What does it do?
Never sticky or greasy, this soft-shine, fullness-enhancing gloss has a sheer pink shade suitable for all skin tones. Best of all, it provides broad-spectrum sun protection to keep delicate lips shielded from sun damage. The SPF 40 is a significant benefit as it decreases the risk of skin cancer and early skin aging caused by the sun if used as directed with other sun protection measures.

How to use
Apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure to bare lips or over your favorite lipstick. Use a water-resistant sunscreen if swimming or sweating. Reapply at least every 2 hours if skin is exposed to sun. Can be used alone for great sun protection, or used to add extra sun protection when applied over a lipstick with sun protection.

Silky feel, but doesn't last long.

This gloss is a nice pretty pink, but the color doesn't last. I may be allergic to the dye or an ingredient, as I am to most lip balms -I had high hopes for this one, but it did eventually make my lips peel when it came off.

The problem is the coconut oil

1

Paula, the reason why reviewers are finding this product is drying the lips is because of the coconut oil. I know it is counter intuitive and makes no sense. However while coconut oil is a great moisturizer for the hair and skin on the rest of the body, for some reason it does not moisturize the lip skin. Rather coconut oil dries the lip skin. I have no scientific proof for these statements so feel free to cast aside my comments as wrong. However this is my experience as well as the experience of friends and family who agreed to experiment with coconut oil on the lips. I thought it was just me and could not understand why my using coconut oil on my lips was resulting in serious dried out chapped lips. But this happened to others. Just some anecdotal information that you may find useful, or not. However I would be happy to here your feedback based on science.

Love it!

I have super sensitive skin, especially around my mouth (I'm also prone to eczema in that area). Thankfully this product does not irritate my lips/skin at all, and actually makes my lips feel and look more soft and hydrated! It has a really subtle, pretty pink colour to it, that is very flattering. I also really like how it smells (like brown sugar)! The tube has lasted me quite awhile and I use it whenever I go outside of the house. Would definitely recommend!

PU Gloss

1

Most Paula's Choice items I have used are very good; this one is the most stinky lip product EVER. PU!

No clear color available

I like this lip gloss, but I would much prefer a clear color. Please start carrying this in clear.

Strong plastic smell and flavor from spf ingredients

2

Upon first applying this gloss, the smell is just faint brown sugar. Only about a minute later, and well after the shine has faded, the smell and taste is plastic-y due to the sunscreen ingredients. This was my first time using a non-mineral spf lip product, and it may be my last.

Not worth the price

2

Pros: lovely color, high spf, glossy finish. Cons: drying, scratchy applicator and overpriced. I exclusively use PC skincare so thought I'd try this gloss. Not a fan. My biggest complaint is how drying it is. I much prefer the $6, 15spf drugstore variety I use instead.

Ok but nothing special

This would be a great lip gloss over top of lipstick or lip pencil if you like a really glossy finish. But I bought the clear and the pink shades to wear on bare lips to give a bit of polish but mostly to moisturize and provide a high SPF. I find it too glossy for that purpose. Paradoxically, despite being glossy and shiny, I find it is not moisturizing and even makes my lips a little try after using it. The pink is really a lovely colour. I am astonished at the comments about smell and taste, as to me it is tasteless and has no scent whatsoever. Finally, the applicator around the little hole the product comes out of is very scratchy on delicate lips. I am addicted to moisturizing lip balms. Until it was discontinued, I used PC Lipstick in "invisible" with SPF 15. It was marketed as a lipstick (there were colours also) but I really feel the "invisible" shade was more of a lip balm. I used this every single day and would buy multiples at a time. It was clear, but the texture was more of a sheen than a gloss, and it was very moisturizing. I so miss it and wish they would bring it back. Also don't like the PC lip balm SPF50 as it is exactly the traditional waxy feeling balm I am trying to avoid.

Love this! Broadband protection AND cruelty-free

5

It is very difficult to find a high SPF lip gloss/balm that's broad spectrum AND cruelty-free. There are many glosses/balms labeled 'SPF', but be careful b/c many are not broad spectrum...they only have UVB (which protects lips from burning), not UVA (which protects lips from aging). I'm thinking especially of the Fresh Sugar Lip treatment lip balms that always win beauty awards and accolades. They're a bit deceitful b/c they rave about their sun protection, but it's only UVB! (No UVA) Grr! I love Paula's Lip gloss. It protects your lips with a high broad spectrum SPF, feels very moisturizing, and comes in a lovely tinted pink shade as well as clear. All her products are cruelty-free, which I love. I have about 5 tubes of this gloss at any one time, spread out in places where I need them... 1 in my purse, 1 in my make-up bag, 1 in my nightstand drawer, 1 in the bathroom, and 1 stashed away in the living room. The comments about the scent/taste seem overblown to me. The scent is a pleasant brown sugar type of smell...nothing overwhelming or offensive. Plus, the scent seems to go away as you wear it. If you are curious about trying this lip gloss, go for it! I recommend this highly! I really hope Paula does not discontinue this. I get a little worried when I see it on sale.

Highly UNrecommended

1

I was attracted to this product because of its SPF. I've never seen a regular lip product higher than SPF15. I was very disappointed with this product as it was sticky, and had a strange vanilla-coffee like flavor. I am a lover of PC products, and was very disappointed to find out this product was the opposite of its description.
