Additional Information

Why is it different?
SKIN PERFECTING 2% BHA Gel Exfoliant is a leave-on, water-light formula that gently and naturally exfoliates dead skin, just like your skin did when you were younger. This creates an immediate and dramatic improvement in skin's appearance and feel. Your skin will look more radiant and smooth, with diminished pore size, while softening the appearance of wrinkles.

This exfoliant has a pH range of 3.2–3.8.

What does it do?
Works to create a younger appearance, revealing a glowing, smoother radiance, and diminishes pores, smooths bumps, and minimizes lines and wrinkles. It also provides long-lasting hydration for healthier-looking skin. It’s suitable even for skin prone to milia.
How to use

Apply once or twice daily after cleansing and toning. Apply a dime-sized amount over the entire face, including the eyes (avoid the lower lash line and eyelids). Do not rinse. For daytime, follow with a broad-spectrum sunscreen rated SPF 30 or greater.

Still prefer the liquid version

While the liquid version of this product is my favorite, I wanted to give this one a shot out of curiosity. After having tried this out, I still prefer the liquid version, so this is more of a comparison between the two: What spurred me to try the gel out is that I sometimes feel like the cotton pad absorbs half of the liquid BHA and it's not as easy to cover the entirety of my face with it, so I figured a gel would be more bang for my buck. The gel IS much easier to spread around the face than the liquid, and it also seems to last MUCH longer than the liquid version. I always feel bad about using more of the liquid on my neck, but with one pump of this gel, it's more than enough for face, neck and even a little bit of the chest area. I did feel like it was a tad greasy, especially if you're heavy-handed with it (one pump is waaaay too much for the entire face), so in that regard, I definitely prefer the liquid version. I also feel like the liquid BHA just smoothes my face more evenly than the gel. The gel sometimes felt... gritty? after wearing it for a while. I probably won't be buying this again, but if I did, I'd buy it for use on my hands/neck/chest.

I need this in my life at all times.

I have been using this product once a day for about a month now and I'm beyond thrilled. 'Pro' tip: Don't put it on a cotton ball or pad as this wastes so much product, instead use your (clean) hands. After washing my face with Hydralight one step face cleanser in the shower, I make sure my hands are clean, put a few drops in my hand, and apply to my face focusing on my T-zone. I don't know which product is impacting the results the most but either way, I am zit and foundation/concealer free during my period which is a freaking miracle. One thing that bugs me a tiny bit is that my hands always feel gross/greasy after application. I do find that my face feels a little weird for a bit after application but that goes away after applying my moisturizer. This combo of products is the first that has actually worked for my skin and I will not use anything else as long as these are available.

I read about Paula's Choice BHA exfoliants on an online forum I found after researching how to get rid of my "closed comedones". No matter how much I exfoliated, cleansed, or tried to extract whatever from these clogged pores of mine, nothing would help enough to get rid of these white bumps on my skin. That is until I tried this here product! This is officially my second day of using the gel exfoliant morning and night. My skin hasn't "purged" yet (hopefully it won't). It actually got brighter, less red, and WAAAY smoother! My closed comedones are already almost gone! I'm incredibly impressed and I feel so much more confident. I've finally found something that works! It is a little sticky, but that goes away entirely once my skin absorbs the product. As far as moisture goes, my skin is still moisturized, and my oil is actually under control throughout the day. That's without an additional moisturizer. This is truly a miracle product!

Love the Texture

This is my favorite texture of Paula's BHA products. It seems to have a lot of "slip" which makes it easy to quickly spread over my face without a lot of pulling or tugging. With the liquid, I always felt like I was losing a lot of product, either by having it slip between my fingers or be soaked into a cotton ball. With this one, I feel like I get more bang for my buck because no product is wasted.

Best BHA serum I've used

It is a really nice serum that within a couple of night time uses I can notice my skin's congestion reducing. The is no stinging with this serum and actually seems helps to hydrate my skin as well. My major problem with this product is that it leaves my skin very sticky, even when I don't even use a whole pump. I've tried the Ordinary 2% Salicylic acid serum, which seemed to do nothing for my skin, this one works. Because the product work so well, I am willing to put up with the tacky finish and only use it in the PM. I use it between a glycolic acid toner and a oil free lotion. I wish I could use it in the morning when I'm having a breakout but alas the texture won't allow for that.

Instant Results

I noticed a visible improvement in my skin tone and texture after just a couple of uses. I use only at night after toner and before moisturizer. I do allow 10 minutes after applying before I apply serums and/or moisturizer. I found this more effective for my skin type (normal/combo) than the 4% BHA.

Very Gentle and effective

It makes my skin gradually clear and glow. Minimize my oil production in a gentle way. Really enjoy it!

Horrible for my skin

I just ordered this item maybe two weeks ago I used it three times and had the worst break out ever. Also dried my skins. Deffs won't be repurchasing. I wish I could replace it with another product.

Too heavy for my skin type

It's the first time that I'm using a PC product. I live in Brazil and I can't buy them here. Last month, my brother had a trip to US and he brought me this. I'vê been following Paula's advices for a long time and my skin has improved a lot. But, honestly, I don't think this is suitable for my skin type. I have very sensitive combination acne-prone skin. A first, I thought I could be overexfoliating or purging. But I noticed that when I apply the product, my skin gets much oilier and shiny and I just use 1 pump in my entire face and neck. I hope that I'll be able to use this in the winter. It's summer here and the weather is very hot and rainy. A least, it hasn't irritated my skin at all.

Writing product reviews is extremely rare for me - but honestly don't know how a company could claim something as "skin perfecting," with "100% satisfaction guaranteed" when so many customers seems to be becoming more and more unsatisfied with these products... I purchased the gel formation in full-size and the liquid version in a trial-size as a hopeful solution to my adult onset acne issues, as well as a potential replacement for a beloved product I'd used for years that was discontinued (not by Paula's Choice). Alas... not only did the product do NOTHING to help my skin, I actually had worsening acne and milia issues. I continued to use the product for almost three weeks in the hopes that it was the kind of solution that would be a "gets worse before it gets better" kind of thing. NOPE. Skin never improved until I stopped using it. I tried this on my face, chest, back... every spot I tried accumulated worse acne than before using the product. It also left my skin LOOKING shiny alongside FEELING heavy/sticky. There was no way of putting makeup over it as it just seems to sit on top of your skin without actually soaking in. My powder makeup would CLUMP on top of this stuff - not pretty. Needless to say, i'm very disappointed. Though, I think I've found a different, more effective product from another brand - LUCKILY. What the heck are you selling, and advertising, as "skin perfecting" guys? Really? Maybe for some people? Not in my case, obviously.
