I was shocked that this cleanser was actually able to remove all my stubborn makeup (even mascara!) while not drying out my skin. Truly the best cleanser around.

GREAT for my normal / dry / chemical peeling / retin-A skin

I have normal to dry skin and finding a cleanser that doesn't pull my face tight is a challenge. I would use C_r_ve when I'm in a chemical exfoliation or going through Retin-A peeliness (after a break) or when my face is otherwise feeling parched because it was only cleanser that wouldn't feel like skin damage. (I wouldn't use it regularly because I never felt truly clean after use.) When I got RESIST Optimal Results Hydrating Cleanser in a PC kit, I tried it and immediately could tell a difference! I felt clean but also enjoyed seeing a sheen of moisture. Truly I couldn't believe my eyes. More important, probably, is that I could make expressions after washing and not feel like my face was going to crack - EVEN during peeling / exfoliation / retin-A processes. So impressed, I continued using it even when my face didn't feel extra-dry and now I'm loyal to this cleanser and feel grateful to its existence. I use it every single cleansing and keep Cer___ on hand only as a just in case. Cons: I'm approaching the end-part of my current bottle (but still maybe about an inch left) and I have to remove the pump dispenser because it is no longer pumping. I mean, it is pumping but nothing is coming out. Last week I thought I was approaching being completely out but removed the dispenser to see I've got more than several uses left.

The pump doesn't work; waste of product and money

Such a frustrating experience! Every time I use it, it's a battle with the pump. I've probably lost more than half the product in this bottle as it spurts out in every direction-IF I can get anything to come out at all!! I should have returned it, but kept hoping next time it would be a better experience. Plus returns are a hassle. A total waste of money!

My Favourite Cleanser

I have been using this cleanser since it first came out and I love it. I wear quite a bit of makeup and I have no problems with makeup removal, including mascara. My skin always feels soft and calm after cleansing.

Caused severe skin irritation

Product caused very large hives around eye and mouth area which have taken weeks to clear up. I liked the product's performance but I can't use it and I wouldn't describe my skin as sensitive. So unfortunate.

Great to take off makeup!

This cleanser is great for taking off makeup. It's not going to bubble up or anything. It's like a milky consistency that doesn't leave behind any residue. It makes your skin feel clean but doesn't suck the life out of it. I don't use it as my everyday am/pm cleanser but you definitely could. I like to use it to take off my makeup, go about the rest of my day, and then later start the rest of my pm routine.

Started making my skin feel tight and dry

I have used this cleanser for a while and it has been fine. In the last two months though I have noticed that it leaves my skin dry and tight feeling after use. I will have to try to find another emollient cleanser for combination skin.

I SWEAR by this stuff!!

I am crazy about this cleanser!! This is hands down the best cleanser I have ever used from any line. It is really the only thing that removes all of my eye makeup. I rarely if ever have a breakout now. This was not the case before I started using it. Now I HOARD it!!!!

Not much to dislike, but found it irritates

Over the past year and a half, I switched to using physical sunscreen because chemical ones were irritating my skin. Unfortunately, physical sunscreens tend to dry my skin, so I've had to switch to more emollient cleansers, which I tend to use at night. I tried a full bottle of Paula's Choice Optimal Results Hydrating Cleanser in the hopes it would be a good solution for me. I found the texture to be amazing--creamy and elegant, but not too lotion-like. Upon adding some water, the cleanser becomes fabulously cushiony and slippery, which is ideal for not pulling and dragging on skin. It is fragrance free, with many skin-beneficial ingredients. The product is not drying, but also doesn't make me extra oily, which is a nice balance. On the surface, there is nothing to dislike about this cleanser. On the less positive side, I found the cleanser to sometimes be irritating, probably due to an ingredient sensitivity. I also needed quite a bit to cover both face and neck. Given the hefty price, I find this is a poor value for money. The biggest negative for me is that I did not see much difference between this cleanser and less expensive ones that don't have "anti-aging" properties. In fact, I find Paula's Choice own Skin Recovery cleanser to be much better because it is more soothing and a tiny bit goes much further. One final nit--although the packaging feels heavy and luxurious, it is kind of a pain to handle. I know that people were begging for pump dispensers, but I find that the product thickness means having to put a lot of pressure on the pump, and the tall, narrow bottle can easily slip. As an alternative, holding the bottle to pump doesn't work well with damp hands. I definitely prefer PC's shampoo-bottle style for facial cleansers. I probably will not repurchase, but do think this product is worth trying.

My year-round cleanser

I decided to try this cleanser a few years ago when winter hit since my normally oily-ish skin started drying out from the cold weather and constant inside heat. It's very soothing for my skin. I actually started using it all year now. The only concern is I wish it was in a flip top container instead of a pump. When the product is low I have to turn it upside down to get the last amount of cleanser but even then I feel like I lose some valuable product. I won't stop using this but please maybe consider changing the packaging. Or maybe someone can suggest a way for me to get the last bit of product out of the pump bottle w/o wasting product? Thanks Paula for your great products!
