength? Oh well. I still do think this product worked in some ways.
